Re: How about that Polhill?

I have seen him beat a few 9 second cars.. it really pissed them off.. he usually trees them and runs the number

Too bad.. a win is a win no matter how fast or slow you go..

How about that Polhill?

Is he going all the way? What do you think his chances are?

Re: How about that Polhill?

I sure hope that Steve makes a good show(it's already quite amazing) if you cut a great light and run your number you should be in the final doesn't matter who you're running, just imagine the wait from a c/sa car against him, probably unbearable(can you say red light). Go Steve. Claude

I've been watching him since class eliminations. I hope he wins and saves some of his winnings for buying a few rounds at the PRI SHOW this year.

Great showing -- out the back door by 2 1/2 tenths is a bunch ...................

He had a great.028 light but took too much stripe..

Looks like lots of cars are breaking out.. the air must be really different today down there..

Looks as if they both ran it out the back door! Nice showing Steve. Proud of ya! Jim

That's a problem when you spin the tires like that. You don't know whether you're going faster or slower. All you can do is change the shift points by seat of the pants instinct.
It's really hard to make that choice to short shift it , 5th round US Nationals.
Great effort though, Steve.

That's what makes me think the air is changing quite a bit. I was watching his dials and he was right on until the last run..

That round was the first tail wind we had all week.Don't know if that was it or not.Tailwind affects us low HP cars more.

Re: How about that Polhill?

Thanks Guys

I can't say i'm not disapointed about the 5th round loss. I was really ticked when I saw that I had tree'd him by 5 hun.

Car picked up a ton for no real reason. Funny thing is I had just got done telling someone in the lanes, How Predictible the car had been all week, and BAM. I should have backed up into him more than I did. Never really expected the car to pick up as much as it did. That last pass was flirting with the magic 1.25 under number.

Ohh Well As John Force would say. The old Heap was truckin, and over all it was a good outing for the Polhill Racing Innovations Ford Escort.

Steve,

Great job! While I met you and your father at a previous Indy trip, I missed you this year. I should have gotten some shots. I knew this would start a good thread and you would add some color commentary. Glad to see you made it home in one piece and some change in your pocket.

Great Job Steve! On behalf of us remaining fwd stocker racers (the seemingly dozen of us that are left), I was rooting for you from way out west, and I too was glad to see how greatly you predicted your cars performance in your elimination rounds! I look forward to seeing your car in action in the dragster in 2-3wks.!

Re: How about that Polhill?

If more racers knew how difficult it is to drive a FWD car they would appreciate much more what a great accomplishment Steve's outing at Indy was! Every time DRC posted the next round win for you Pothole I hooted and hollered as if it were me in your seat!

Gary, I still have the AF/S Neon! Jim

That's cool Jim, and like I said in another thread, that's cold you calling Steve "Pothole", but sounds to me like he'd be a cool guy to hang around and bench race with...anybody that has the nerve to race a fwd car (with it greater challenges to be a winner in stock or Super Stock), is "WAY COOL WITH ME"!!!

One of us is eventually going to smash that glass ceiling that has withheld fwd racers from standing on top of the heap after final eliminations are done, and if it isn't me, I hope I get to see/read about whoever it is, and if it is you or Steve, that would certainly be AWESOME!!!

I hope you get that Neon back out there soon Jim???

Re: How about that Polhill?

I honestly believe that if you can do well in a low HP FWD car, you are a pretty good racer. It's viewed as an easy car to drive, but thats not really the case. Sometimes is can be a pain in the *****. And the predictability can be a problem. The smallest change in the weather can make a serious change in dial-in.

And as far as the "Pothole" thing goes I've been called worse, Much worse LOL

I couldn't agree with you more on the above comments Steve, and I'm glad you have a great sense of humor...take care and go get 'em at your next race too!!!

Hey When you are racing a Ford Escort and into Politics you MUST have a sense or humor. You'd go crazy otherwise..

No Jason, there's just something about our brand of beer that keeps him away.

After winning 4 championships in a row I had to let someone else take it. Actually if I remember correctly, I missed 5 races that year including the labor day weekend and still finished in second place. LOL

Re: How about that Polhill?

Dave

The schedule of the Can Am races keeps me away. It always seems I have another race or something else going on everytime there is a can am race. Besides is I were to show up and take the money everytime the attendance would surely go down LOL..
