If you do a little planning, you can miss all but the last toll. I've made the trip a couple of times, both from Ohio and from North Carolina. Long ride from *those* states, but otherwise I see no problem with the trip.

You Floridians are wimps! Epping is close to the ocean, so it really never gets that cold (cold is when it gets below zero, 0-32 is chilly, 32-50 is brisk, 50-75 is warm, above 75 is hot).

Ive been there twice with IHRA but your right.....Im a wuss as I hate cold weather. My X was from Hamburg Ny and I hated it there when I had to take her home for Christmas. Friggin' snow and ice.

Re: Roll Call Epping's Last IHRA Nitro ?

Jack, We regularly have 60 cars at our association races "up north here", I am sure those racers are happy to not need to go "DOWN" 95 for every points race.

Lets see, when I started this sport the points races were.

Cayuga 450 miles for me
maple Grove 300
Englishtown 200
Epping 120
MIR 300+
We did go to atco maybe once way back, then didn't they switch to IHRA for a long time ?

That schedule did a good job of representing D1 geographically

I will be at Epping

Dave - You're right but some of us are spoiled ----

Englishtown -- Around 100 miles
Maple Grove -- Around 75 miles
Atco -- Around 110 miles
Cecil County - around 125 miles
Island -- under 50 miles
Numidia -- around 125 miles

Do you see what I mean ...............

While I don't remember you being one of them, Jack, there certainly was enough crying on here after the Lebanon Valley points meet this year about the "haul" up there, that proved the point you're making right now.

Andy - I don't cry about anything - my answer - " it is what it is" - make the best of it .

Dave -- Are you saying my stuff needs to be spiced up ? Have your last hurrah this weekend and keep an eye out for that LeBrecque character .................

Re: Roll Call Epping's Last IHRA Nitro ?

Well Jack i can't blame ya for enjoying those short hauls, but really Jack, think of the photo ops that the extra distance will give you. AND if you happen to zip over to the BEACH while up north in July, well that could really spice up your reporting

Dave

Assuming that my beloved hound is doing ok, I will likley make the 30 something mile trek up and compete with the dakota for the last IHRA national event at Epping.......its the event that sold me on Class racing to begin with the stock and superstock cars.......

Jack:
you need to broaden those horizons!

I will make the 16 mile tow this evening and will even be crazy enough to run 2 cars the next two weekends (thanks Whitey!)

If 1 car is a headache, two cars will be.....?

looking forward to one of my favorite races

Good luck Deano -- and I am going to broaden my horizons this weekend -- besides racing and doing "Live from Englishtown " with the help of some friends I'll attempt to do "Almost Live from Epping " ................................yeah , I know -- I'm looking like a first round duck already ! ! ! But my ratings are higher than Obamas' so .............

hey Jack! We want to see you at some of "Our" races! Maybe you have been and I just don't remember? Been there for 20 or so years in some capacity but not at all the races but about 12 years or so...

Come join us sometime...I think you will find the water quite warm over here!

:D

Re: Roll Call Epping's Last IHRA Nitro ?

Steve and I will be there.
Less stressful driving north.
My question:
Can we leave our trailer on site till next week for the divisional race?
Would be great not to have to tow back and forth.
Thanks,Dan.

They did let you leave trailers last year for the next weeks points pro-am race. Pretty sure you can do it again this year.

This is a reason why racers in other divisions consider D1 racers either lucky or spoiled or both!

On the other hand, I know of one D1 racer who has done quite well this year by driving more than 89 miles to race!

I've added the equivalent distances in miles to Kelly's post for those of you who don't have the conversion factor memorized like most of us Canadians. Fred Thibeault lives another 100 miles further away, as does John Armstrong. Maybe now you understand why you don't see these guys at more races!
