Another "Little Bird" told me that these "Ringers" that everyone is complaining about will have their own class for 2011.

Is that the one originally rated at 275? The new Camaro SS is rated at 427 hp, which is pretty honest since they make 360/370 at the tires, bone stock with factory tuning. Take away 15% which is close for a manual trans car and that puts you pretty close.
Compare the specs of the two, and it should make at LEAST what the new Camaro does.

Super Stock factor is still 275. One from Louisiana is being built for SS/JA, and will be able to run 40lbs lighter than mine. I'm not going to waste my time or money trying to run with that mess. I'll leave mine parked until I see how that shakes out. 150+ hp soft is a joke.

No, the 5.9 (360 ci) was originally rated at 275. The 5.7 (345 ci) is a Gen III Hemi and was originally rated at 305.

IMO the 5.9 is a better SS motor at the moment given the parts that are available for it.

Still soft, but this one is rated at 305 for Super Stock. The 5.9 is rated at 275 and is a natural SS/JA car. The 5.7 is a natural SS/IA car that can move down and currently rated at 305 hp.

Terry, this makes the most sense. Why else would these cars all of sudden start letting there %$#%ks hang out!

I hear of a Super Stock 5.9 Magnum DP engine (275 HP factored to 284 HP) that makes 700 HP on the dyno. I was under the impression it was a natural SS/IA class. :( , I didn't bother looking the class up as I won't fret until I have a car again.

Jeff that motor is still rated at 275 for SS. That's what's in Mark Nowicki's car. Yes, I did hear ir made 700hp on Jeff Taylor's dyno.

It looks like if the NHRA does put the "new junk" in seperate classes for stock the Super Stock guy's will still be screwed....Big Time ! Or at least for the next 10-15 year's until the HP factoring system catches up. Its time for some "Honest" human input for these engines HP rating's. The AHFS system just isn't working. The SS/GT class structure just multiplies the problem.

That was exactly what my thoughts were from an earlier post. Putting them in their own class for Stock like the FX class is very easy to implement. Super Stock classes would be a natural extension of those classes, but the GT would be a nightmare.

The best solution would be to refactor the GT horsepower right off the top. It is generally different than the Super Stock rating in most cases anyway.

An early retirement for Gracia would be welcome. It would be great to put Wesley in that position. He probably wouldn't take it if it required him to move to California. Maybe we could convince him that Gracia couldn't do the job from California and there is no reason that Wesley could do any worse from Louisiana.

Bring back the days of proper knobs on the dash and correct sun visors.

but he'd never take it

Re: Horsepower Adjustments???

I am sure you are right that he would never take it, but maybe we would get him back to the National events in Division 4 with Gracia gone. It would help the rest of the nation to have Wesley in that position, but I race Division 4 and having him here covers me. That is as long as Gracia's replacement doesn't back stab Wesley on his decisions.

Glendora will only hire a "yes" man, so there goes that chance.

A yes man Wesley isn't, that's for sure. LOL!
He also knows enough about actual race engines he would have never would have never bought these bogus combination's hp ratings. I know I'm not the only SS car getting parked for a while over the DP mess. I'm still going to work on it and test, but not going to race until I see how this mess shakes out. Probably run some close IHRA races.

Problem with that Ed is the IHRA dosent have a seperate class for the S/S cars (just stock) or SS/GT cars with these bogus engines in them if any should decide to race with IHRA.

If IHRA buys those bogus numbers, guess I wont go there either.

Re: Horsepower Adjustments???

I don't think you will see many of the Cobra Jets and Drag Paks at the IHRA events. They won't "lower" themselves. I don't look at it that way. I will go because it is racing and they make it fun.

Since you don't pre-enter at the IHRA events, you could show up and see if there are any cars. I bet it would get their track's attention if you made it known that you are leaving due to how they are classifying the factory race cars.

They may even give you your money back like they did before when you had trouble.
