Early Bird Planning
For you guys and gals that like to plan a good time, Mardi Gras is Feb 16 this year. The tentative date for the No Problem points race is feb19/20. If you want to set a record and see some parades and catch some beads, your are ready. For Mardi Gras, Houma Louisiana has the second largest Mardi Gras. We own about 3 blocks on the parade route. There are two or three that pass, lots of throws, plus we cook things (at some point they either walked, slithered, swam, or crawled) that are unique to say the least. I'm sure there will be some advanced parking (No Problem is 45 miles from Houma) and I have room for anyone who wants to view/participate in the celebration. Houma has a family Mardi Gras, if you are looking for something a little different, I can tell you where to go in New Orleans. Keep in mind this is all tentative. Needless to say, there are not any open container laws down here. I'm not sure there are any laws down here on Mardi Gras.

Re: Early Bird Planning
Wash my mouth out with soap. On the official Mardi Gras site, the year is changed to 2011, but the date isn't. Since I double checked Ash Wednesday is March 9. So when I get to the office tomorrow, I will correct the dates. That means crawfish will be more in season. It just gets better. And everyone is invited, racing or not.

Re: Early Bird Planning
Jeff I might still try to set a record. Whats the current record for Coors Lights consumed at one parade.:D

Re: Early Bird Planning
It is pretty high. If you want to set the record, we can get the distributor to leave a refridgerated truck on site. Abaout 31.6 degrees I think

Re: Early Bird Planning
Jeff, to paraphrase an earlier post........you don't even know what old is, yet! It can still be a lot of fun so don't despair.
Wish I could make it for Mardi Gras in Houma. I still have memories of riding the float with Ralph and Luke back in the good old days. And about the quantity of Coors consumed in a single parade...most of the other riders were flat on the floor or draped over the edge. Of course...your's truly was in no shape to criticize! Have fun...eat some gator and suck some crawfish for me...maybe someday soon. My best to Joe and all the gang...to one and all...stay well and have fun. MaC |
