Ideal Div 1 schedule

Lets have some fun and dream up your ideal d1 lodrs schedule. Here's mine;

April 29-May 1 Budds Creek Md
May 27-29 Maple Grove
June 10-12 Englishtown
July 1-3 Epping NH
July 29-31 Numidia
Aug 19-21 Cecil County MD
Sept 9-11 Englishtown
Oct 7-9 Maple Grove

You would only count your first six races for the Jegs All stars.

I like it! especially after racing at MIR last week ,the track is great, But Royce told us he still has three years with IHRA [if they are around that long]. .................With all the rest of the tracks being quality tracks ,why bother with Cecil Co. anymore ? they have'nt made any improvements for years ,and night racing there just plain sucks.........Tom

Re: Ideal Div 1 schedule

In my ideal schedule I am dreaming also that tracks like Cecil would make necessary improvements to the track and facility to stay on the schedule. If made Atco would reappear on my schedule.

Re: Ideal Div 1 schedule

I'd agree with Tom with MIR, place is top notch and I would say ranks right up there with Maple. As Royce said he still has 3 more years with IHRA so I don't see Budds Creek coming anytime soon unless IHRA just flat out kicks the bucket. Rockingham has already dropped an IHRA Nitro Jam event for 2011. Here are the tracks I would like to see on the schedule, I did hear a rumor at Atco (Of Course it's a rumor so don't take my word) that Maple Grove D-1 Race will be in the Fall in 2011?

Start off with Numidia in early May (Place is smooth as glass)
Atco Memorial Day Weekend (I know they have a Big Bucks race those weekends)
Maple in Mid-June
E-Town on the 4th of July
Epping the last weekend of July / 1st of Aug
Cecil (if they made improvements) Keep it where the same in August if not would love to see MIR
End the season in Late September at Maple or Atco then we finish out the season with the Toyo's and Dutch

I like Byron's schedule and ideas.. I also agree with Tom on the Cecil County thing.. after the Landies crash, which is many years ago now, Cecil County made it public that they had a whole list of improvements to be made to the facility to make it safer.. I've been racing there year after year in Comp, and now S/G, and not one of the improvements that were discussed back then are recognizable to me.. and just forget about night racing there.. it's the same old s@%t hole it always was... that being said, I would give Numidia two races and cross off Cecil County..

Would love to see Numidia get a Divisional race again. Love going up there for the MASGA Races and Bob has put A LOT of money into improvements. Just extended the end of the track and did an awesome job on the resurfacing job

Re: Ideal Div 1 schedule

I would maybe have 1 race, NOT 2 races on a Holiday weekend. example: Memorial & July 4th. Just pick 1 race.

I would give Englishtown the 1st points race May 1
I would put Epping in place of Cecil County in August.
I would switch the Atco & Englishtown events at the end of the year.
Atco Sept.11
Englishtown October 1

just my .03 cents. inflation.....

Re: Ideal Div 1 schedule

The current schedule really does suck balls. Why is there 6 free weekends between Lebanon Valley and Cecil County, then too many races for 2 months? Who is in charge of this? And what happened to having a representative in each division? Wasn't Evan Smith our guy for Division 1 a few years ago? What happened? Who can we talk to now?

Why is there no race in Numidia? Why so many at Atco when there is nothing but problems? I don't miss Delmar. I haven't been to Cecil County in probably 5 years because of several reasons. Epping would be great.

I vote for not having a race during July 4th weekend. I always hated traveling during that weekend. And I usually miss some good family outings too.

2 day races would be great, but I don't see that happening anytime soon.

Re: Ideal Div 1 schedule

I know that I bitched to Dave Mohn about the scheduling of the Atco races because of the times of the year and the bashing of the comp indexes as a result of racing then. He told be that SS/Stk liked those times because it was fast then and that the problem with Numidia was low turnout at the opens. He also indicated that getting dates from the tracks were not easy either. However, i wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the October race at Atco goes away, particularly if there is bad weather for the makeup.

Scheduling looks easy and I thought it was, until I actually had to do it for our ASRA races. There are many things that come into play. Tracks have lots of things going on, they have dates that they have used for years for shows and that is their bread and butter. I agree that the space between Lebanon and Cecil is a long one, but , tracks want to get as many cars as poss. and racing in mid July thru august is not that popular.

I am thankful that we have as many tracks in the northeast as we do. Seems that the vocal minority loves to throw a track under the bus when things go wrong.

Please Please keep in mind THEY AREN"T BUILDING ANY NEW TRACKS , so work with the situation best you can. I like all the tracks in our division, but they are all differant and require a diff. approach sometimes.

And we had the thread recently about NHRA's board taking away our voting rights. That
decision is looking better every day.We are our own worse enemies.

Ed and Dave, I see your points! I love racing in the Northeast Division as much as anyone! But I just have not seen the commitment to provide us with the best racing surface and facility lately as I have seen in the past!

I don't know about you, but when I'm out there trying to win, the last thing I want to worry about is track conditions and whether or not my car is going to make it safely from the starting line to the return road! We all pay $170 to enter these races, so shouldn't we be provided with the best product for our money??? I just don't feel that is happening these days.......for whatever reason!

Ask yourself this.........What improvements have you seen done to any of our tracks that actually benefit the racers?

The quality of the ice cream has gone up.
Seriously,it seems like these latest incidents have to be looked at.It needs to be determined if driver error, weather, track prep (including compound problems),track condition and possibly equipment failure and lack of maintenence on our cars are causing these incidents. That goes for starting line issues. This needs to be done by the Div 1 staff and track owners.

If you guys want to have fun. Race in Div 2!! We have ALL (ok 4 of 6) of our races in a 6 week period not to mention two national events and at least 1 IHRA points race all squeezed in there. I hope the new Div Dir will realistically look at this and help all the racers. We now have less 1/4 mile tracks in Div 2 than ever before. I would really like to be in Div 1 where you have the opportunity to race. I know there are other divisions worse off then us. Best of luck to you all.

I couldn't agree more. Its insane having to worry about traction. It gets dangerous because you have to pull a massive wheelstand just to make sure it hooks. And that's not something you want to do when you're running a high HP car. I would pay double the entry fee if it meant I didn't have to worry about hooking up. I'm not saying that its always the tracks fault, but when you see cars spinning that normally don't spin, you have to ask yourself what's wrong here.

I feel bad not knowing that Kent was our Division 1 guy. I had no idea. That explains why he was the guy walking around the lanes asking people to sign a poll last weekend. Kent, what is the answer to traction problems? And can anything be done with the schedule?
