All words in Pomona spelled correctly from now on.... thanks for your patience...Our little group is almost to Oklahoma...Our travels today have met with a less than perfect pavement on I-40 West...Will enter into Noble in the morning...or sometime tomorrow. Joe Tysinger

Re: pomona pilgrimage
Not much to write about. We arrived in Noble this afternoon. 1,407 miles from our house and only missed one turn going to the track. Luckily a nice man let us circle through his front yard to turn around. Only thing that really concerned us was we had to pass by our very first storm shelter. Not a really good feeling. We only dodge hurricanes. Wallace and Gary are doing the parking and the track really did a nice job of grooming the pits. Now we are just hoping the rain holds off!! The Nowickis are here and Bobby Warren is about 40 miles away and will be here in the morning. Hopefully tomorrow we'll have more interesting news. Joe

We left Noble on Mon. about 6:00 pm ( a very short celebration) and traveled until about midnight and then traveled a VERY long day yesterday.. No pictures...as I had to rest!!! Pulled into the Vegas track this morning about 8:30 am (Vegas time) and we are #159 and should be in the track very shortly now.. These pictures were riding the last 100 miles or so in this morning and over the Hoover Dam..What breathtaking views...

Re: pomona pilgrimage
It was NHRA night on freemont street in old Las Vegas last night Joe Alice Tysinger, Allen and Marilyn Wade their brother and sister in law Les and Linda , Bobby and Carolyn Howald and Mark and Elaine Nowicki shared in on the fun. We sure did celebrate with good food good drink and lots of laughs.
The light show was great to watch. Along with the zip liners going overhead. The Halloween theme was present everywhere. At least we thought that was the theme not just regular atire. Wish you were all here to share the fun. Day off for super stock unless you were invited to the barn. We were lucky and none of us were invited. stock warming up for first round busy day for them. |
Re: pomona pilgrimage
Joe, any Div 4 guys that didn't know who you were when you arrived certainly knew about you when you left Noble! Great job!

Hi folks and Happy Halloween from Las Vegas...Third round was exciting for Super Stock this morning...A few pictures here of some of the winners..For the six of us in our camp, the biggest "dial in" was deciding if we should dial down to just eggs at the restaurant or "dial up" for the omelette. Bobby, Carolyn, Mark, Elaine, Joe and Alice at the Blueberry Hill restaurant was our breakfast site.. Might I add that we have been there so many times that waitresses know us by name and give us a hug.. This CANNOT be good!!! Waiting for Super Stock round four before we go into Vegas and celebrate Halloween.

Re: pomona pilgrimage

Hi folks...no racing today but all of us, Mark and Elaine, Bobby and Carolyn, Bobby Warren and Joe and Alice, went to Hoover Dam this afternoon.. WOW and WOW...Just awesome..Didn't even miss drag racing on one of our day's off.. Weather still just fabulous...We are all still living here on the "concrete" here at the Vegas Strip. Had a realy fun day..
|
Re: Pomona Pilgrimage
Every time I see the Hoover Dam it amazes me that it was built with the vehicles and equipment available in the late 1920's & 1930's !!
Looks like the lake is way down...... :-( |
Re: pomona pilgrimage
It makes you appreciate life more when you read the placque with all the names of the people who died building it.

Attachment 5890 Attachment 5891 Attachment 5892 Attachment 5893 Attachment 5894 Attachment 5895Sorry we haven't posted in a couple of days but we have really been busy.. Larry and Patsy, I know now how much fun you had on your trip. Tom, we just need you along for the pictures..Jack, even in Vegas I don't believe you would bring rain.. Seriously, on Tuesday our group was fortunate enough to get a close and personal tour of the Air Force Thunderbirds at Nellis Air Force Base. A good friend of mine, Jon Richardson, SS/AS, has a son who is a member of the team.. Derric Richardson is a real credit to the young men and women who serve our country and make it possible for all of us to not only enjoy our passion for racing, but also the freedom we enjoy. Thanks Derric, you are a credit to your family and the military. We were honored to meet two of the pilots and go behind the scenes, so to speak, and thoroughly enjoyed the day.. Wednesday, a trip to Red Rock Canyon and Bonnie Springs (old western town)v was the order of the day.. Alan Wade and Mark Nowicki stayed to run the combo race. Alan made it to the semi's , so naturally we used the evening to celebrate. Alice, myself, Bobby Warren and Willie Evans made the trip to the desert. One of the pictures you see is Bobby, Willie and Joe disecting the motor on this very old fire truck. Today has been pretty much relaxing and teching in for the race to start tomorrow. Hope everyone, at some time, gets to make this trip. Will post again soon.. Our daughter and her husband just flew into Vegas, so another night on the town... Joe and Alice |

Hi folks, sorry it is very late tonight as I post our day. As you can see, the excitement climbs ?!?!? ..Here is our Friday at 7:03 pm in Vegas. First we all went to IN and OUT Burger for lunch. ( Bobby Warren, Marilyn and Alan Wade, Mark and Elaine Nowicki, Bobby and Carolyn Howald, Wendy and Buddy Stallings (our daughter and son-in-law), and Joe and Alice. So... we have one picture of Alice and Wendy at dinner "in town" last night.. Elaine Nowicki and Carolyn Howald doing crafts for Christmas presents while we wait, and last and I saved the best til last.....Mark and Joe doing repairs to Tysinger's trailer where a man behind us backed into the flap wire and tore out pieces that shouldn't have been torn out...So, repairs were made.. Oh, I forgot to mention.....that Super Stock has NOT made a run yet today, and we're supposed to have two tonight..So, we are all hoping we'll get a run in about one hour... Joe and Alice
