Same Day Dutch Coverage (with video)
 

Ok, let me give this a try....Greetings from down in The Dutch.
Thats what can be said about todays action here at The Dutch Classic. The action started off in Stock with some high flying low and record runs. We made it through Super Street and then the sun started peaking and the track started weeping. The action was down from just after 11am until 1:15ish. Then one pair of Super Comp cars went down and so did the right lanes motor, causing more delays and the weepers kicked in to overtime again.
Action started again at just around 3pm continuing with Super Comp followed by Super Stock etc... There is a great field of Super Stockers that made this first round of qualifying and 10 of the 12 Hemi's I saw in the pits made passes. Two notable no shows from the Hemi Shootout are Daniels and Pancake...fill in the blank here...
A lot of cars were still filling the grounds but I was told a lot of the top points earners here in D1 from Stock/Super Stock/Comp are elsewhere chasing points out of Division this weekend.
Here is a video of some starting line action I took today from S/SS. Please tell me what you think, I can hunt and gather more info tomorrow, or leave the updates to the professionals. Thanks guys.

Great video, Rob! I arrived after the first Stock TT. At 4:30p, they cancelled the 2nd run. They announced that Stock will be first out tomorrow at 10:00am (sleep in!).

Very nice footage Rob,,, as is all your stuff on Youtube. Looks like a beautiful fall day at The Dutch. I've got to make it out to Maple Grove some day,,,its on my eastern to-do list, among other tracks.

Just witnessed the fastest passes and biggest wheelstands I've ever seen. I will post full runs later. What I did last night was just a sample and took three hours to do. Can't wait for next round...class eliminations.

His incrementals would indicate he spun quite a bit...he makes huge power, no doubt about that. This morning's SS session (if it stays negative DA especially) could be pretty sensational. In morning's stock session Barton ran 9.86 in A (not AA) trim....here goes the 'paper car' whining again. Barton's "Caution-Paper Car" on his fender is priceless.

Sure looks like a lot of cars are out west...but still a very impressive race and Rob's video is fantastic!

Jim, where did you get the incremental times from? I believe that if the Perkins Hemi has the power of Barton/Wescott's he will be a serious player. The couple films that I saw of that car it really left hard. Besides it is a beautiful car.

Wes Leopold Jr 8.421 @ 163.12. Quickest run in SS/AS class history by a tenth (previous best was set a few minutes earlier by George Vignogna @ 8.52), and .15 quicker and 8 mph faster than the current AS record. Air is showing on Live Timg to be corrected to near 0 feet or a little below sea level.

Excellent job on the video. No 40 seconds of staging between runs to make viewers lose interest. The Pros could learn a lot from you!

Maple Grove's website has a live video feed of the starting line from the tower. No audio, but at least you can see who's racing.

My name is Mike Bassin, just got home from MG. My wife and I were guests today, but sure enough Roger Leister and Lewis Bloom were kind enough to let me announce the first session of stock this morning. We started sending cars down track a bit after 10:00 am, temps barely 50 deg. and track temp. barely warmer. With excellent air and great track prep just about everyone got down the track real well, in fact many cars were 1 to 2 TENTHS better than Thurs. Enormous wheelstands real quick runs were recorded by many. Announcers live to send cars down the track when everyone is real fast like this morning. Great show, best to all the competitors. The video in this post is excellent also. A big thanks to Lex Dudas for having me and my wife Jeanne over today. We enjoyed every minute today!!
