CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
What would it take to ask NHRA Directors if we could include a CIC style of showdown, just like Pat's, at the other Sportsnationals? Maybe even include the Sports at Bowling Green. Same format, must win your class to get in, Stock vs Stock, SS vs SS until down to 8 or 16. I'm sure it wouldnt be hard to come up with a CIC money fund or some associate sponsors for this. What did it take to get the Top Stock classes in the events?
Guys, if you are performance driven, and think this may be fun. Lets try to work together and present it to the Division directors. 4 or 5 all out races a year would be awesome! What do you guys think? Wade O |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
..........maybe some these bogus new cars would show their hands....lol
How about at the Northern Sportsnationals......... Rock Haas |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
I would be there bracket racing blows..Back to the old modified days,my gf commented a few times how much fun it was when she went to the races no breakout racing when she was younger..Make it happen !!!!!

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
Wade Pat does this at the Sportsnats at No problem. Ed

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
The lack of responses here confuses me. I thought this would be something people would be interested in.
I'm with Monahan, I'm going to "sign off" on all performance topics....... See you guys in the spring.... Wade O |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
I would love to have more of these at other races. The CIC race is one of the reasons I'm currently trying to talk my dad into going to No Problem next spring.

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
You know I'm a player. We were anticipating a showdown at No Problem last year, but the weather had other plans. Course yall know Pat. He may come up with something more exciting.

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
Not sure if Pat finalized it,but I thought he was going to do it Thursday in 2011. Instead of class winners, anyone could enter and take a swing at it. At least that way, there would be less of a chance that weather would get in the way.
I am sure he will post details when finalized. Sounded like it had merit. I used to really like going to Florida for the Gville points, orlando Gators deal, but the schedule got so jacked up and the enhancements kicked in for the Gators. It just didn't make sense to go there any longer. Pat rolls out the Red carpet for sportsmen too. |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
Can ya run with the Mustangs & DPs when there is no break out, Wade? Might be a little less interest with the bogus cars involved.
|
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
Might be more interest. A couple years ago Shaws Caddy ran 2.0 under, but with the cic he didn't win the race. I think. I have been wrong before.

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
I got smoked by FI for years even lost at Indy class had a .503 light and ran 1.20 something under .I never complained once ,Yes it was disheartning. It didnt make me give up Im not a quiter.I think you guys need to either get some better p*$$y or maybe get your heads examined. Be grateful that u can race and that u love it or just stay home and go whine somewhere else.I am sure theres a whiners anonymous meeting somewhere shouldnt have to look to far !!!

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
Well honestly i still feel the way we did it at the US Class Nationals worked the best, Quickest 32 cars in SS and quickest 32 in Stock, and go racing, I think we had a -1.00 index hit and i carried shoe polish with me and would dial in the new index on the cars affected, which i trying to remember it wasn't but one i think.
I have talked to Jim Layton about doing a CIC race at Trails for the Sports, bottom line, if we had a sponsor for the deal it would happen. |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......

I was actually talking to someone else. Were they out running the good cars in your class by over 1/2 second right out of the box? |

Then I apologize.

Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
I hope to run the CIC race. Bring on the CJ's and everything else.
If the afhs is anything like the drafted page shown here It might be the only fun I have all season. That's why there might be a Neon for sale. |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
I ran the CIC race in Belle Rose in 09 and it was probably the most fun I've ever had in drag racing!!!
Before everyone throws their hands up in disgust that it will be dominated by the new Mustangs and Drag Packs, keep in mind you have to win class to enter!! So some of these guys may actually have to do some driving to earn their spot! And don't forget about a certain Caddy that went a combined 2 seconds plus under and lost 2nd or 3rd round! The CIC used to be a second under the old indexes, so they should make it .7 under now! That would really make it interesting!!! |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
wade the reason NHRA wont is because if you use pats model THERE IN NO ENTRY FEE... a free race to attract the heavy hitters to his race.
everyone just got to pats place !! jack |
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
Pat's race is great....But we would certainly pay entry if they had it at the Northern Sportsnats.....
|
Re: CIC Race at Sportnational Events......
I suspect that the CJ's and DP's would do only as well as their drivers can drive both ends of the track. That is why David Rampy, Sal Biondo, Dan Fletcher, and Lee Zane are such good comp racers, and one of the reasons why Al Ackerman won the championship in comp this year without hitting his index permanently. Remember the importance of taking too much CIC in the early rounds!
