2011 stocker season
Well, it seems as though NHRA is going to continue to shove these pseudo stockers down your throat. What are you going to do about ? If ever there was a time for the drivers to organize and protest it is NOW. Are you going to wait until they legislate your car uncompetitive. Some of you are going to say --' it does not concern my class " Oh but it does because it concerns stock eliminator---ALL OF IT. This is an attack on the rules of the stock class eliminator. You know, the rules you hold so precious. If you think this is going to go away , just remember what happened to the MP & GAS classes. I strongly suggest to organize a huge protest and hopefully there would be support from the the other sportsman classes. Let it start at Pomona ! NO CLASS RACING ! Either be a no show or show up but no fire up ! TIME TO STOP TALKING THE TALK AND DO THE WALK !!!!!!!!

Agreed? You are the man in charge aren't you? |
Re: 2011 stocker season
It won't matter a bit if you guys sit out the whole season. Those guys will battle it out for class among themselves. They'll all be AA or A at the end .
Then , Chrysler and Ford will just change the specs a bit ,NHRA will buy them, and they'll be right back in D , E and F again. I wish I had a good answer for you guys, but I don't see it at this time. |
Re: 2011 stocker season
If this all stays as is and what Mark said IS true let them race themselves. My money is good in other places and I am surely not going to piss it away with nhra. I said it in another post, IHRA looks better. I know west coast dont have a choice but from mid west to the east you do.

But we all saw what happened on the S/SS Forum when that happened. |
Re: 2011 stocker season
I'd rather just race.
This option doesn't sound like much fun. |

Re: 2011 stocker season
Finespline, I should probably already know this, but what class and what kind of car do you race?

Re: 2011 stocker season
Hi Ed, I have spent the last 2 years putting together a 1970 Nova for stock eliminator. I joined this post a few months ago to get a feel of what goes on in the class and what the future holds for class racing. The car is completely ready minus engine. The whole project is on hold because of what happened with fake stockers brought to you by Chrysler and Ford. Trust me ,it is not for lack of money because I have money by not throwing it down black holes. I have bracket raced cars in the 70's and walked away when electronics entered the picture. I also have a talent in bowling-----made some good money bowling amateur tournaments from New York to Vegas. Oh, BTW , I drove a F/G Corvette for almost a season before NHRA took all that away. My first love is still cars , unfortunately I see stock class racing as a eliminator in big trouble and all you people do is look down at bracket racers. Well, unless you people make a stand and be heard, the bracket racers will still be racing but stock class racers will restoring their cars for car shows.
Hey, I may not be completely right but this is what I see from being on the outside for awhile. Outside looking in ! Sometimes you have to step out of the box to see what is really going on inside. I want stock racing to continue and I would support a united front anyway I can. This is just my opinion as I can choose to sell my car or go bracket racing but I know of the time and investment some of you already have in your cars. There are decisions to be made. So , yes Ed I have stake in the future of class racing or I can walk away .----------------John |

Hey, I like bowling. My 'ol Stocker is slow as ****, but if you want to bowl a game, I'll spot ya a pin and bowl for a beer :) |
Re: 2011 stocker season
protested last year... not one nhra race !
and damn if they never seemed to notice... except that email telling me my number & membership expired... they didnt seem to care > surprise right ? captain jack |
Re: 2011 stocker season
Jack, your right they didn't care, don't care either. It seems to me that I didn't see that many of them in the winners circle once class runs were over. The racers are still going to race and the non-racers are still going to @*#&#@*. So it is what it is, race or not it will go on.
Just my thoughts. |

Re: 2011 stocker season
You may not have to worry about it at Pomona, there is a new post on
the board today stating that Stock is not listed for Pomona in Feb?? Since I am only a bracket racer I do not have the ability to look at the entry list for Pomona...yet to see if that statement is true or not. |
Re: 2011 stocker season
Anyone can look at National Event Entry statistics.

Re: 2011 stocker season
I absolutely think that the NHRA has done a poor job of dealing with the new cars thus far. Why be afraid of more classes? Why not have a "Late Model" designation to replace the old "FI"? I know it's up to the NHRA to decide but it is an honest question. I hope they're still working on it but I'm not going to quit racing while I wait. The new cars do not take away from the basic pleasures of racing Stock. My kids can still see their old man race, burnoffs, C12 burning and fresh engine paint "curing" still smell great, and we still get to race at National Events where thousands of spectators and even the pros still look at our cars. Stock is, after all, one of the hardest classes in all motor sports. Just passing tech is still a major accomplishment, even the pros know that. Building a car that will go a second under from scratch is a huge point of pride that can never be taken away. Also I just love hanging out with my Stock Eliminator family.

Where is the carb on a CJ?
|
Re: 2011 stocker season
Sorry if I am mistaken
Are you the guy trying to run H/SA with the wrong carb? Mopar Mag article ..Remember? |
Re: 2011 stocker season
Think the carb episode has already been beat to death and Chris offered his apology, he knows he screwed up...I'm in favor of moving on.
Chris, I too enjoy the stocker family; it's part of the reason we all do what we do in spite of all the obstacles. There's definitely cheaper ways to enjoy yourself. |
