might be interesting???

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
Not enough air flow with the 2 barrel to run with a 4 barrel combo in the same S/S class without causing a leak on purpose to promote more air flow when using the big cams/ported heads and that would not be legal. It would have a better chance as a stocker but it would still be a loser heads up with a 4 barrel combo unless the HP factor was drasticly reduced.

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
Horsepower on the 283/195 for Super Stock is 195, for stock HP it has been reduced to 170. J.Gower stock 3058

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
GT very good point.:D
the stocker way to go would be more fun and cheaper as a get your feet wet deal. i am looking for a car to get my feet wet with not going for a .8 under car just a good fun one to get lots of seat time with. but i understand about the 2bbl vs 4bbl thing as the 2bbl has no airflow. |
Re: 64 nova for superstock?
If you just want to play the 2bbl combo will be OK as long as you run Q (out where you live in Div 6....But when & if you want to go fast & have a good combo claim 65 & run the 327/250 combo ....fits G-H-I

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
if i claimed 65 would i have to put a 65 nose on my car? also the different taillights and trunk lid?
like ive mentioned bfore guys i apprecciate the help. i might be a new comer to the class but not the sport. once i get out of school its build time. i just want to get my ducks in a row. |
Re: 64 nova for superstock?
It's a natural R in stock now. With the 5hp reduction, it took an additional 83 lbs off of the combo. It should be right at 1 second slower than the 4gc 220/217 combo, from what a couple of knowledgible guys have said.

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
64 65 and 66 Nova 2-door Looks to me like a natural P car and up or down to O ,or , Q...283/195/170. I figured a mid 16.57 weight break. Wade must have figured a Chevelle body w/17.63 wt break....

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
so what else is in o and p car wise?
what the combo for L |
Re: 64 nova for superstock?
In IHRA the 283 4gc combo is rated at 210 hp and would run J , K , and L... That is what my 66 4-door combo runs in ...I may try the 2 bbl combo in my car ,I already have the intake and a prepped carb

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
In NHRA O/stock the S-10 Chevy truck with a V-6 and the 85 Mustang with a 302-carb, 89 Mustang(conv.) with a 302-FI, and Chevelle wagon with 283-220hp. NHRA P/stock is the S-10 Truck with weight added to it to move down a class, also same 89 Mustang with weight added. Danny Walters, is the HP on the 283/220-210 on both the stick and auto. in a 65-66 chevelle body in IHRA. Thanks; J Gower stock 3058

Re: 64 nova for superstock?
i meant if i claimed 65 for regular superstock,
but in GT i know it says can run any engine as long as its the same make as the body. whic in that case, wouldnt it be better to claim 67?? then you could have a q-jet instead of the 4gc? |
Re: 64 nova for superstock?
No 4bbl 283 in 67
|
Re: 64 nova for superstock?
Hey Danny! the better combo for your car is the 230.....IHRA Hp is 135 natural "T" add weight to "U" in U/SA you need to weigh 2870 with you in the car! 9.50 index 15.15 1/4 mile ;)
