Stocker Battery Location ?
This is for NHRA stock class. Does the battery have to be up front and can you run 2 batteries (one in front and one in trunk) ? What else would be diff from an IHRA stocker to an NHRA stocker as far as tech goes? I would like to dip in a little close by div races ,but want to be right when i get there if i can .... Thanks in advance for any info .........

Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
As I remember the NHRA rules, 1 battery must be in stock location. Second battery, (of the same size) allowed in the trunk but now you must have an external master cut off switch.

Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
No aluminum radiators (if not OEM)

Nine inch tires. Jim

Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
No aluminum drive shafts.
No deep oil pans. |
Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
I highly suggest becoming an NHRA member so you can receive the rulebook online. Contemplating a class car without a rulebook in front of you is like playing Russian Roulette!

Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
Danny, you'll need to make sure you request the "East Coast" version of the NHRA rules....LOL

Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
Well before i come a member i kinda was wanting to know how close i was to being legal for tech. I figured as much as i have tried to help other racers for IHRA that they maybe could kinda return the favor. I know i am close ,but knew you guys could probably help a little.. Just seeing if it was worth buying a membership at all... How about a license or a physical for I , J , and K stock or lower ? So far , I am seeing a battery in front and a oil pan change. Thanks again........NEXT................................. ...................................

Danny, No license or physical for a mid to lower class NHRA stocker. As Ed said a race jacket and depending on ET probably pants too. I have to look into the pants thing for Pro bracket ET to see if I will need it there too. |
Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
Thanks guys... I may be closer than i was thinking...... Happy New Year!!!!!!!....

Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
Danny,
Battery can't be one of those fake store display ones either. You guys tickle me on the pants thing. You will slip on a pair of pajama britches in a Heartbeat. Why not fire pants instead. Chip Johnson |

Danny,
Battery can't be one of those fake store display ones either./////// I have seen a few of those .............Think i will just put a little one up front and keep the one in the trunk since i already have a master shut-off.. |
Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
It has to be the same size as the one in the back too.
Be careful Mike and Scooter may be reading.LOL Chip |
Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
There is a approved deep oil pan for your Chevy II. Maybe Travis Miller could chime in. Bill Basham has one on his car in Div. 4.

Re: Stocker Battery Location ?
Danny, I purchased my Malibu wagon from IHRA racer, I installed battery in stock location but didn`t hook it up, so you can take battery out for IHRA and put back in for NHRA. Tom
