NHRA just released survey results...
Scotty rule is out and indexes remain the same....

Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Something must be missing in their numbers. The math doesn't work when you add it all up. There must be another group they don't mention.
|
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
so in reality 55% wanted change in S/C and 49.3 % wanted change in S/G.
Maybe next time just ask if they want to speed it up or leave it alone. too many choices made the indexes stay the same. wake me up when it's 2020 ! |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
So then the poll should have been done in two parts; poll for a change.... then poll for the index. 7.90 or 8.50 and of course 8.90 and 9.50 for s/g.

So the results are: "Index stays the same!" |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
I think we paved new ground here......lol
We took a vote and the NHRA changed a rule.....now the stage is set for further things that we would like changed.....some of the guys will get their email fixed up.....and take it more seriously.....this just shows that it can happen..... Thanks to Mike Rice for being our liaison....... Rock Haas |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Yes, we did take a vote, but of the 2301 eligible voters, you got 987 replies. Not exactily the cross section of racers I was hoping for. In my opinion, we Super Streeters just made it harder on ourselves to get in National events. Maybe not this year, but in the near future. E

Re: NHRA just released survey results...
BOOO .... Super Street Scotty rule has been pulled. Super Street is about to get ALOT tougher. Here come all the class Back Pedalers.
|
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
So now Super Gas cars can enter Super Street if the field is ever full again? That would be cool.... 10.90 at 165 or so.... Just have to load the box up a bit for the slower tree....

99% would need a roof.............lol |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
For some reason I was thinking that roadsters were legal in S/ST.
|
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
They are
Chuck |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Then why would they need a roof? LOL
|
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
I'd have to look in the rule book but I don't think they are allowed .
|
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
I know several people that run roadsters in super street. Bob Fuller won back to back events in a corvette roadster four or five years ago.

Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Any left steer is OK in S/ST, it just has to cross the scales at 2800 while meeting the General Reg. on ballast (no more than 500 pounds) and all other rules.
S/ST grade points must be used to enter a S/ST national. So a S/G guy can't throw in an extra car and enter S/ST at his next national just because the field is open, unless he has the S/ST grade points. I'm as amazed as Rock that they actually read a survey result and changed a rule...but this one was a no-brainer in terms of economics. You can only have more entries than before. |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Just went and got my old book and I guess according to the rules (open for interpretation) a roadster can run S/St.
I'm sorry......................:( |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Rule book
Full fenders,hood,grille,top,windshield,and functional doors,sports cars,street roadsters,vans and panel trucks,and pick up trucks ,120 inch wheel base. |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
I wonder how Fullers Davis roadster got thru, no doors???????
|
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
So it's official, throw a couple of hundred pounds in the car, eat lots of cheeseburgers and run some 10.90s. Yahoo!!!! :D

Re: NHRA just released survey results...
I don't understand the guys that are affraid of SG backpedalers, roadsters or whatever entering SST. Couldn't they always do that. All that changed is multi-car racers can have one car entered in SST.
Are you saying that multi-car racers that try to enter SG at a national event will enter SST instead because SG filled up? How many multi-car racers would that be? Besides they will have to add quite a bit of weight to do that. That will change their whole setup I would think. |

Re: NHRA just released survey results...
all i know NO Roadsters or Super class Funny Cars allowed at the Mt Vernon, Pacemakers Raceway Park SST series this year !
Here was my post on Pacemakers site a few weeks ago Here is 2011 rule changes, this is sketched in stone already, AND has been approved by series sponsor, Bill Jackson & track operator Mike Fouts 1. New Index 7.00 2. NO open bodied cars at all, If it doesn't have a roof, working door, full windows, ect it's not going to race in SST at Pacemakers 3. Courtesy staging Plus everything else stays the same as we did in 2010, ladder fields, higher Q'ed car gets lane choice all the way through. No NOS. I will post schedule soon! Joe |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
NHRA did good in my opinion on this.
I don't think you will see many SG cars drop back to SST unless they were not real good SG cars. My SST car will run 9.90 but that don't make it a 9.90 car. What you will see is racers like me bring a extra car. I think NHRA is making it more and more enticing for me to come play now that I can bring both cars. THANK YOU NHRA Chip Johnson sst2924 sc? |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Chip, You nailed it right on the head! Thats exactly what I meant. I think some of the better funded racers will take along a 10 sec. car to play. Then a guy who only runs some local div. races can't get in to the Nats. ( E-town only takes 50 cars) E

Re: NHRA just released survey results...
E,
You still have to use sst grade points to get in a national. So if you run a few divisionals you probably got a better chance than a big guy that brings along an extra car cause he can. How many extra cars do you think will show up? You may get 4 or 5 per race. With the car counts in sst they need them. Chip |

I love change.....Change is good:)

Re: NHRA just released survey results...
I would like to try SST this year. All I need to do is add 25-30 lbs to make minimum weight and turn the timer on for a decade. It may not like it for all I know, but I want to try it. And my Vega has original front suspension and a roof. Not that I am scared of SG because there is nothing better than beating 60k roadsters with my dinosaur, but I just want to see what is like to be one of the faster cars instead of being 9 miles out front. Should be fun. I’m sure Chris Depascale (sc1153) will call me a back pedaler, but nobody cares what he thinks anyway… HA HA

Dan, you won't like it stay in S/G.hehehe. On the other side of the picture you'll have to get use to slow cars like mine going128mph.
|
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Hey E, in no way do I think SST is easy, I watch you guys all the time and there are some bad dudes in D1 SST. I just want to try it.
Robbie, me chasing someone is unheard of ! Off to the EAGLES game I go, Jayco is loaded and ready for battle ! GO BIRDS |
Re: NHRA just released survey results...
Dan won't have to worry about judging 128mph Super Street Cars....he's raced my 117mph Super Gas Car a few times already so I've trained him well...haha
