Ok, I guess i will open a can of worms here ... No since in having the only post not mentioning the "new cars".... I heard there will be some NEW GT cars with the good ole DP combo and will probably run all the GM combo's to Super street or Hot rod . Uh-Oh !

might just be fed up with everything in general.
Rule changes that cost $$$
Insurance deals that cost $$$$
Sanction body dropping popular eliminators at some national events
and last but not least........... Price of Gas going up to $5 maybe by summer, I know myself for one person if that happens is staying close to home.

With the economy , cost of food going up, gas, issues in class cars. It is cutting out some people. Then some might just be reading the handwriting on the wall and moving to NEW stuff for Factory Fun.

Don's Thoughts are
Not sure everyone is fed up in general not everyone posts on this site and the internet plus only the minority are the vocal ones not the majority

Don's thoughts safety rules are ok and racing costs money, and if after spending thousands of dollars on your race car and now you complain about a small increase in racing

Don's thought most racers go to all the meets they can afford or have a desire to go to not a problem

Don's thought drive slower get better gas mileage and go racing closer to your home or division.hey racing is expensive if a person can't afford to race then don't but don't assume just because the small vocal minority that posts on the internet are the way all racers think .
thanks I will get off my old soap box .

by the way where are all the gt cars that are for sale posted ? a friend of mine is looking for on front wheel drive conversion for sale

Re: Anybody Noticed ?????

All the ones i have seen are on here and a few other well known sites and all seem to be GM (88 and up Camaros and such.) They look to be good cars with good history to them..We got one too but may be having second thoughts now as a ss/gte ,f ,and g ....It's already slow.....May just wait and see who the giant killers will be....

Re: Anybody Noticed ?????

I'm sure some of it has to do with the FWD conversion cars being the preferred way to go GT at the moment.

Re: Anybody Noticed ?????

Camaro/Firebird is not the preferred car for GT, especially the way they have been allowing the new FWD GT cars to be built.

Don't take this personally, but using the "small increase in racing" when refering to costs and justifying carrying on is very overused and getting old. Add up ALL the "small increases" over the last few years and it adds up to quite a bit of money! Different people have different limits and they cut back accordingly. It doesn't matter if it's racing, going out to eat, vacations, smoking, drinking, etc.

Its called the high cost of low living.Wages have decreased and everything else has went up in cost.As Myron stated its prioritys,Some people wanna drink, some like hookers, some like blow but the hard core racers get to the track with no complaints. surrounded by friends at disney world. They live a positive life and turn negatives into positives. At the track, they could care less about the high profilers they bought what they have.,they dont care if you are fuel injected or u got a shot of nitrous. The racers that dont complain earned what they have they didnt show up with a load of dough ..Right now a smart man can captilize on all the negatives and have a stock pile of cars.BTW Danny I think i may have something for you If i go to Palm Beach :)

Re: Anybody Noticed ?????

Danny,
I took a look at the GT cars that were for sale on this forum. If my memory isn't failing, too much, several of those cars have been on the market for more than a year. At least one nearly 2 years. This isn't just a sudden sell off. I think they just all hit the "want ads" about the same time. Some being re listed. I know one of the sellers is just "finished" and one of the other(I'll go out on a limb here) has changed jobs and has a young family that is probably more important than racing. I got to know him when he was living here and frequented the shop. I found him to be a very nice young man. I'm sure Scott's car is a fine ride and well worth the money. I think the economy situation has an influence on most all of us and our racing programs. I'm also pretty sure some of us are a little put off by the newest enhancements that seem to make S & SS more of a Non-Performance category. Each seller has a reason for making his sale and I would bet there isn't some dark, sinister reason behind all the GT sales.

The older I get......the more I notice everyone else is getting older too.....I keep wondering where the young guys are.

Re: Anybody Noticed ?????

May be you are right Adger... It may be i just notice it more since my son has one of them now. He was very fotunate in the 90's classes and in bracket racing. Could be i am just a little worried on his new venture. He has won Iron men in all the IHRA 90's classes and one pro-am in T/D and stock.....Just got the jitters a little ,but he is very cofident in himself and i will be too. We have talked about it and he says his superstocker is not going to be for sale for a long time. Dad always worry more than son does.....lol
