Live from PBIR

Well we're here, left Cocoa for a short 2 -hr drive to PBIR. We're staged in the sportman entrance , there's about 30 or so rigs here . Heard they'll let us in at 4pm. Not to rub salt in it, but its a sunny 71* right now.Sure beats being home, they had 5 "of snow. I heard some of you further north got alot more. Stay warm. Robbie

We only got about 2 inches and it's almost gone. Beard (duck boy) and company are enroute but just got into Florida. Between you and him, we should feel like we're right there. You should be all teched in with the grill fired up by 4:30. Sweet! It must be nice to have enough on the hip to do the Florida four swing. Are there any signs up....don't feed the Gators and don't play with the Cotton Mouths?

Saw Ruddy Matthews from Ohio, while talking to him an otter came out of the woods probably a gator chasing him. Still not letting anyone in yet????? 50 or so rigs staged now.

Re: Live from PBIR

It's a real shame that IHRA can't get anymore racer support than what I'm seeing on DRC. They are providing you a place to race, and maybe that can place just a little presure on the NHRA. I thought the folks on here bitchin about the way they get treated (by the NHRA) would take a stand. I guess it's not really that bad after all. I say thank you to the folks that made the trip...the ones that race just to race. They are keeping it alive, and I will be happy to join them again soon! I often hear the racers saying "support the manufactures that support racing" hell the racers won't even support the sanctioning body. I hope that I don't develope the "I'm to good for IHRA syndrome" when I come out. I know I never did when I was out before!

I would have been there is we were able to get one of these darn cars finished..... Did not think it would be this bad to update a car ( almost 2 years now). And running low on funds to get the new Dragster finished, but soon it will be done and Ill be back to breaking parts, I mean racing with everyone else...

Well, we got two shots at the track today. It was in great shape and one of the smoothest surfaces I've raced on. I was a little off on the first shot 028, 10.837. The second I was paired with Rudy, I was 009, 10.95 he was 012, 10.83. At least I hit the tree (racing some one like Rudy brings that out). Still trying to post photos hopefully tomorrow we get it.

Re: Live from PBIR

Thanks Tom. We ended up #1, 004 &10.906. But it's official I still suck. First round 038 & 10.904. Second round I was 028 &10.866, he was 027 & 10.88 and I had a ton of stripe. I'll learn one day, you can't wait until the mph stripe to react. Well it's off to Immokalee tomorrow .Tom Joseph, now I have time to work on the photos thanks. Bob, Rudy's running his permanent number.

I would really, really like to(and would any other year).....just don't know how much I'm racin this season. It's definately one of my top picks for 11 but we'll see how busy I get this summer.....I quite possibly will be building 3 houses. I think I parked next to you in 07, which was the only time I've been there. I REALLY liked the place...not a bad drive either.

Wade, you do realize that it was only January 29th, right? Most people aren't even thinking of racing yet. Sure it's nice to get out of the cold weather in late January for a trip down to Sunny Florida, but in order to do that it also means that you need to do a lot of work on your stuff between November 1st and mid-January, not to mention the holidays are mixed in there are well.

IMHO, IHRA screwed up by having this race so darn early. I realize they'll be racing in Bradenton in 2 weeks, but I think their turnout would have been MUCH better had they scheduled this in late-February, or early March.

Just my $0.02.

Yeah, We did park next to each other, that's the year you won (your Div) I think ,wasn't it? We're going to Immokalee Wednesday. We'll be parked by Rudy Matthews and Craig Porter. Good luck with whatever racing you do this year.
