Mark was tough all day! First one of the year. Congrats! Jim

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
Yeah....real tough field.......9 cars total.....LOL. All of the S/S racers should be ashamed of this kind of car count. The weather was great. The track was great according to the prople I talked to. I hope you all are happy when the only place left to race is NHRA and their enhancements.

Congratulations Mark and family. I hope this explains my earlier post better. It wasnt meant to make your win any less of an acomplishment. I just hope all of the S/S racers who avoid racing with IHRA for one reason or another enjoys the enhancements they recieve this year and beyond. Especially when S/S or Stock dosent exist anymore in IHRA. |

What I found was even my old friend Bob Marshal with "Dodge Material" SS/BA made the trip from the snowed in area of Ohio and was enjoying the sun and warmth of Florida with his wonderful wife. A double points race next weekend on top of it within a couple hours drive. Look in a mirror and ask yourself.....Where was I this past weekend? The stock and S/S racers on here are like trying to herd cats in a round up and its been this way for years when IHRA could and DID pay excellant money for class and the eliminator before the fuel prices went up. You guys complain about a few hundred dollars of class money but what do you do to support the very life blood of a racing association ? If time and money is so tight for your program that you can only run the NHRA events then have at it. I spent years trying to get guys to race IHRA in areas that are over run with class cars but no one showed up. Stock its self was on the way out years ago in IHRA but I managed to save it with increased car counts by coming up with what you all seem to hate.....The crate motored classes. A hand full of cars for those who could buid what they liked and could afford to go class racing with the same rules and FACTORY engine specs enforced as the rest of you play with and look at what NHRA has done to you with the DP's and new Mustangs. I doubt the class legal cars will survive in the coming few years. The hand writing is on the wall if you just open your eyes and look at whats going on. Im done here with this. There is just no making you people happy. I hope it works out on the west coast for those like Gary and his Z-24 FWD car who want to see some change but dont get your hopes up. As they say money talks and BS walks. Its just not in the class racers nature to support anything other than NHRA. Most racers from anywhere except North Carolina just look down their noses at IHRA as a red headed step child. I have seen this keep happening over and over for years and years without fail. |
Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
I run with them when I can. I have no problems with them at all. Most SS cars I remember is 12. Never did understand why.

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
I see what you are saying techman about the nhra boys not supporting these races but I also have a gripe with IHRA moving these national events so far away from where their core supporters are in the mid-atlantic region. I believe most of the hardcore IHRA racers are from this region and like me would have to travel atleast 8 hours to a national event(would have been 13 to PBIR). Although they are giving us 2 sportsnational races which I am thrilled about I have no intention on going to a national event like many others around here because they have moved them so far away trying undoubtedly to lure the before mentioned nhra guys. Let's be realistic here and keep the races where you have support and when the other guys get tired of taking it in the backside they can come or quit or atleast shut up. Just my thoughts and not intended to offend anyone. Oh yeah 9 or 90 cars a win is a win and it is what it is. Maybe I will pack up and go to Salt Lake this year where they didn't have no HR cars last year and pick me up an Ironman.

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
That's exactly the problem, it's just not economically feasible for many to tow that far so why move these national events so far away from the people that really want to race? I can afford to tow that far but can't afford to leave home an extra day just to pack it half way accross the country to race. I will race my divisional and hit two division 2 doubles and probably go to Richmond and be happy! But I will not travel 8 to whatever hours to race a national event when they keep moving them further away from me to attract people that don’t or will not race with them. Get my point?

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
Ok we are more on the same page but I still wish IHRA would look for some venues a little closer to this area. I believe they would be better off in the long run.

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
It really is a shame that PBIR (Palm Beach) is so far away from the majority of the racers because it really has become one of the finest pure race tracks in the country. No real frills or fancy stuff, even parking can be a problem, but it is just a perfectly smooth track with optimal traction at a sea level modern facility. The biggest problem the track has ever had is management! However, when the IHRA comes to town that all seems to go away! I have been there twice since the IHRA came into control and had a great time! Jim

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
Congrats Mark & Elaine,
on your Win in S/S, don't ever forget the money spends the same ... also nice job Brien on the RU spot.. |
Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
We have IHRA tracks here on Div 4 that are no further than the NHRA tracks. Still very few show up. Mark shouldn't need to feel guilty about the car count. At least here in Div 4 most of the real hitters do show up. The Cummins clan, Latino boys, Southland Perf, Hagen Gary, ect. Very few turkeys like myself. Not many easy rounds. I have no idea why nobody shows up, the other guys say they don't understand it either.

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
Hands down this was the best race track that I have run on in a long time. I had personal bests for 60 and 330 ft times all weekend. the track was perfect every run. There was ample parking and the event was very well run for the sportsman portion of program. All of the super stock racers were regular NHRA guys. No IHRA only racers showed up. There were actually 10 cars but Pat Clifford broke a ring and pinion on his first qualifing attempt so they did not include him on the ladder. Everyone missed a great event and a great time. The weather was beautiful.
Congrats to Mark and Brien for driving and dialing great. |
Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis

Re: Congratulation to the Nowickis
Thanks for all the congratulation notes. We had a great time this weekend at one of the best tracks in Florida. We would like to congratulate Brien and Trudy Radley on a great race. It could have gone either way, lady luck was with us this one. Big thanks to Dan Walcott and Bobby Howald for all the help they gave us this weekend. The IRONMAN is very handsome on our mantle. Looking forward to racing IHRA again in the sunshine at Immokalee next weekend. Hope to see "you all" there. Not quite southern yet.
Thanks Again Mark and Elaine |
