Bobby Black
Bobby's nephew, John King has informed me of Bobby's passing a few hours ago following a lengthy battle with cancer. Anyone who knew or raced against Bobby, his son, Danny Black, his brother-in-law, Buddy King, or any of his friends or family in the Avon/Plainfield area of Indiana will realize that the world is a lesser place without Bobby. He was a gentleman and a dedicated racer and he will be missed by everyone who knew him.
My family extends heartfelt condolences to the entire extended family and the wide array of friends of Bobby Black. It is, indeed, a sad day. c |

Danny, so sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was a real gentleman. At the track if I saw him coming my way I knew we would have a pleasant conversation.

Very sorry Danny.....

Re: Bobby Black
Bobby was a big help when I started racing. Back when I started there was no internet and you had to rely on other (older) racers to help you. Since we ran the same combo we would share information. He was very helpful and I hope later on I was helpful to him. He was always great to talk to and I will miss him very much. RIP Bobby Black.

Re: Bobby Black
I have to say this is a hard post to write.
Bobby and I had alot of good times at the track, I always looked up to bobby, he was a friend, mentor and one heck of a 4-speed driver. The best times I had racing were when Bobby, Susan, Danny, Freddy Buris, Buddy King and Ken Hutchinson and I all traveled and parked together, the stories that were told among that group were some of the best, racing without bobby will not be the same. Danny if you or your mom need anything, I am only 2 hours away. Thank you Bobby for the great memories, RIP my friend. |
