Yep, usually the hottest part of the year. Still liked it there. Looks like an expensive place to operate. Much grass up mow. Lol

Mickey as someone who lived in Memphis for 20 years I can remember points races with over 100 stockers. The low turnout races were the times they raced in late June or in August. When the races were early or later in the year there always seemed to be a lot of cars. This is great news because Memphis is centrally located for a lot of racers.

I hear stuff about the weather a lot, like when I moved south, everybody told me how hot it was going to be. I remember racing at Quaker City one summer when it was 100 degrees every weekend, and even a national event in Canada when it was 98 deg and 98%. If you stay home, it's still going to be hot out.

I'd like to see them move the World Finals to Memphis next year. A more central location (and an end of year schedule for those who can't/won't race when it's hot) would be great for Tournament of Champions qualifiers from other parts of the country. Would be a great spot for a Bracket Finals, too.

Remember how HOT it was at Byron, Ill. during the US Class Nationals ? It sure didnt hurt the car count there as I teched in everyone of them.......LOL. I have heard the same about Florida in the summer. After being here for a season the weather wasnt as bad as most say. I sure beats the heck out of snow and ice with freezing temps all winter long !

That's what I'm talking about. I rather it be 103 degrees everyday then 33 degrees everyday. Hell, down here in Louisiana, weather is so nice to us, we race 12 months a year.

YES. 107, mebbe 104 in the shade. If you drank a bottle of water, it fell out your feet... and everyone had a GREAT time at one of the best races ever.

Well, to each their own. I spent my basic and AIT in Fort Polk, La. in 1971 starting in May. Great place to go for jungle training. There were days it got so hot and humid that the army would actually back down on the training. -----------John

If they do have a low car count it will not be because of the track, it is as good as any including the location. The economy is more of a factor as well as more people are looking for a reason to "not race" for whatever reason. Im sure they will have some great races there and make them very appealing to the people that want to race.

It was hotter than that in the Nam. I remember building bunkers in 115 degree heat. Some guys wished we would get hit so we could get down in our holes for some shade.....LOL
If ya cant stand the heat then get out of the kitchen !

Been there , Done that ! Fort Polk was great for building you up for the even greater experience. The heat I learned to handle but the humidity at times was indescribable. Did not think the human body could sweat as fast as when I was in Nam. A diet of water and salt pills. LOL

I think these guys that bought Memphis are going to be a player in the motorsports world. I heard they were looking at St. Louis also.

They took PBIR and turned it around. If they dump the same money into it I wouldn't be surprised if they could do the same with MMP.

Which one would you prefer to race at? Heads up with the new DP's and Mustangs or with them in a different class?

My bad. I can't tell the difference from one NASCAR track to the other.
