Re: Memphis now IHRA
I hear stuff about the weather a lot, like when I moved south, everybody told me how hot it was going to be. I remember racing at Quaker City one summer when it was 100 degrees every weekend, and even a national event in Canada when it was 98 deg and 98%. If you stay home, it's still going to be hot out.
I'd like to see them move the World Finals to Memphis next year. A more central location (and an end of year schedule for those who can't/won't race when it's hot) would be great for Tournament of Champions qualifiers from other parts of the country. Would be a great spot for a Bracket Finals, too. |

Remember how HOT it was at Byron, Ill. during the US Class Nationals ? It sure didnt hurt the car count there as I teched in everyone of them.......LOL. I have heard the same about Florida in the summer. After being here for a season the weather wasnt as bad as most say. I sure beats the heck out of snow and ice with freezing temps all winter long ! That's what I'm talking about. I rather it be 103 degrees everyday then 33 degrees everyday. Hell, down here in Louisiana, weather is so nice to us, we race 12 months a year. |

Re: Memphis now IHRA
If they do have a low car count it will not be because of the track, it is as good as any including the location. The economy is more of a factor as well as more people are looking for a reason to "not race" for whatever reason. Im sure they will have some great races there and make them very appealing to the people that want to race.

Re: Memphis now IHRA
Been there , Done that ! Fort Polk was great for building you up for the even greater experience. The heat I learned to handle but the humidity at times was indescribable. Did not think the human body could sweat as fast as when I was in Nam. A diet of water and salt pills. LOL

Re: Memphis now IHRA
I think these guys that bought Memphis are going to be a player in the motorsports world. I heard they were looking at St. Louis also.
