Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Hello, everybody. I finally made it to the track about an hour ago. Flew into Ontario, CA on Tuesday. There was a minor problem with the tranny that needed to be fixed. Our tranny guy, Dave Flores, fixed it for us this morning. Then the last one of my old Goodyear tires on the truck went bad. Not sure when it happened, but it wouldn't hold air anymore. Went to the Walmart in Redlands, CA and took it off to see what was going on. The sidewall started to peel off by the bead. Took it in to get a Uniroyal tire, but this store didn't carry any. So I put the spare on went to the Walmart in Beaumont. That old Goodyear probably has about 100K miles on it, but it was good for $44 off the new one on the pro-rate. Only bad thing about it was it took at least two hours for somebody to start working on it. I have Uniroyals on all the rims now. They seem to be a lot better tire.
You know how Andy's Dad is always bragging about the weather in southern cal? Well, it was rainy and miserable there today. It's nice and warm here in Phoenix though. Got a fresh motor and trans in the Whale now. Gonna try to do some testing and tuning tomorrow. I'll try to keep you updated on what's happening here. I'm going to try something a little different this year. Well, better get to bed. Lost a hour from LA to here. See you tomorrow. -Toby |

Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Hey Toby, greetings from D1. Looking foward to meeting you today at Phoenix. Maybe I can try to contribute to the post. They say that CA. weather should be here Sat/Sun. (that stinks!!) E

Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Toby have they posted a schedule, nothing on the website for Div7.

Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
See you guys tomorrow.
Hope to see more cars go down the track, than last year. |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Sorry I haven't posted yet today. I've been busy making test runs. The cars isn't running as quick as we'd like, but it's running fine and there's no issues with it.
It's the usual test-n-tune day. Nothing exiting has happened. I saw a schedule up at the trailer. I'll go take a picture of it and post it here. -Toby |

Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
I told you I was going to try something a little different this year. I've always wanted to get a video camera, but I never have. HD camcorders are pretty cheap nowadays so I figured why not? I haven't used a video camera since I used to use my dad's old 8mm camera back in the 70s when we would go on vacation. Hopefully I'll get better as the season goes on.
Since I'm uploading the videos through my phone, I have to reduce the resolution and quality to make the file size reasonable so it doesn't take forever to upload. I think they still look pretty good. I could just upload them to youtube, but youtube encodes the video again which reduces the quality even more. So I'm uploading them to a free file host. To play the video you need to have the H264 codec installed. If the video won't play install this codec pack: http://www.cccp-project.net/download.php?type=cccp If you still have problems playing the video, leave a reply here or PM me and I'll see if I can help. Here's the folder where I'll be uploading my videos for this race: http://www.mediafire.com/?c2fmnxs59c6dq26 Just click on the the link and it will take you to the download page then click on the link to download the file. This is just a video I shot real quick so I could have something to upload tonight so that you could make sure you'll be able to play them. Tomorrow I'll have more time to shoot video and hopefully I'll get some shots of the Super Stockers making their time runs. Here's a preview of what's in the video: http://i15.fastpic.ru/big/2011/0218/...61702d7426.jpg |

You certainly have raised the bar on "Live" reporting ...................Super job Toby . |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
They aren't going to start until 9 AM. Apparently the track is too cold. Too bad they couldn't have told us yesterday. I could have slept in another hour. :)

You installed the codec pack, right? You need to use Windows Media Player or any movie player program. The codec pack installs Windows Media Player Classic. Try using that. It's located in the Start Menu > All Programs > Combined Community Codec Pack. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Worked for me.....Thanks, I enjoyed it.....loved hearing an alcohol car in the background and it felt like I was there. Helps motivate me.......Sick of winter for sure.....

Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Been having problems uploading today. It keeps stopping in the middle then it starts over again. I finally got it uploaded. It's the Stock staging lanes before the first qualifying pass. Now I'll see if I can get first round of Super Stock uploaded.

Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
What's Private Ryan doing there, polishing his wheels?
|
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
They canceled the third round of qualifying so we are done for the day. Hopefully it doesn't rain too much tomorrow. I'm still working on getting SS Q1 uploaded.

Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Good videos,
The VLC player will play them too. Cnet reviewed VLC. http://download.cnet.com/VLC-Media-P...-10267151.html |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Seems to be a little slow there? Or did nhra change the correction data?
|
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
It used to be factored here but they made it an unfactored track several years ago. Phoenix and Bristol lost their factor the same year.
-Toby |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Super nice job Toby!!!!!!!
Tell Bernie C he needs a haircut.......................... |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
I've figured out a lot better way to do it. I'm uploading the files to my computer at home then I will upload the files to Mediafire from there. This way if I lose connection or whatever I will be able to resume the upload where I left off. Most free file hosts don't allow you to resume uploads so you have to start over.
I should have the files uploaded before I go to bed. I will post when each file is available. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
OK, Super Stock Q1 part 1 is up in the same folder as above. I split it into two parts to try and make it easier to upload. It's not great, but it was my first time doing it. It's hard on an old man's shoulder to hold a camera up that long. :) I might have to invest in a tripod. I think I did quite a bit better on Q2 though. Hope you enjoy.
-Toby |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
SS Q1 part 2 is now up. This is footage of them going down the track. I would put a preview up, but it really doesn't tell that much.
-Toby |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Stock and SS Q2 are now up. I think I did a little bit better on SS this time. Same folder:
http://www.mediafire.com/?s5svccv6x5475 Looks like the rain is going to hold off until noon today according to the weather channel site. We should be able to get one more time run in this morning. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Sizable head wind this morning. I just measured it outside my trailer and it said 8-10 MPH. Barometer is down about .2 also. Don't think many picked up in Super Stock this morning. Jim Rau and John Winslow said they slowed down .15 and .09 respectively, but Greg Luneack and Ryan McClanahan only slowed down .02. Definitely different conditions today though.
Just called Stock. -Toby |
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Weather report shows rain. How does it look there?
|
Re: Live from the Phoenix LODRS
Toby, Great job in video. If anyone is at home and has high speed internet and a playstaion 3 you can watch these on your big screen tv. Its way cool then.
