Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
You probably don't need a 12 bolt for that car, especially if you're going to run a 305 or smaller engine. If you can get the right gear to go in an 8 5/8" 10 bolt, it'd probably be a little faster. Nothing really wrong with putting a 12 bolt in it if you want, it'll last longer and require less attention and maintenance. It just might not be quite as quick, if you care a lot about ET.

Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
why is the 8.5/8 faster if this isn't a stupid question.what if it is a stick car?
Thx |

Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
Mark is right. In fact, with a stick car, go buy a new KTR 12 bolt housing, from Mark Williams, Strange, or Moser, with big bearings, steel caps, steel spool, rear cover with girdle, and 35 spline axles.
I figured you were going to run a 305 automatic, like a TH200. My mistake. |
Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
no i won't run a auto, haven't ever ran one always a stick.but i was wondering about these stock rules since all i ever ran was modified before...trying to teach old dog new tricks..lol
Thx |
Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
NOT A SLUSH BOX!?!?!!?
how dare you try and swim upstream! ;) what class ya figguring on being in? |
Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
It looks like it will drop into K or L,
I think at least that what i figured,That is why i was wondering about if i could use a 12 bolt instead of the 10 bolt.I still think like a Modified racer so i need the strength,i figure it will have a 5.38 or 5.57 gear in it. Thx |

Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
Mike,
You can E-mail or PM him through this site. Listed in member list as Mike Taylor 3601 Glad to see you settled on the stocker. Don't try the 10 bolt. I had a customer that chased one for about 3 years. It always broke at the wrong time. In the finals or first round!! If you know what I mean.... :~) |

Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
Mike you may want to get a hold of Mike & David DeFrehn. They have a shop in South Charleston & their stuff is fast. They also have done these dish 305's...... just give ya a head start & they live close. ;)

Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
Mike,
I have an old bud that runs the 305 combo in stock with a stick. I'm pretty sure it is the dish version of the 305 and he had Woodro work the heads. You can e-mail him or PM him through the member list on this forum. Go to community in the upper bar and click on Memeber list. When it opens got to the far right and click on Search member. Then type in REGGIE WINKLES It will bring up his profile and you can click on the Contact tab to PM or e-mail him. Tell him we are going to have a Birthday Party @ the Thunder Road IHRA race... Re: What Rearend are Legal in Stock Eliminator
Mike the DeFrehn's run SS but have built some good "stocker" engines. I live up the road in Jackson OH right off U.S.35. I run stock...dad runs stock...Matt Potts runs SS & lives in Minford Oh. Along with his brother Jeff who runs stock. My Buddy Mike Galuk lived in Huntington but passed away in Nov. He was building an 80 Malibu ...we(dad & i ) had it started & broke the cam-in then Mike took it back to his house to finish....well I need to get it some time this spring & get it up & running so his wife can sell it. If ya have any questions my # is (740) 710-9698....I work 2nd shift so afternoons work.
