Pit Vehicle Question?

ok what's the deal if you have a scooter etc at a NHRA divisional race. Do I have to register it or something? Thanks for the info. Ed

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

Yes.

My understanding, there is a form you fill out at your very 1st event of the year at any NHRA track. There is a $10 fee for the sticker they will give you. It's good at any NHRA track for the 2011 season.

Doesn't matter if your scooter/atv/golf cart has proper insurance or not.

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

Thought that was for National only.?

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

The form is on our D5 web page...and states, "Not valid at NHRA National Events"

Didn't see anything on Div 3 web yet.
Sounds like just another way to get $10. from everyone.......and the enhancements just keep on coming.

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

This is nothing new. I've been doing this at least the last two years. I don't believe they are valid for national events. You can usually get them at the gate when you get your tech card for your first race of the year.

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

I know the National event tracks have a decal. It is good for year and is distributed with an entry. I have insurance on my scooter. In D4 last year they were trying to get money for a sticker. I asked if it would be good at any division race and was told that it was not. I declined to pay. I don't think it served any purpose other than a money grab.
I think that if the tracks want to limit the number of non racer traffic, a sticker once a year that is included in the entry would be appropriate. Heck, if the DDs got together and honored any division's sticker, I think I could take it, but when you race 2-3 divisions, it seems ridiculous to have to pay at each one.

It said that they do not require registration.

Am I reading #2 wrong The way I read it if any thing happens it is your fault weather caused by the owner or there operators. That part I would understand. But it sound like if some one from the raceway causes the incident it is still your responsibility

2. Hereby assumes full responsibility for and assumes the risk of bodily injury, death or property damage arising out
of or related to the use of said vehicle whether caused by the negligence of owner and/or their operators,
Raceway, other pit vehicle operators or otherwise.

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

I was looking at the BIR website and they show a $60 charge for a pit vehicle for the Nationals.

Even our local track Top End Dragways (Interstate Dragways new name) says you need the $10 sticker to use your pit vehicle there.

That might be the charge to rent the NHRA approved golf carts.I think McCormack rents them out.Not sure.

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

Here is what they have on their web site. Sure looks to me like all you get for the $60 is a ticket for a tag.

Motorized Vehicles:

All non-licensed motorized vehicles (any vehicle that doesn't have current state roadworthy licensing) will require an authorization sticker to operate on BIR grounds. A authorization ticket is available for sale at the front gate during events. Pricing is as follows:

2011 Season Ticket (excluding Nationals) - $10.00 per year

2011 Nationals only Ticket - $60.00

To purchase a non-licensed vehicle ticket, an adult (a person 18 years old or older) with a valid drivers license must sign a release waiver and take full responsibility for that vehicle and any and all injuries/damages it causes.

The ticket is then redeemed for an individually numbered sticker to be placed on the front of the vehicle. Tickets can be redeemed for stickers by stopping by the Security station or by contacting any of our security guards and presenting the vehicle for inspection. (See vehicle guidelines below)

Good question, I should call and ask so I know whether I would be ok bringing my power chair or if I need to have my manual chair. I assume it would be treated like a bicycle.

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

Just don't bring a bicycle to Epping for their Div'l. They won't allow them period. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense, must be another racer friendly enhancement.

Update: Bicycles are ok at Epping, was a misunderstanding. They have since corrected this.

Re: Pit Vehicle Question?

This may be off from what you want to know, but to rent a golf cart
at either the Mopars Nationals @ Columbus ($300 to rent for 3 days)
or Mopar @ The Strip @ Los Vegas ($200 to rent for 3 days).

Only reason I know these prices is I have a buddy who has trouble
walking any distance and those are the prices we paid at each track.

According to the D5 web site they should be good in D5 I don't know about other divisions

Beginning in the 2011 season all motorized pit vehicles in use at NHRA West Central Division Member Tracks will be required to register with the track & division office. The registration will be valid at all Division 5 Member Tracks for the entirety of the 2011 racing season at a cost of $10 per vehicle w/ no maximum number of registered vehicles to an individual. Racers will register with their local Member Track by submitting the Vehicle Registration Agreement at which time a season decal will be issued for each registered vehicle. Other NHRA divisions requiring registration will honor the Division 5 serialized sticker. Racers from out of division who display the serialized sticker from other NHRA Divisions will be honored as well in Division 5.

Ed, They told me the sticker was good at all division races. Tom
