Live from D2 Valdosta

We are in line moving slowly up to the gate and will be inside soon. With me here not having to do to much i should be able to give reports here and there. temp is 66, its thong weather already, Nitro in the sun! |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
I'm sure you will do very well.

Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
I'm trying to get there Right now I'm having trouble with my O2 sensor. Tried to change the tune and screwed it up big time. We are working on it at least it's making better noises, not just pop and bang.
|
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
well thursday is over just about 20 did the test and tune, didnt really catch any times, Rich South went 9.61-9.68 & 9.65 in GT/EA, We are slowing it down for tomorrow so he doesnt get the red flag job on the hp deal. Anyhow I seen Tom Trippy, Jim Wahn, the Bogles, Morrisons, Pat Ross , Mr Ed from Silver Dollar and others today while in the pits, I'm not on the Nitro/JEGS yellow cart as i have a loaner this weekend thats to Joe Cardamone. mines is home getting a starter generator fixed.
They have already announced everybody will get 2 runs tomorrow and looks like Sat will be eliminations. Will try to post in am to let you know what is going on here. |

Joe:
Is Rich still running the 305 carbureted combo? Thanks. Danny |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Joe,
Hope the weather stays nice for you. I'm trying to get there for Saturday morning, but it looks like with the compressed schedule, I'll only get one day of "spectating"! It's on the way home anyway:)! Good Luck! Lew |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
well its friday morning and it was the night of nightmares at the South coach as the coach batteries went "South" and we had no power at all. We are waiting on napa to bring 4 new batteries as it looks like we will have plenty of time to install them as its 750 am here and raining already. Danny, yes still has the 305 carb motor in it.
Will update later on this morning on weather situation. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
I want to thank Joe for doing the "Live From" down here in Valdosta. I just finished talking to Joe and will through my thoughts in from this race as well.
The schedule has not changed, we still have a 12:00 start. Starting out with the unleashed classes. The pits look full, it will be interesting to see how many cars are here. Weather right now, Temp 60 hum 70% bar 30.08 DA 400ft I will be back shortly with some pictures of the track. |

Here are the pictures of the track and a few cars, Trailers are still rolling in at steady pace. James Perrone is in the blue Nova, I have told him time again not to use the cell phone in his race car, he never listens.
I will have to switch camera's, the pictures not that good. I will be getting some in car video this weekend. I will try to set it up so you can view right from Class Racer. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
First qualifying run for stock and super stock are done. The track was very good, hard to tell who is fast. Lots of cars lifting after the 1000ft. We had a few sprinkles and down time, but we are back to racing.
This is my first time with the helmet cam, I never realized on moved around so much. I went 9.88 on this run. click on the link below http://classracer.com/classforum/video.php?do=viewdetails&videoid=123 |

Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Great video Ken; that helmet cam is the next best thing to being in the seat!
|
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Very cool.
It will be even better during eliminations when you are racing to the stripe. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Sorry guys, it is hard to follow. I hope to get better as I go, I am in the learning process. Byran, I have to have gloves and a neck collar now. The gloves I like, neck collar not so much. Scott, yup thats the MAD HAWIIAN !
The schedule for tomorrow is everyone gets one qualifying run and then right into eliminations. They will try to get it all done tomorrow, because of the pending weather. Here are two more in car's. The first is Norm Hall, and the next is me again, but the camera is on the roll bar now. http://classracer.com/classforum/vid...ls&videoid=124 http://classracer.com/classforum/vid...ls&videoid=125 |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
That was awesome Kenny.....thanks for making us even crazier up here in the cold.....
April cant get here soon enough...... Rock Haas |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
The schedule for tomorrow starts @ 9 with a round of qualifying or time trials for everyone, then into eliminations. We'll try to get in 3 rounds for everyone, but weather may curtail that. I have copies of the schedule here at the motorhome (Jimmy Stahl's S/C rig, next to Adcock's trailer) if anyone wants a copy.
I'm having a great time here at my first "Eastern" divisional....new cars and folks that I have not met before. If I can help with anything you might need Joe, just let me know. Rick |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Kenny,
How many miles to Valdosta was it for you? And what are you figuring to Gainsville. |

Johnny,
It was 940 to Valdosta and it is another 120 to gainesville. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Ken,
Where are you pitted? There are a WHOLE LOT of Motorhomes in the pits! The guards aren't letting anyone without a wristband in the back gate, so I'm camping in the field. See you in the morning! Lew |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Kenny,
Take those 'girlie bars' off and let that car go hunt !!! |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
YO KENNY Those are some great videos, makes me want to go fire up my own cars. I haven't talked to you or your brother in years. Good luck this weekend.
|
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Lew , Kenny is almost at score boards and I'm just down from him with Rich South in his rig on other side of road.
Today was interesting like i side on other thread i seen a lot of drivers in the "witness protection program", lol between the ladder game chasers, the hp hackers and the rest of the cars running SS & Stock, the only way you knew if someone made a full run was to watch the mph like i do most of the time and just laugh at some that just barley go over 100 mph. Everybody gets one hit tomorrow and we go for it, i still would love to do a race where nobody see's a qualifying sheet till its all over and see how things would come out on the ladder, lol. |

Games and more games......Its no wonder that the fans go for a hot dog when the class cars run these days. The fans probably would rather watch "engines on a stick" or S/G than this mess. You guys are your own worst enemy with this and you wonder why no one in NHRA cares and you cant get spectators to fill the stands. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
well its saturday morning and its 57 and overcast and it looks windy.
the game plan is everybody gets one more Q round and we go for it. I did see one thing that was interesting yesterday, when T/D & T/S got ready for there Q run i seen a lot of racers in the bleachers watching. I was one of them to cause I have a lot of customers in Top classes myself. Well we will see how much of this we will get through today. |

Temp 65 humid 67% bar 29.92 DA 1038 Its cloudy Like Joe said, but the wind is dying down. I will try to get some more pictures, I have been a little busy with video editing, but I will get pictures. Come guys, could we stay on topic and talk about having a good time at the races. Its a live from, not a what's wrong from. Be back, they just called stock. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta

Thanks Terry, believe me I understand the frustration.
Here is a video of James Perrone in his G/SA Nova. http://classracer.com/classforum/vid...ls&videoid=126 A few pictures of the staging lanes. I was kind of rushed, but I will go around the pits and get more now that things have settle down. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Ken,
Great pics and videos...got to be a market for these somewhere. Very professional. |
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
NIce video of James Nova. Runs great for a small block....lol. It looked like he ran it all the way thru. The camera/vido deal gets the blood pumping. Darn wished I was there.
|
Re: Live from D2 Valdosta
Qualifying is over and we are ready for round one of all eliminations. The ladders are posted on drag race central and the sun has came out, nice weather for a bit.
