what to use to clean trailer

hey guys whats the best product to clean and maintain a .050 wall trailer, I read on here sometime back a post giving discriptions of the correct products to use and not to use some stuff, may even damage the finish. I have had problems in the past by steaking the polished stuff in the process of trying to clean the exterior and also the extruded alum floors seem to discolor real easy what should be used on them.

just bought a used ATC 32' and it needs a good overall cleanup just dont want mess up more than i fix.

thanks in advance for your help

believe it or not ,nothing gets your whites whiter than 'sunlight' powdered laundry soap. We use it as a car wash soap at the body shop and it does a wonderful job on white paint jobs on fleet trucks which are used in the fields. it does not damage the finish as long as proper washing techniques are used.

Jax Wax citrus cleaner. It's the best thing I've ever seen for making a trailer look like new.

Don't use any products using butyl esters such as Spray9 or Greased Lightning . They will streak and discolor the panels.
Strong laundry detergent and elbow grease work best.
Dions' correct ,It really works well for body work, strips wax and silicone right off!
Dave Riberio had a product he was selling , RV5000 ? I think.
That worked really well.

Dave had RV455. It did work pretty good too.

Stay away from "Black Streak Removers". They do a heckuva job of taking away black streaks, but they leave "White Streaks" if you're not careful.

Scotchbrite works well on the aluminum floor...all you need is a case of that, a sanding block, and a free weekend. After that initial scrub, there are aluminum waxes that make it easier to restore the shine - make sure you wipe up any water or fluid that might hit the floor and it'll last for a while.

Ditto on Simple Green do it in the shade and start at the top and work your way down---Get it at Wal mart for about $8 a gallon--its cheap and effective & it works well

Use RV455 to remove tough black streaks and grime. I was sceptical until i used it and It removed black streaks from a trailer that was sitting and not washed for 6 years by just spraying on and wiping off. It strips off the black streaks as well as any wax, so you must wax it right after cleaning.

I use this product, and it works very well on "streaks". Be aware.... It is pretty aggressive. Don't use it in the sun (surface should be relatively cool), and rinse with clear water before it dries......

Re: what to use to clean trailer

Yes. The bulk LA Totally Awesome has a mixture chart on the bottle. I use it also. Stop over to the hardware store and buy a house siding scrub brush that you can screw onto the end of your push broom handle, and tear it up.
I have had the same success with Simple Green.

Essentially, it is a degreaser. So, I've actually used Dawn Dishsoap, also.

Awesome Orange in the orange spray bottle is also sold at the Dollar store. It is a smaller, diluted version of the bulk product for the same price. Buy it in bulk.

X2 on that for black streak removers. They will take off the black streaks, but wait to you see what it does to your shiny aluminum trim, it spots and tarnishes them, and I followed the directions. Learned my lesson the hard way.

Re: what to use to clean trailer

After washing our travel trailer we use Mequiars #49 as required to remove any heavy oyxidation or Meguiars # 50 with a light de- oxydizer and polish, one step(blue containers). These are both marine products and we buy them by the gallon. We just did the trailer today. We have tried other mequiars products as well as other brands and this is what my wife has cone back to.
