70 Duster, Brake & Spindle???

we are finishing our 70 Duster! the car was originaly a Kelsey Hayes disc. brake car, we bought Strange front brakes, but there not right for our spindle, and they say they dont have one for that spindle, has anyone used this spindle with aftermarket brakes? Strange,Wildwood, Aerospace. or do i need to change the spindle.

From my experiance ,you must use the drum brake spindle with Strange and Wilwood.
I dont know if anyone else makes one for the disc spindle.

Jim,
Depending on the brakes you bought you will either need to use a 10" b body spindle or a 9" a body spindle. The only one that will make the brakes for your configuration will be lamb.

Jim, what Paul wrote ... on my Barracuda I used 9" drum brake spindles from an A body. Should not be too hard to find .. NAPA still has upper and lower ball joints for them ..

FWIW, I have the Strange set-up on my car and use the original '73 disc brake spindle. I do know for sure that they are different from the earlier disc brake spindles.

Wilwood has a kit for the 10" drum spindles. That's what I put on the front of my '71 Demon.

Re: 70 Duster, Brake & Spindle???

Hey Jim,
On Frank's Barracuda he sent the spindles to Aerospace and they made the brakes to fit his spindles. I should have a set of drum spindles out in the barn if you need them.

Cheers,Phillip

On my 70 Swinger I used Aerospace brakes and the KH spindles. On the Demon used 10" drum spindles and Aerospace brakes. They make a kit also for the 73 up spindles.

Re: 70 Duster, Brake & Spindle???

Yep on the Barracuda i have Aerospace and they work great, this is my sons car we chose to use Strange, just didn't know the KH spindles were a issue, 9" spindle seams to be the comon one to use at this point, Phil are your spindles already out of the car.
