Thanks Jeff!

Now I won't have to run Jeff heads up! According to the new changes in the AHFS I am pretty sure that when he ran -1.304 (10.846) it will give the 2010 360 5.25% immediately, making the 284hp rating now 299hp. At a shipping weight of 3200 lbs. that would make the Challenger a natural F car. In order to run F/SA it would now have to weigh 3309 lbs. Thanks Jeff! Jim

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Jim, I think Jeff and I use the same personal trainer. 3309 likely won't be that difficult. LOL

No, I don't think so considering it had to weight 3436 @ H weight. Jim;)

How much does Helm's weigh? lol

Ed Wright 03-19-2011 03:23 PM

Less than Jeff or myself. :-)

Re: Thanks Jeff!

I hate to pop your bubble but Jeff was light on that run, so the run did not count.

Mike Fuller 03-19-2011 04:11 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Why did the run show up on the sheet if he was light?

Mark Callanan 03-19-2011 05:52 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Is this true

Jim Wahl 03-19-2011 05:58 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

It is NOT true. The run was legal and his weight was good. He still stands as #1 Qualifier and he has the bye run first round. Why would you start crap like that? Jeff would not play that game. Jim

So I guess this means H is back to the regular hitters then lol.

Greg Hill 03-19-2011 09:38 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

That thing is still about 50 hp light.

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Think about this! He took a total of .96 CIC in the CIC race! The CIC hit was -.7! What on earth would make anyone think this combo is underfactored????

Pistol Pete 03-20-2011 07:54 AM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Jeff's car ran 10.57 & a 10.48 during the cic race.

On a 12.15 index..... It's only 1.67 under.

This car can run with a lot of the C cars out there today.
And they started out by putting this car in H ???????
That's 5 classes higher then what it could run, which should be C/SA...

When the Fuel Inj. cars first came out, were they that much faster than the carb
cars in the same class ???? Your talking at least 5-6 tenths faster on these
DP cars.

I guess sooner or later the factor of these cars will be justified...

Jim, Bob Shaw was more than 2 seconds under his 14.85 Index. Tom

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Yes BUT, Bob has done it the hard way. Find an odd combo and make it work, he was not handed any soft hp. Why do you think he is the only one with that combo ? Could it be no one would take a chance on building one ?? Ya think ?

I know but my personal agenda isn't concerned with Bob. He doesn't run the same class I do! Besides when the Caddy's HP is brought into line he will just find another combo to beat us up with! Jim

*note* for those who didn't pick it up, there was a certain amount of sarcasm involved in this post as we all know I have no personal agendas!*

Are you saying that when a GM product is grossly underated it's different?

Jim
Are you sure your combo isnt a little soft?
Your car is an aspen?
Kind of a one of a kind.
I havent seen many of them .
Hhmmmmm?

Bob Pagano 03-20-2011 04:17 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

No John, Just that Bob takes his time and picks a combo out of the guide and makes it work. Dont matter what brand, there are still combos that are odd but no one will take the chance to try them. Ralph Truppi did it back in the day with alot of odd picks folks thought would not run the number.

What the hell brought that on? My car? Soft? I don't think so! It's rated more than any other combo in the class. Better do your homework. There are plenty of Chevies out there that can clean my clock heads up. Oh and it's a Volare and there are many of them out there. Jim

I with you Jim, at least he is out of H Not that I think I would have run into him. I sure couldn't out run him, unless I put a blower on,... yea thats it, I am putting a blower on....LOL

Here James, this guy right here can clean my clock any time he wants! Do I think Gary's car is underrated? Nope! Jim

Blower huh? Yeah, sounds like a MoPar factory option to me.

Lets be real who ever built your car Looked at the book and built it cause it was a soft combo. Now in my opinion your car is the worlds fastest Volora in H/Sa..
I dont recall as a kid as a Volora being anything but a taxi or a cop car..Easy no offense intended..Also I dont believe you are rated at 280 like me..So congrats on Jeff leaving H/sa ..I will just go where he aint instead of crying. You know there is class in Charlette are you going?Im there already.

aspen7709 03-20-2011 08:09 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

James I run the same combo in an aspen. We are not rated @ 280 we are rated @ 284! That is the lowest 360 ci rating in a F-body Mopar. they go up to 309! from a factory rate of 160. Then they rate that magnum 360 with the hi rise aluminum intake, roller cam, 1000 cfm t-body, roller rocker, flat top piston, magnum large port rt head motor the same 284? YEAH RIGHT!!!! Hell your nova combo is WAY softer than we are plus there are a lot better superceded parts plus more R&D than on our combo. Lets face it its not like no one is building small block chevys with a 3 spd auto..the most common combo in drag racing!) Plus you can actually get good chassis parts like shocks & springs and other parts.. when was the last time you tried finding trick front shocks for a f-body mopar.I know we picked our poison but no one else should be favored cause they spent big bucks on a factory ringer!

James, you are right about one thing. My 360 is not rated at 280 like yours. It's rated at 289. I told you to do your homework before you posted that my combo was "soft". If mine is "soft" at 289 what does that make yours at 280? I'm not crying but it sound like you are.
BTW Are you calling me out? Jim

aspen7709, I have been trying to get John Calvert to make some front shocks for us for two years now! maybe by this summer.

.

aspen7709 03-21-2011 12:44 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Yeah Jim,I know about the Calvert shocks. The prototype set is on Angelo Phillips' m/sa volare' Right now as we are testing them for John. But we cant call up Summit and order QA1 stocker shocks or moroso trick springs like he can.Hell a good set of torsion bushings cost us $400.00. He can get parts @ 7/11 minimarts his stuff is so common. What year are you claiming? because 76/77 can run @ 284 with the small cam combo.

Jeff Teuton 03-21-2011 01:04 PM

Re: Thanks Jeff!

Thanks for all the concern. I didn't want to be in H this year, but the weight rule kept me there. We all know it's a little soft, but if you think it is that easy, come on in. I have one original 360 DP left and it is for sale. If my numbers are right, I stay at the same weight at the very top of F and not upset the car. I can run 10.90 all day and not get anyone mad. Now for all you record keepers, on the final in the CIC race, I lost 7 in 60' and ran 10.53. That translates to about 10.39 to 41. I was borderline light and had little oil in the car, all in on everything. There weren't no more.

An announcer at Norwalk one year sez, "Wow, a Volare! You don't see many of those!" with one going down the track, while Scott Macy and I standing next ours and one other one. "Yep don't see ANY of those!" LOL

Hey Jim, mine's rated at 325! :p

x3 on the Calvert shocks... ready to order as soon as they're available, as are many other people! Although the car seems to work ok with the CARQUEST heavy duty shocks on the front...

Crate motor's sold. Building an engine for Super Stock GT. So I was wrong on one point... new engine is factored at 275.
