No Problem Raceway Sold

Just wanted to give ya'll a heads-up. Linda & I are announcing that we have agreed to sell a majority interest in NPR to a New Orleans group of racers. We will become minority owners, which will give us a chance to take a break from the day-to-day operations of the track.

Relax. We will still be here to run the NHRA events at NPR (somebody has to park the early-bird rigs on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday :) ), but we need a break from the daily grind we’ve been under for the past 10 years. It won’t be much of a break for the next few months with the D-4 Lucas Oil race and a Pass Time production in May, and the NHRA Unleashed race in June. We will still live in our house at the track entrance when we are here, so we really won’t be going away.

Since our rear-end auto accident in May of last year, both of us are suffering from back and neck injuries. My neurologist encouraged me to avoid any chance of another concussion, so I sold my stocker real cheap to a friend, and gave my super-stocker to a couple of local bracket racers to play with. I had them take it home to get it out of my race shop, because I kept hearing it call my name, tempting me to take her down the track one more time.

Who knows? Without us having to be here for payroll, paying the bills, and running the office, you just might see us at several of the divisional and national events. Our plans are to fly our plane across the country visiting other racetracks, offering the owners our perspective on how to improve their facilities and operations to become more successful. Guess we will consider ourselves as “consultants”?

If we can be of help to any of ya’ll, just give me a call on my cell at (985) 665-7145, or e-mail me at patjoffrion@hotmail.com.

C-Ya down the road.

Pat, I know this has been a while coming and I am happy for you both. Make sure the new owners realize that your never ending dedication to the racers is why the place is such a success. I hope they carry that on.

I'll be down this weekend to drink a few beers with you, and thanks for the deal on the stocker ;) its gonna be a great little race car once i get it a little more hp

Pat, congratulations. I hope your health improves, and I hope you enjoy the fruits of your labors. If the new owners abide by your sage wisdom, they'll succeed beyond what they ever thought possible.

I guess we all knew this was coming. Lord knows you certainly deserve a break as you have worked so hard to make NPR one of the premier and fun tracks in this country or anywhere else! You two have fun and don't go too far! We still need people like you in this sport. Jim

Pat, I think I know where you're coming from since a motorcycle wreck in 03 changed my life forever. As much as I hate to see you leave the "funnest" track in the country I I think you and Linda are doing the right thing.

At first I was really upset to lose your talents, but then it dawned on me that now you might have a chance to show the other 95% of track operators how a facility OUGHT to be run.

Best wishes and never forget to have fun.

Pat, you deserve the break that you need. Thank you for all the great times I had when I had the opportunity to attend. I wish that I could have gone this year but economics had a great deal to do with it. I know that you will be a tremendous asset to other track operators if they follow only a part of your strategies in making a racer friendly experience.
And thank you to all the wonderful people that I have met at the Cajun Sportsnationals, you guys are the best. Good luck Pat and Linda, thanks again.

Congratulations, Pat. You have produced a great place to race and I'm sure it will continue to be a great facility. Dorothy and I were sorry we weren't able to make it out this year, but hope y'all will show up at Silver Dollar soon. We are in our eighteenth season and know that you will enjoy getting back to being free to attend more out-of-town events. We look forward to doing that, too.

retire ? im betting your not the retiring type...you'll find a new interesting endeavour...

hey here is an idea :

why dont you travel around the country this summer and line up the local s/ss associations and tracks so that next year you can form a sportsman only national association...that way you can share your expertise, help tracks profit and give us a new venue to race in ????

or you could just retire > best of luck and thanks for THE RACE !

Its good to see things work out, for you and Linda. I just hope the new owners will make 1/2 the attempt to make every racer and crew feel good about going there, like you have ! Wont be right not to see you "scootin" around there !

Kenny,

Maybe you missed my first post on this subject. Linda & I WILL be there for all of the NHRA and SPEED-TV events. My Honda Rebel has to keep rolling. I put 141 miles on it last week, and never left the track. :)

I'll be training one of the new owners on how to park racers next to thier friends, and how to make room for them to hold a buddy's spot.

I think I can get used to not having to work every week. Four events a year will stop the rust from building up on my brain.

Pat and Linda,

I had the opportunity to attend your race several moons ago and would like to express a sincere thank you. I have grown up in the sport and had to depart due to family and life reasons. The race you put on at Belle Rose is as close to what all the stories and he said she saids as they say the old days was. A lot of my generation wish we could have been a part of. I hope at some point my family and I can come back and your race would be the first on my list. Anybody who has never attended could never understand. Thank you for the memories and please keep doing what you do. If you attend no other NHRA enhancements please do this one time!!!!

Thank you!!!
