New HP effective today.

This should make some of the haters happy. LOL

3/22/2011

As the result of runs under the Automatic Horsepower Factoring System (AHFS) 1.20-second under policy at the JEGS.COM Cajun SportsNationals, the following changes have been made.

The horsepower rating for 09-10 Dodge Challenger Drag Pak, entries with the 360 cubic inch engine and a factory rating of 275 currently rated at 284, has been increased by fifteen horsepower, to 299 horsepower; for Stock Eliminator.

NHRA's 2011 Automatic Horsepower Factoring System outlines that any run of 1.20-second or more under the index will receive an immediate index decrease or horsepower increase. These changes are effective March 22, 2011.

Still isn't even close to enough
Wasn't one run 10.48? at 121?
The car is a C car
So now the poor guys that work their cars to death in F get to have a soft combo in the other lane that can run what 10.60s -.70s?
NHRA again you screwed up yes I know you don't care but you screwed up big time

Ed & Mark ,

As I have always said , becareful what you wish for ??? Who's mad Now .......? Mark , you are dead on ...

Ed Wright 03-22-2011 08:31 PM

Re: New HP effective today.

Dave, I didn't wish for anything. Any class that car ones in for a while is going to be a thorn in somebody's side. It still needs some hp.
I have to race at least one in SS until they get factored correctly, and I'm going to go all I can to help them get there.

I still really don't think anybody "hates" these cars. I think all of them are cool! And so are most of the guys who run them. I just would like the cars better if they had a more realistic HP ratings on them! Jim

Oh and Jeff, I think you can about a hun out of her to run F.

I feel your pain. It ran 10.48 on one run and 125mph on another. One stout piece for sure! This is exactly what the guys in H have been putting up with for two years. I predict 10.28@127 in F.
The Mustangs are next! Jim

Re: New HP effective today.

Like I posted somewhere, come on in. The waters fine. I got a few to sell. It's easy. Just ask anyone with one. You know, Bob Dennis told me last year he was so glad we came along so people quit beating on his combinations. Another year or two, the new stuff will outnumber the old. There is already talk about a Hemi Shoot Out using the 5.7,6.1 and 6.4. If racers want us out, the ask NHRA to establish a 6.0, 6.5, and 7.0 stock class and a 5.5 SS class so we can move up. I know Ford and Mopar are in favor of this and all it needs is a little push from the racers. See. Easy deal. There is no telling what Ford has in the future, and Mopar has some more coming.

Did not everyone bitch there needed to be some FX classes for a whole year and nhra did nothing.

Sure they DID ! They heard all the input from the SRAC about the new classes wanted by the racers.
NHRA ignored the idea and told the SRAC S/SS will now run on a CIC system and the SRAC came back with the only option thus the new AHFS ! Where ya been ? lol

"If racers want us out, the ask NHRA to establish a 6.0, 6.5, and 7.0 stock class"

I was responding to Jeff's quote above, I know what happened.

If more of you came it would change just like NHRA does. We don't change hp unless someone runs faster in IHRA not because they do in NHRA.... We changed hp on three combos from Baton Rouge . I would not say we are exactly behind ( FUNNY )........I guess you want IHRA to drop 3 tenths off all the indexes too ?All you have to do is go to IHRA and run fast and it will change....

Re: New HP effective today.

Hey Jeff how about instead you use your pull with Mopar and NHRA to have them put the real cars in the guide at there factory rated HP the way stock was meant to work. Instead of these under factored factory race cars.

Mr. Teuton has worked hard on this combo and deserves the rewards of his work. he has managed to slow a 9sec. car down to the 10.4? range so now he can play with the F-auto guys then he can step it up a little and play with the C-automatics before ending up in A or B 5 or 10 years down the road!!!

Seeing how his 10.48 is .42 under the current F/SA record I think it will be just fine in F/SA

At least give Jeff some credit for running hard enough to get HP. When I ran Houston a few weeks ago I watched alot of 1000' racing in stock.

Danny. The racers who feel that way can keep their big EGO's out of IHRA! They don't know what they are missing! And, WE don't miss them either!!

I particularly liked the length of his stay in "G" .

Jeff, wish I could join the DP crowd myself but the ole retirement income has it's limit. If I was shopping though Southland would be my first stop.

Here's one person who also cares what class the car fit's into, whether it's running in the IHRA or NHRA! It seems that everyone knows how under-factored this combination is, and is just waiting for somebody else to do something about it. All anyone is asking for is a level playing field NOW, not in a year or two!

I, personally, also have a great deal of respect for Danny's opinion, and don't see any reason to respond in a derogatory manner. We can all agree to disagree on this subject, but let's remember to keep it fair.

it is a shame that farmer isnt still in charge... there would be plenty of HP to go around today...in fact he might have just filled the trunks up at the scales saturday.

and the fastest outfoxed the AHFS and didnt get a hit (i should have gone a bit faster huh ? )

Careful Danny, the self-appointed "voice of Classracer.com" may get you banned!

Oh, ok, he's not and he can't! We can all breath easier now. Keep us posted. ;)

RJ, here is the deal. The top weight for E is 3310, the botton is 150 less. The top weight for F is about 3460. I weigh about 3450+/- now. I have lost 30 lbs myself. I have about 50 on the chassis, and about 60 or so in the box. The math says I can't get there. I would rather be in E except I got the old car pretty well balanced right now. I don't see me losing another 30 to help either. Diet Beer maybe? Any ideas? I thought you liked me.
