who is the fastest
 

Just wondering who has the fastest MPH in super gas, super comp and super street? I run division 3 super gas and I believe I have the fastest MPH for the cubic inch I run. I go 143 @ 9.90 with a 352 cube. Just wondering who has the Biggest MPH, so I can l look for you in the mirror.

Ernie kendall in div 1 goes @ 217 in super comp he is the fastest i have seen in person

Tom Goldman knows the name of the guy from the mid west who can go 189 mph in S/G.If he reads this I'm sure he'll post it.

I remember a few years ago there was a cobalt that was going pretty fast, but I think he moved up to top sportsman. I think his name was Don Peden or something close to that. Last year I ran the champ (Tatum) at Bowling Green and he went 169.2.

Peden was in the hi 180's a few years back.
Lots of hi 160's cars out there. D3's speed king might be our friend Colorful Racer, he's been in the low to mid 170's since he added a "few " cubic inches!
There are quite a few cars that are capable of 170 in SG, if they ever dialed the car for a .90 and ran it thru the lights!

Jeff Jackson used to go go lo 160s in S/St til he changed the stop setup.

GaryGoFast has been known to go over 150 in S/ST and still flip me the bird as he drove by me.

Tom,, I added more than a few how about from a 421 Small Block to a 582 APD big block and loving it :) --- I've run 9.90's @ 174 at norwalk in good air and good track ,,,but I really don't think I'm the fastest either way I will gladly give up some of the MPH for some win lites and a good year like you had !!!

Have seen Donnie Pedan at Houston run a 9.903 @ 192 mph, also have seen Michael Manners in Super Comp (with a blown alcohol dragster with a stop) go 8.91 @ 223 mph

Forgot to add Jeff Jackson out I think in Division 7 he has a nice fastback mustang with a BBF he sometimes runs S/G but also mostly runs SST. His car runs deep in the 7's and he has run 10.90 @ close to 170 before.

Put a throttle stop on my Camaro and tried to run SST but it is setup for nitrous, have one 10.91 at 164 mph, but the car was just to inconsistent. Runs 8.60's on motor at 3200 lbs, wrong cam and converter to be consistent.

Alan Claunch done here in Div 4 runs his car in SG and he activates his throttle stop on the topend runs 9.90 anywhere from 108-112 mph..LOL oh and he has won some races doing this!

Well, Eddie I hope I can ask you this question, so if I have to run you I will be not intimidated as much, by your finish line MPH. I will expect you to come whizzing by at the finish, but are you a BS'er... Now dont get me wrong but bs'er stands for brake stomper. Just want to know, if you do this sort of thing? If you don't want to answer for strategy, that is fine, but I am thinking about being a BS'er myself. Never have, but thinking about it.

Thats us in D-1...been doing it for around 10 years now! 112 to 121mph depending on the air and set-up. Some people thinks it silly and others hate it....just ask Joe Eckel as he calls us the "Most feared Super Gas Car in D-1" and hates running us.

Just my opinion I like the idea of reversing when the TS comes on, it is very difficult for the guy chasing you down to get slowed down enough and for him to judge the finish line.

Unfornately last year someone crashed either in Dallas or OK against Claunch.

Again just my opinion and you guys up in D1 figured it out along time ago...LOL

I hear they dont give out Wally's for being the fastest in the class of course no one told me til it was too late:)

FWIW I can go 160+ but the car is very hard to dial and not consistent at all. I am now mid 150's go 8.0 at sea level at 2900ish. Went 152-3 in Vegas this weekend in TT's:)

We started out at 170-172 with the vette. After changing the throttle stop around to be more consistent we are closer to 168-170.

What about Big Dog Domingues? He runs 150+ in Super Street in Division 5. He even got his name in Bob Frey's "Bob Tales" column in the last ND.

I know they don't give out Wally's to the fastest, but Steve has figured out how to run Super Street at a high MPH consistently. Just look at the Jeg's All-Star event from last year.

Hey Maverick ,,,, No I'm not a BS'r as you defined BS and I don't have a secret strategy , I've hit the wall a couple of times (Once at Norwalk , hit the brakes hard and spun around , and once at National trails , Throttle stuck , got on brakes hard and before I knew it I was on two wheels and headed for the wall --- Lesson learned "I should have just pulled the chute " How many of us Super Class racers pull the chute , just to stay in practice ? --- Anyway I won't be on brakes but I will lift , and wop , wop you except for CBS , I usally run him honest ,,,,UMMMM maybe thats why He is the man in Div. 3 --- Like most folks have found out , I think MPH past 170 is not consistent enough on some of the tracks we run on (just my opinion )

Eddie great point, expecially where you faster guys come off the stop sometimes your in "no man land" where track prep could be marginal. Donnie Pedan several times would haze his tires when he came off his stop. 1 pass he only ran 181 mph the next 1 passes he hooked up he the TS opened and ran 191 on one pass and 192 on another, but consistency becomes marginal at best.

I personally have seen Mike Manners in a BLOWN Blue corvette Pro Mod car using the starting line enhancer as a stop go 9.91 @ 214mph at Norwalk Nationals in 2007
