Muscle Motor Week 2011!!!
 

I may not own a car with an engine/hp set-up of such, but I still wish to celebrate the week...to wit:

4/25 or 425hp If my memory is correct, this is the factored hp for both a 426 hemi, one of the famed 409's, and a 427 Chevy, which with regards to the hemi, brings me to;

4/26 Need I say more???

4/27 You 69 Camaro racers with that engine and you Ford SOHC engine runners should love this day!

4/28 Isn't this "The Original Cobra Jet" Ford?

4/29 Can we say, "The Boss"!!!

4/30 The Hp of the "Mystery Motor" Z11 Chevy.

Furthermore, in all due fairness to the month of April, this month graced us with some other noteworthy dates for engines:

4/01 AMC had a dog in this fight too.

4/09 "She's Real Fine, My 409"!!!

4/21 The great "Poncho" Pontiac.

Unfortunately this month isn't 55 days long or else we'd be able to honor other luminaries such as the 454 Chevy, and the 455 Buick-Oldsmobile-Pontiac monster motor too. Did I miss any? I often think of this at this time of year, because I'm a gear-head (and Damn Proud Of It)!!! I may not race one of them (due to lack of funds for such), but I can still appreciate them, so kudos to you who can!!!

Um, you can't do a 440 on a calender date... but you can do the Mopar 413, Chevy 402, Olds 403 & 425, Caddy 425 & 429, I'm sure there are others but I'm too lazy to go further. Guess some would apply to motor month, not so much motor week.

Yeah I guess so.But I did get the Merc 410.A lot of people don't remember them.Pontiac 428 also.I should have known the 403,that's my birthday.I swapped a 403 from a 350 olds in my Pontiac Paresianne S/W tow vehicle.Pulled nice but the gas milage,not fun.

My wedding anniversary = 3/18
My Dad's wedding anniversary = 4/26

Nope, we've never forgotten an anniversary! lol!

Yesterday I was about to give my Ford buddy grief about Max Wedge/Hemi day when I realized for the first time that my son's birthday is 3/02.....yuck!

Buick had a 400(actually a 401)and a 425 nailhead.
They also had 400 and a 430.

Caddy had a 429.

The late LS7 (LS based not bigblock) is 427 inches(427.8).

Sorry Ed, but since there's only 30 days in April, the great 440 Mopar mill faces the same fate as the 454 and the 455 (not enough days in the month to be included in this). However, since those engines are truly Muscle Motors, they would get my vote...if only the month of April could be extended 25 days longer.....but then March would have to be extended as well, so it could include such great engines as the 340 Mopar, 350 Chevy & B.O.P. 350, the 383 Mopar, the 390 Ford, and the 396 Chevy...to bad there's no 4/00 date, or even the 400 would have a place...life just isn't always fair, but this is still is a great week, and one I'll remember always for it's ironic significance to our sport! :)

They give great credibility to the month of March, along with the 3/02 Ford, the 3/18 Mopar, and the 3/31 Oldsmobile.

My triplet girls were born on 3/27. They were little "high revers" but then on 4/27, when they were one month old, they were less peaky, more powerful! ;)

As the Keyshawn Johnson of Espn Monday Night Football would say...Danny, C'MON MAN! You have one of the baddest birthdays of anyone (at least you said it is/was a cool month) :) ...I wish I could afford to race a 426 Hemi (whether in a '68 Dart, a '65-'66 Coronet, or a '63-'66 Plymouth Savoy/Belvedere, because I certainly would! Besides, I'm a bit jealous of you and others who have b'days on days that match some of the greatest American engines of our current/recent history, because my b'day is 5/24, and I'm certain there's no engine of 524 c.i. that was a production motor... I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think so. :(

Gary,,,I've got to be honest with you. Although my birthday is 4/26,,I've always been a Chevy guy,,,the exception being the Hemi in my 1500 Ram pickup that hauls my "68 Chevy II to the races. Over the years there were times I wished I was born a day later,,but Hey,,, you can't fight Mother nature,,,I'll take it!

I hear you Danny, and you could've been born a day earlier as well...after all, I believe the baddest of the 409's was also rated at 425hp (as was the baddest of the 396's (per Wikipedia)! Anyway, today ends a powerful month with homage to the Z11 Mystery motor rated @ 430hp...thus Chevrolet gets to represent the adios date for MUSCLE MOTOR MONTH!!!

Take heart Danny, I just found out something for you to feel great about being a Chevy guy born on 4/26...the bhp of the modern day LS3, 376c.i. (6.2L) V8 is guess what 426! So now you can feel great about being born on 426...I sure would!!!
