Looks like that combo is now a natural A car if I am reading it right 8.02 weight break. Did not notice that Les went -1.360 under that fast in his first round bye run was only paying attention to my own runs.

"NHRA's 2011 Automatic Horsepower Factoring System outlines that any run of 1.20-second or more under the index will receive an immediate index decrease or horsepower increase. These changes are effective May 3, 2011."

Where are they going with their usual NHRA vague writing? Is this something new or are they just reinforcing that ANY run of 1.20 or more meaning factored as well as non factored tracks?

Pup,

A lot of people complained about going fast at altitude.......so now they have gotten their wish...If a car goes fast at altitude because of a weather front with real good air it gets hit for both the 1.20 sudden death or the AHFS average twice a year....ALL National & LODRS events count....Like I said before "be careful what you wish for"...

Bob

Pup & Mulry,
You're talking NHRA but this is an IHRA crate motor combo only. 350/300/305.
Took 5 off in Feb. but now it earned it back.

Actually every one but Michael is talking abot the 392 drag pack motor in NHRA.

Not real sure what the IHRA crate motor had to do with this at all.

The horsepower should go back to 375 very soon, stayed tuned for the results.

Clearly, at the very least, a "West Coast" gopher.

I think there must have been two gophers

I heard he ran more than 1.40 under on a run that was DQ'd earlier in the event

Just a rumor I guess

There is that rule which disallows a freak-o-run or something like that

It was a nutria imported from the swamp. The Swamp People caught it. Trust me. For those not blessed with this important knowledge, a nutria is an Argentine Beaver imported to this country in the 30's. About a 20-30 lb rodent. Open season, shootem, cut the tail off and the state pays $5 per. They can eat the marsh. And I know they sightsee in Boise. I need something else to do.

Larry, sorry to preempt what I anticipated to be an eminent comment but it's a slow day and the temptation was overpowering.

Jeff, does the Great State of Louisiana outfit each of those little buggers with a tiny "bow-tie" for their sightseeing excursions out west? If so, that could shed light on a wide range of heretofore unexplained phenomena. Perhaps even things such as UFO sightings that were recently reported around Glendora?

It seems that more than a few of us need something else to do.

Hell, there's an "app" for about everything these days. About all we need now is for someone to create an "app" to dial the car and cut a light!

Wait a minute! I think we might be on to something here?

Thanks Toby, I am still a little out of the loop on this stuff after a
40 yrs absence. I had runs averaging .945 under at Charlotte, so I guess that would trigger a review if nothing changed and there were no other comparison runs with similar engine/platform-body combo. But since the average isn't greater than the first range (1.000-1.099) I don't guess I would get adjusted?

Maybe NHRA can get an App to help them Factor the HP on these cars in the first place.

They sure can't handle it without help. :)

P.S. What is the gophergate saga about? Someone have spy footage of a gopher running in front of the finish line beams?

Mark,

Sure am. I loved that car. had great partners. Finally getting back to my roots after 40 years. Picked the hardest car on the planet to drive, plus I'm an old fart now, reaction times not what they used to be. But I sure am having fun! Hope to beat somebody soon haha!

I thought so . Joe Santangelo and I built the "Bad Jose" SS/J record holder hardtop car at that time .
Great combo back then.

I happened to be on the "crew " of that car you have now, when it was here in Phoenix.

I guess you know Weinle pretty good too? I don't admit that to just anybody LOL
