Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
We`ve had that at Bandimere since about 2003. Now we`re required to have liability insurance on motorized pit vehicles for all events, not just the Mile High Nationals.

Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
Its for real, I was there told them I would walk.

Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
Is this just a Division Five deal?
|
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
Div. director's deal not nhra I understand
|
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
Is this for Division races Carl? I think they are already doing something for National events. What a crock!
|
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
As I understand it is for all Div 5 tracks. The website for Top end dragway (formerly Interstate Dragway) says you must have it there and at all div 5 tracks.

Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
just div.races.

Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
This is what is posted at the track site.
Pit Vehicle Registration: As of Feb 2011, all pit vehicles at Division 5 and Division 4 race tracks will be required to register at time of entry. Registration will cost $10, competitors will fill out an registration form with vehicle information, owner info, as well as authorized personnel who will be operating the vehicle. This pass will be valid and honored at any Division 5 and 4 track and will be a once per year fee/registration. |

These track owners need to go to Norwalk div. race. The spectators, campers bring in golf carts ,cars, scooters, 4runners etc. I guess Bader would rather have spectators and happy racers than trying to get every last dollar from racers. Having insurance on your pit vehichle should be all that is required.

Seriously, people will piss and moan about anything. We're talking about a $10/year charge... |

Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
The $10 wouldn't bother me too much. It is the fact that they make you get insurance is what bothers me. I would feel really wierd going into my insurance agent asking for insurance for something that never sees a public road.

Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
There have been some really nasty accidents in the last few years with people zooming around on pit vehicles, kids going all over the place at silly speeds, and whatnot.
A year ago one of our fellow racers was motoring along on a scooter when someone backed out of their pit without looking and he ended up going face first into the pavement. Lost a couple teeth, mangled their face and spent the evening in the ER (amazingly he went into the 3rd round the next day). And much worse has happened. Insurance seems like a good idea, and if it costs $10/year to administer a program that insures people have it, and that people can be held accountable if stuff happens, that seems OK with me. |

Never seeing a public road just makes it really cheap. |
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
Chris, It's not about the 10 bucks. I wish they would check for ins. at all tracks. I have it and always will, but they don't check that they just want some extra cash. When does it stop. What's bad is some only run that div. a few races.
I guess what I mean is if they take your money make sure everyone has insurance. |
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
The insurance is an additional $85 to $100 a year on top of the $10 registration.
|
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
When I bought my sticker all that was required was the $10 and my Competition Number and my state drivers license number on the form.
I did not show insurance coverage of was even asked if I had it. I asked if that covered me on insurance for the pit bike and was told NO....It was only a registration. I am not sure what the $10 did for me??? Other than lighten my wallet... My 10 bucks worth Rick Cates |

I told the wife if she was stopped on the way to the staging lanes following me there to ignore them and tell them we would stop by after the pass and see them. I do not know if that would have worked or not but it could throw off your regular procedure in the staging lanes. She was lucky and no one did stop her and ask for anything. The time to check the insurance coverage is when you get your restricted credentials at the NHRA trailer, but wait that makes to much sense and NHRA would never do that... My 2 Cents Rick Cates |

LOL....and it keeps getting better !

who needed the insurance in this instance? Definately not the guy on the scooter. If you are riding or driving down the road and someone backs out in front of you, it is their fault-not yours. |
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
I guess I better check into getting insurance for our golf cart now. I have never had it before. Unless it is covered by my homeowners or something. Time to call the ins agent. LOL We are racing part time this year to save money, but for some reason we just keep spending more and more.
Tell me again what the NHRA insurance we pay for is used for? We pay for it at nationals and we are supposed to get insurance with our membership as well. Not sure what that is for if we have to be insured for everything. |
Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
Ours is $60 per year for coverage on injury, medical, property damage etc. Replacement for theft, fire etc. is not covered under our homeowners policy, have to buy that on its own. Replacement cost for a $4K to $5K cart is less than a $100 a year.

Just try and collect..... Been there and done that.... It is a load of crap...... They just do not pay a penny.... You get stuck with all the bills and filing on your own dime. What I was told when I asked why they would not pay I was told "We will defend ourselves as long as it takes and to the full extent of the Contract With NHRA in Court" A real user friendly group. Re: Pit Vehicle Charge Div.5
There was no judgement on my part, in fact, I've heard others echo your comments. I was merely providing an answer to the question: what's the insurance payment for?
