Is it safe to presume that was the dual WCFB motor? (Even if it was, who'd ever have thought THAT was possible?)

Re: Congrats Rick Pike, first '56 in the 10's

Yes, two CFM challenged Carter WCFB's

Well over a second quicker than I could make mine run, with a stick, in 1972. LOL

That is a unreal time. What MPH did he run? Randall was it not you and your partner who was the first shoebox in the 10's? With your partners 57? I believe it was in Texas? Congrats to Rick and his very fast ride.....I tell people that two WCFB's would equal a good single 750 holley! People just don't understand it....

It's great to see an old time hot-rod still being tweaked and chasing records! That's extremely impressive and he should be proud!

Great job Rick
That car has been drag raced and held records for a long time.

I was in the stands for his first 10.97 pass, the guy sitting beside me thought the car must be a big block.

Thanks Randall and All, I appreciate it!

It was a fun weekend and although you take your chances with
the weather, if it doesn't rain at Mission it is one of the fastest tracks out there.

Besides my 10, The Nottinghams set the SS/EA record with
their "single four" 427 FE 1967 Fairlane @ 9.65 - way to go
Mike and Bob! ( Makes me want to finish the SS/D car )

Jim Isherwood was #1 qualifer in Super Stock with a 9.23
with his 1967 Belvedere Hemi. - Well done Jim!

Good friend Rick McKinney took home the trophy in Super Stock!
Congrats - You deserve it!

And lastly don't know if you all noticed Jirka Kaplan ran the first
Five, a 5.97, with a Competition Eliminator car.
That's pretty awesome too!

( My log-in isn't working so I'm using Dee's )

Thanks again Rick

Re: Congrats Rick Pike, first '56 in the 10's

that is a 265 plus 10.6 inches[assume .080 over] plus whatever you could get by with on the crank. so 276 inches maybe. 8 to 1 flat tops, 1.75 x 1.5 valves, and as richard says two carbs with butterflys the size of nickles! all that and either a 2 speed powerglide or a three speed manual
when someone tells you they had a friend who had a '57 that really ran....just laugh and nod.
many years ago i got my '56 Nomad with a 265 to run 13.15 at vegas [2200' 12.85 corrected] and though i had really done something
rod in AZ
