Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
Normally I'd be telling you about the great cars rolling in this morning but as of this minute I'm not there yet .It would be super if I could give you some really terrific excuse but the real deal is the fact that we had a small flood at home last night and Debbie being Debbie wanted to hear nothing but its "fixed"
before I leave for the track .Well , its fixed now and turned out to be toilet plumbing issue that I and Home Depot can take credit for fixing . I'll be there in a few hours to bring everyone up to speed .................... |

Jack, I will have to doc you a half days pay, man is it hard to find good help.
Marc, I'm in lane 24 and I think you right about where we will be parked. I don't think NHRA has many people parking, things are moving very slow. It is hot and humid here, upper 80’s, but it is supposed to break tomorrow with much less humidity and temps in the upper 70's. I have a few shots of the staging area for rigs. Also, Vinny Berone already park and getting ready for tomorrow. When I get parked I will be back with the schedule for tomorrows racing. |

I am parked and done with tech. Even though it took awhile to get parked, everything has gone surprisingly well. A small line for tech and no line for credentials. What I thought was going to be a long day, turned out to be smooth sailing.
I have the schedule for Thursday and Friday. Friday's times were block, but it will still give everyone an idea what Friday will look like. Once I get settle in, I will be back with more pictures and any info worth noting. |

Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
Well It's almost 6:30 PM and I'm back at the house now after an exhausting 15 minute ride home.We had a bit of a downpour at around 5:00 PM.Just a bit of rain and some nice sized hail stones, some bigger than nice sized marbles.Like Ken said Stock,SS and the Super category cars are parked on the pit side, above the area of the time ticket booth. It was explained to me that only towed vehicles were parking on the spectator side due to some incedents with spectators last year playing matador with the cars navigating the pits at the spectator entrances. It was getting a bit crowded when I left, but all in all it should be good for the S/SS cars getting to their spots easier this year.
Redman is in the house, doing his usual excellent job of making us welcome. And the tech guys did a good job of keeping the tech lanes short. I spent the afternoon as apprentice to Tom Goldman who sorted out a few small issues with the little chugger motor. I hope to have something in the class single marathon. |

Well folks, I knew Jack was in the house. Not only did it rain, but we also got hail. Make sure you turn up the volume up so you can hear the hail hitting the ground. It has stopped now and the sun is trying to come out.
As you can see by the Camaro in Gary Richard's pit area, he still has a soft spot for Chevys. The Oak Tree Duster is our Division I Champion, Dustan Lowell. Billy Pires, is now in a 69 Nova, the bird went by by and he tells me he loves his new ride. Our very own Class Racer star, Ed Fernandez working on his car. Folks, you don't know how much I wanted to shut that hood... just kidding Ed. |

Thanks fellas - you can blame many things on me but the rain -complete with huge hail - I'm good but not that good .The hail that came late this afternoon was fifty cent size and could have done plenty of damage if race cars had been out .
Tonight brought a nice quiet dinner with friends - homemade fried chicken and apple pie w/coffee for desert - racing isn't just about cars- breaking bread with competitors is OK too . At this another storm is hitting and its a duzie - good news is its just rain - no hail again . In the AM because we're here in Old Bridge Township engines cannot be started before 10 so time trials will start around 10:15 with Stock out first .............. |
Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
Glad to hear you're all settled in! Dinner looks delicious!
Good luck this weekend! Lew |

Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
I saw on the NHRA schedule that it is 10:15am on Friday as well. Is that accurate or is there an earlier start time?

Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
Rob
10:15am is the correct start time. Can't start racing till that time because of town or state laws. |
Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
I think NJ has a law for everything don't they? I am coming to Ocean City later in the year. They don't even let you use a BBQ grill on the porch of your beach house.

Yo Ken, when ED comes back to my pit I will feed him to my car. He will fit under my hood...................lmfao:D

Good morning - Today is not yesterday for sure - no heat nor humidity as the temp is now around 75 and won't get much higher than 80 with 35% humidity and the barometer at a whopping (compared to last weekend) 29.84 and a DA of 1700 '
In an hour and a half or so we'll get going with a full schedule today - can't ask for more -sunshine / blue skies ........well you know the rest ! ! ! Came across this Hurst Supercharged Camaro and could resist snapping a shot or two ....... And then I came across this two tech guys ( Dave and RC ) - tech is open this morning for late arrivials ...............with class later today they'll be plenty busy . |
Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals

Regarding eating and enjoying the company; we have joked in the past about leaving the cars home and just go to cook, eat & BS.

While out walking this morning I went past "Big Daddys' pit - talk about old school - no 45' monster motor home - no Gold Rush stacker - just a dually and a "covered wagon " - much like he started with almost fifty years ago - kudos big guy .....................

Chris - It cuts down on structure fires! NJ really should be the safest state in the country - No left turns at intersections, no self-serve gas stations, etc. It's only when NJ-ians leave the Garden State that things start to happen! (Just kidding!):D Lew |

Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
Jack, we got to do something...wow. Well folks, it has been a great day of racing, you could not have ask for a better day. For you weather number nuts, the weather stayed the same for pretty much the whole day. Temp 82, Bar 29.80, Humid, 28%, DA 2050ft Wind cross head 8 to 15mph. I know Jack has been taking notes on class, so he should have a report soon. I got to the the final in AA, Steve Ficacci had the bye first round of class and I ran John Shaul. Steve broke a trans and could not make the next round, it was me and Dave Thomas in the final. I had nothing for Dave, second time this year I lost to Dave. This is the first of the in car cams. Forgive me, but I am still learning. I'm trying to figure out what works best and were to put the camera. I think by the end of the year I should know what the best spots are. The wavy video is because of the camera moving. I will have to find a better mount I will be back after dinner with more in car cams and pictures. .... |
Re: Live from Englishtown , NJ - NHRA Supernationals
Ken,
Many thanks for the video. I would like to suggest a "ride" in one of the Morehead SSers. I love the way they leave and recover. Good luck to every one and give us a great race. |

Too bad I was looking forward to the CJ against the V10 - with you racing the winner in the final I don't think the V10 has anything for the CJ though :-) peace |
