Indy 2011 A Stick Challenge...and A/SA Challenge!

Well it is that time of year. Time to talk about the A Stick Challenge at Indy!

I have had some tremendous grass roots support along with some pretty solid racer industry support for the A stick challenge over the last few years at Indy.

I really love the class racing part of the National Events, and especially have a soft spot for the A stick Cars. They take quite a bit of expense and upkeep, and can be a handful at times too.

The idea for the A stick Challenge is to provide some additional incentive to recognize these racers and to hopefully get some more participation at Indy.

This works well because there is no administration fee ( I donate my time) Ken Miele and ClassRacer.com has allowed me space to communicate to everyone, and I have received great support from racers and racer support companies alike!

I was talking to my buddy Scott Helms at Southland Speed ( Jeff Teuton) and he has gathered up some support for the A stick challenge. He threw out the idea of also an A/SA Challenge.

I thought, why not?

We all know that Contingency has been pretty bad for class.

However, ask the last 3 winners of the A stick Challenge! They enjoyed some serious Swag for no additional fee. Just show up and take no prisoners!

Heck, I even get some racers offering up $$$ for anyone that triggers 1.20 under on the way! Haven't had that happen yet, but who knows.

What do I need to make this happen?

1) I need your support- If you want to help out, kick in a dollar or a hundred, if you have connections for potential racer support, that works too. I have had racers walk up and just hand me a gas card because they want to support the deal! That is great too. The money goes dollar for dollar to the racer that wins and or is runner up in class. I will also be making more shirts available for sale in advance. I have sold out of shirts every year and I want to make sure everyone that wants one gets one. Details to follow on that. Preorders will be appreciated.

2) Get the word out! There are some real nice A stick cars that need to saddle up and get ready now to be loaded for Bear come Indy time. I am sure many many more A/SA's. ( Don't bother if you are a wuss and plan on running 1000ft! It's Indy for cryin out loud LOL.)

3) Donate, Support, Cheer on your favorites! We can get the word out about the many great sponsors that will contribute to some of the best class racing that we can get together this year! I will do my best to get the word out about the many good sponsors that jump in and give them their due. As you recall in year's past, I highlight all sponsors as they come on board.

4) How do you do it? E mail me at jimschaechter@earthlink.net. I can get you hooked up!

5) Stay tuned! I will post updates as they come out. Time to get busy! Gas is $4.00 bucks a Gallon, but time stops for no man! Let's get some support to make it worth their while to get tuned up and ready for Indy!

Thanks, Jim

Well let's get the ball rolling. Fischer's Align a wheel will give $50 to winner and $25 to r/u of the A/S shootout.

Sounds like nobody with a CJ, DP or a T-Bolt will get a bottle of "Kentucky's Finest" from Larry if they win. I must say I agree with it except for the T-Bolt part.

You know Hill, I bet I can get a Louisiana tag for my new Red DP with the extra pedal. I want some really good stuff too, not that cheap stuff you drink.

Larry come join us! The more the merrier. I think you are the only stickshift DP on the track right now. Doesn't mean there won't be more, but so far, I have only seen yours on DRC.

James,
Thank you for the invitation, their is nothing I would enjoy more. I wish I could join you at Indy, but poor planning on my part mixed with a little bad luck has consumed my budget for Indy. I will try again next year. Also I am removing my restriction on my donation, a bottle of Crown Royal to the winner of A/S, no exclusions. Just let me know where to send it.

James is trying to do a good thing here. Why are some of you bringing your bull%^&t into this? What a shame. Ed

Ed,
I agree with you, I appreciate and admire James for putting this together. I would like to retract my previous statements. I can not figure out how to erase them, maybe the moderator could remove them for me?
Larry

Keep up the good work James.

Don't sweat in Larry, anyone that runs the iron in A/Stick or A/SA has to have a sense of humour or they wouldn't do it in the first place! :)

Sounds like good fun...count the Buckner Boys in on the A/SA shootout with a 6.1 DP. I will speak to a few good names and see if we can't get them to throw some money in on it too. Will keep you updated. Think it's awesome that you put this together, maybe we can start doing it at the sportsnationals as well. Just food for thought.

$50.00 cash to the A/Stick Winner from the Adkins and Bailey Race Team.

You may remember that killer Shelby A stick car that they have! They have raced at Indy in the Challenge before. ( Runner up to McFarland), but can't make the trip this year.

They are kicking in to support those that make the trek! Thanks Racers! Jim

Larry, it might not fit A/SA by the time Indy rolls around. ;)

Sean, It fits now, the 2012 will run off and hide from the rest of the "Pack". Remenber its still a math problem!

Good luck to you and the rest of the Cour camp on the Western Swing.

Another Great Supporter! This time once again for The A/stick Challenge!

If you have seen some of the great pit mats and one piece Fender covers in the pits, it should come to no surprise that Derby City Covers made them. MJ is a racer himself and knows the abuse our cars take while we flog on them and he builds in high quality materials to protect our stuff when we are flogging on it!

http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...tDerbyCity.jpg
Team Calvert knows Quality! Extra $$$ to them as John won the A/Stick Challenge in 2010!

Here is a note from MJ. ( CEO of Derby City)

DERBY CITY COVERS would like to reward the A/S Class winner with " the ULTIMATE PIT PAD" a one inch thick vinyl pad that measures 54 x 36 inches.

In addition, we will post 50 dollars /25 dollars for WIN/RU.

FURTHERMORE, if the WIN/RU has PURCHASED the CLASSIC COVERALL fender cover we will double the payout.

For more info contact DERBY CITY COVERS TOLL FREE 888 268 3771 ... THANKS!!!

How about that!
