Leaded Race fuel going into Canada
I haven't raced in Canada in a while and I'm planning on going to Mission in a week, then{I can't believe I'm considering this} going to Medicine Hat a week later. I plan on having my tank in my car full of Sunoco standard, plus take about 10 gallons in plastic cans. What about Canadas' rules on using this there and taking it across the border???P.s I'm trailering the car and running it in Stock class at 2 National Opens. Thanks

Re: Leaded Race fuel going into Canada
Tim, the leaded fuel ban up here has been set aside again, so we have been able to buy it without much trouble. That said, Mission Raceway does not have a trackside fuel vendor this year, so it`s best to bring your own, it`s much cheaper in the US anyhow. Now, as for transporting fuel in jugs, I`ve never personally had any problems on either side of the border, although technically there may be a limit to the amount that can be legally carried without safety placards on the tow vehicle or trailer. But again, I`ve never had any problems. See you at Mission.

Re: Leaded Race fuel going into Canada
Glad to hear your planning on racing north of the border, on that note we have been going south across the border back and forth a couple of times this year and no mention of the amount of fuel we carry. We run two cars and carry 2 5 gallon jugs per car and it seems all they care about is ownership of the cars and if there are any firearms or produce aboard. Bring a rain coat to Mission and auxillary fans to Medicine hat, Mission has liquid sunshine and Med. hat just has SUN!

Re: Leaded Race fuel going into Canada
You won't have any problems with race fuel, we crossed the border with two barrels a couple weeks ago that we bought off Phil. We had to pay taxes on it only because we are canadian.
Don't forget your passport and as Phil said, bring your mosquito spray, they are real bad in Mission right now and they won't be disappearing anytime soon. |

Re: Leaded Race fuel going into Canada
Out of curiosity I sent the Washington state patrol a email asking how much fuel we can carry without getting into trouble. Here is the reply.
"Dear Sir/Ma’am: Thank you for your inquiry to the Washington State Patrol. As a non commercial vehicle, you are allowed to carry one hundred eighteen gallons of gasoline. Anything more than this requires that you have a hazardous placard and a commercial driver’s license to transport it. If we may be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us. Sincerely, WSP Webmaster/crp" |
