What is your favorite dragstrip?
Hey everybody, what is your favorite dragstrip to race at and why?
|
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Numedia (PA), great track and beautiful landscap. Everyone is always friendly and the food (pie and ice cream) is reasonably priced and good. They should have an open or divisional race again.

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
I have to agree with you Joe and Dennis. Numidia, then Atco but then I'll have to go with Maple Grove for a 1, 2, 3.

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
I won't pick an absolute favorite out of the 276 I've attended but here are two memorable current tracks:
George Ray's: It took me eleven years to win class (H/SA) but I finally did it in 2004. In 2009, I finally won an eliminator there. Ungodly tough racing but a wonderful experience every time I've ever pulled through the gates. Isom, KY: Maybe the toughest racing I've ever experienced but was lucky enough to win an event there; paid in cash and the trophy is the tallest I've ever won...including season point championships! |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Without question it's Beech Bend in Bowling Green.

Has to be Utica Rome ! lol |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Mine would be Rockingham. Been going there since the early 70's and it's Home.
I also like Bristol , Norwalk, and MIR Chip Johnson |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
In D1 it's got to be Numidia , Great track and people and the best track food anywhere !
Shame we dont get to go there more often. |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
No Problem Raceway, followed by Beech Bend. Third would go to Gainesville ( mostly because i grew up going to the gators there and its kinda like hallowed ground to me)
|
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
South Georgia Motorsport Park ..All concrete track, well Groomed pits. Plus a round track on the grounds.

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Beech Bend ! It was the best time I had racing my SS Camaro back in 1978. I also raced there in 1968-69 while I was still in the Army. Love the shaded spectator stands. Makes for a better time watching during the hot summer days. All tracks should do this. Racing was less complicated then to.

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Norwalk, Bristol
...and there was always just a certain feel and sound at Maple Grove in the fall |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
The Strip at Las Vegas
Awesome pits and bathrooms all over the place. No portajohns. |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Well I'll go with Numidia as my #1, great food, great people, great track and Bob and his family are some of the nicest you will meet. The man has put ALOT of work into the track and is only making it better! Only wish we could get a D-1 Divisional / Open up there again.
#2 - Atco - It's my home track and Joe has also put a lot of love into the track over the years. #3 - MIR - Great Facility and Royce is one of the nicest guys around. Least Favorites - Atlanta Dragway (If the track doesn't kill you then the piles of fire ants that are all over the ground will) Cecil County - Track just needs someone to give it an "Extreme Makeover" soon! |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
The track that you grew up at!
(in my case, Island Dragway!) |

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
No Problem Raceway. Great facility, great staff and great food. Doesn't get any better.
|
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
My two favorites:
1) Quaker City in Salem OH (home track) 2) Mason-Dixon in Hagerstown MD (beein doing S/SS races there since 1996) Honorable mention: Keystone Raceway/Pittsburgh Raceway Park Ones I'm not to crazy about: MIR and Atco (all paved parking makes it brutal when it's hot, no shade)...no motels really close to the track at either place (1/2 hour drive or more, and all the ones at MIR are close to, or over, $100 per night. Beaver Springs doesn't have any close motels either). I've had fun and enjoyed every track I've ever been to, though. Everything from an old outlaw 1/8 mile track that used to be an airport (Steubenville OH) to Indy and a lot in between. |

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
For me it's not the track,it's the people at the track,my friends and family, if it wasn't for them I wouldn't race at all.

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
For me there no better feeling than racing on "Parker Avenue" Sunday afternoon .........Either in February or November .

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Always liked something about Conn. Dragway.Always enjoyed running there while it was open. Enjoyed running Island Dragway and miss Dover in Wingdale,NY. Don't know what ya got til its gone. Was only 20 min. from the house. Since moving to N.C. in '99, I like running Fayetteville. Ray , the announcer does a great job promoting the stock/SS cars on the PA system. Since moving south ,also have come to love IHRA and how well they treat sportsman racers.

Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
Bandimere Speedway for three reasons:
1. No other track I've been to has a cool down island that'll cool up to 12 cars at once...just don't drink that water! 2. Stadium seating...it's like being at "Red Rocks" for a concert! They need handrails though! 3. Down hill staging lanes...lower engine temps due to less need for starting your engine to move your vehicle...also no need to push it until you're nearly under the tower! Note: Although I love the track for those reasons, I don't care for the north 40, and it's isolation from the racing action. However, the pros outweigh the cons. Honorable mentions: Thunder Valley Raceway, Marion Sd., since that's the only track I've raced at that I've earned triple digit money at every time, and the shaded pits were cool for camping around too! Douglas Motor Sports Park, Douglas, Wy. At no other divisional I've ever attended did the towns people come out and offer fresh fruit like they did for the '96 divisional...that was a major attraction for the whole town, and the people there showed us racers/crew how much we were appreciated for attending the event! Southwestern International Raceway, Tucson, Az. Where else can you enjoy Bacon and eggs, and watch race cars blaze by heading down the quarter-mile? |
Re: What is your favorite dragstrip?
1. ZMax
