"Live" from Stanton, MI Lucas Oil race

Well we are in Michigan, but not quite to Stanton yet. We drove up to visit with Al and Bev Provoast at their home before going on to Stanton in the morning.

As you can tell, they are both looking and doing great!

We are leaving in the morning and driving about 135 miles down and over to Stanton. It was 740 miles up here. Knock on wood, we haven't had any trouble.

Well I will post more tomorrow after we get there. The gates are supposed to open at 5, then test and tune from 5-9.

Larry, I believe they will open sooner than five o'clock, but I can't be sure. I hope to be there around three. See you then.

They haven't started parking much earlier than 5 pm in the past. I wouldn't count on it.

Wow - the Provoasts look terrific - what are they doing with their time ?

Hey Jack,
You wanted to know what the Provoasts are doing now: Here is Larry and Al this morning working on the exhaust for Al's generator. We got ready to leave this morning and discovered a problem with the muffler on the generator. So they are working on it now.

Here is a picture of wood cut up to burn. They use a wood burning stove in the winter and Al says he has enough wood for another 10 years. He says he guesses he will have to use the furnace after that.

And here is a picture of their garden. Bev still cans and puts things up for the winter. Wonderful pickles!!

Here is a picture of the really pretty birch trees on their place. Larry wanted me to stand among them and see if you could tell the difference between the birches and the bitches! Isn't he ugly??

Patsy & Larry,

Al & his wife look great, we should all age as well .... They haven't changed a bit since I saw them at Indy years ago..
Take care and keep doing what ever it is your doing ... Maybe we should all give up Racing ?? Glad they are enjoying themselves.

Track had test and tune Friday from 6 to 10. The first two hours was just a wast of time, the oily spots at the K-Mart parking lot had more traction. Later the track got some better but still saw some super gasers aport runs midway down the track. A/SA Challenger blew the tires off and still went 10.20's @ mid 130's. Bill Skilman was testing his '12 Mustang and it looked like he was having fun.

Internet service is not very good so we will do what we can.

Looks like the 2012 Mustang will now be AA-only after this week.

Only one car with a carb qualified in the top 10 in Stock. Buddy Hughes, way to go!

Re: "Live" from Stanton, MI Lucas Oil race

Well it is almost 11 pm and I finally got on the internet! Just cooked steaks with Tonya and Keith Lynch, Jim Bailey and John McLeod. Even had corn on the grill. Well the weather here today has been 2700-3000' DA. About 87 or so on most runs. We picked up a little when we waited for the clean-up run. Blew the tires off 1st run this morning as did lots of other people. Mitch Truman had problems most every run. Charley Downing blew the hood off his as he was going for a record run (after getting HP off his combination). It also busted the windshield, but he has it fixed now. He is also driving Roy Hill's other car in SS. Super stockers who blew up: Rock Running is testing Yesterday, Zack Running, Dave Boertman. I saw Jeremy Duncan being towed back, but he has it running again.

Robbie Shaw is driving one of Zaskowski's cars. Trans went out this morning, but they got another one in and he made the clean-up.

Bill Skillman went fast enough to get HP on the 2012 Mustang on Tuesday morning. He did not have to teardown, because tech said they did not have the tools to tear him down with???

Hopefully I will be able to post again, but I may have to remember everything and post after we leave here.

Yup. I'm spoiled with 4g in cincy... Barely having any 3g all day was painful hahah. Hate not having internet at the track.

....and this is why we don't race on paper! ;)

Your dad did a great job this weekend as well, Jason! We were cheering him on too!

Re: "Live" from Stanton, MI Lucas Oil race

Well we are finally back in civilization where there is internet service. Sorry we were not able to post. At 5 in the morning or 11 at night you could get a little service, but I wasn't up at those hours much.

We had a good time with good friends this weekend and did pretty well also! Larry ran test and tune on Friday and didn't hook very well at first, but then did some adjustments and finally got it to where it left pretty well every time in eliminations. It was hot, but windy so it didn't seem quite so bad as long as we were under our shade tree that we commandeered when we first got there. The wind made a big difference in dialing as it was a head wind. Larry was driving pretty well this weekend and then when he didn't, the person he was running did worse than he did. When he got to the semis and was looking toward the finals, I sure was glad we had put all those contingency decals on. Hopefully we will get another chance to cash in on them later in the year.

We drove on down to Middlebury, IN to NRC to have a little work done on the motorhome, so we are parked in their parking lot for the night.

I guess we are home til Bowling Green and then on to Indy. Sorry I didn't get any pics this weekend, but since I wasn't able to post them, I just took the weekend off.

We will be back "Live" the end of August.

Thanks Beth, I just put on my happy face. :)

I was cheering him on from the other side of the country too.

Nice to hear everyone had fun this weekend, wish I was there.

Re: "Live" from Stanton, MI Lucas Oil race

Well we are within about 3 hours of home finally. NRC did a great job of installing an updated tv in our motorhome today and then the microwave went out while we were there and they chased that down too. So hopefully we are all set for the rest of the season. For all of you who know the people up there, Gus was riding his Harley and stopped and it fell on his ankle and broke it, so he is out for a while.

Mike Fuller emailed me some pics he took this weekend so whenever I can figure out how to get them to here, I will post them. Any suggestions on how to do that???

Save them to the web, so they have a URL, then post them from there. When I post pics here, I upload them to my Facebook page, then copy the URL and post them from there.
