Not really surprising, it should be about an A/SA car.

Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
This is the side by side Q-1 run.........E/SA vs. C/SA
E/SA 0.080 R/T 1.436 60' 4.221 330' 6.578 660' 103.55 MPH 8.683 1000' 10.628 1/4 108.56 MPH C/SA 0.014 R/T 1.373 60' 4.257 330' 6.718 660' 99.19 MPH 8.864 1000' 10.685 1/4 123.60 MPH How about an E/SA car has a C/SA by .140 ET & 4.36 MPH at the 1/8th............... I have no idea how fast this combo can run because they run the back half much better than the front half..... He was out of it way before the 1000'........ As it was said before "The question is, "Is NHRA just incompetent or corrupt?" Bob |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
Bob just check the Division 3 car. It will go in the 9's in E. I dont believe he showed near all of it to win E in 2010 at Indy.

Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
I did some simple math on it, I figured that it would have run around 10.5 and change.
Fast!! Casey Miles 248H Stock? |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
Compared to a friends car. 10:30's at 129+
|
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
Atleast low 10.40s, probably 30s
|
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
It would be like letting me have a set of Dart heads with 230cc intake runners, 515 lift cam, victor intake and a 1000 cfm dominator and rating it at 293 hp. Oh yeah and an additional point of compression.
|
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
With the 1/8 mile number I have 10.46. If he lifted before 1/8 then wow.
|
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
You could make a case to Yes on both count's beyond a resonable doubt!

I also have more good news.............
That the 2010 Mustang Coupe352ci 285/295 NHRA HP is a natural F/SA car............. Soooooooooooooo he can run E/SA, F/SA & G/SA........ The 2010 Mustang Convertable 352ci 285/295 NHRA HP is a natural G/SA car ............. Soooooooooooooo he can run F/SA, G/SA & H/SA........ Even Ray Charles can see that this combo is a joke............. Bob |

Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
Thanks to Chris Holbrook for an awesome motor.
I built my car from a brand new 2010 5spd. V6 "donor" car. It went directly to the shop from the dealership and took me about 11 months working full time and spending 2-3 days per week on the car to complete it. On the scales at Infinion I was 3225. 3120 is E/SA. If all the timing was in and I let it leave the starting line when we had 700' of air, it would go 10.0's |

Mustang was low qualifier and out 2nd round of eliminations on a break-out. Not that hard to break a guy out and get rid of him when he's sandbagging that much, is it? |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
Maybe not, but what happens if Mark Lelchook (or any other E/SA for that matter...) draws the Mustang heads-up? Mark's car is really fast for E/SA, but it's going to look foolish when he's 3/4 of a second behind. Just because it didn't happen doesn't mean there's no reason to complain.

Everyone is blaming the Factory, But and a big but is that it is totally the fault of NHRA for not adjusting these ratings they need to fix this ratings. NHRA did not have to approve the screwy ratings. Lean on NHRA to fix it. They NHRA are like the odors in DC
QUOTE=A56;272139]Im not impressed with the times one bit on the 352" mustang at all, nor any of the new cars for that matter. The combo is as bogus as can be, a true slap in the face by NHRA and Ford to us Stock Eliminator Racers, just as all the new Ford and Mopar combinations have been. I have no problem with the new cars being introduced into Stock Eliminator, I would welcome them with open arms, But NHRA , Ford, Mopar, please just simple do the basic math and put a correct horsepower factor on them to begin with. It amazes me that our old cars were built with 40 year old technology, by the same manufacturers, and they are rated basicly the same as the new cars. If this all is true and correct Ford, Mopar, Chevrolet, and us as Men, in due time should be walking on our feet and hands like Cavemen. I have zero respect for any man that kicks people while there on the floor, that hits there children, that feels there a better person than another, or that cant simply put the correct factor on a modern competition engine. Mark Lelchook E/SA #704[/QUOTE] |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
Think they would be rated like this if Farmer was still doing it?

Anyone that defends this crap is just as corrupt as the people allowing it.... No I don't race stock but I did and have many times going all the way back to 1966...... As a 40+ year membr of NHRA I can say this ranks up there with things like Dumping the original Stock Eliminator.... Dumping Modified Eliminator...... Dumping Pro Stock Truck..... Allowing totally BOGUS cars into Stock with ZERO regard for those that have been in it for years and years and supported NHRA..... Thats just my opinion though and nobody cares because money talks here..... |

Kinda like bragging about kissing your sister or beating up the smallest kid on the playground. Grew up in this sport, spent tens of thousands of my own money to have 2 obsolete cars versus the new factory cars. Think I'll stay close to home until things settle down. |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
You know, this honestly should have been the best thing to happen to Stock and Super Stock in a long, long, time and it got totally screwed up.
45 years ago we all got a great starting point to race from. The introduction of the muscle cars laid the foundation for what we're doing today. But after all these years, you'd have to admit that they're 90% scienced out. So with the new cars, we should have gotten a fresh start, something to build on for the next forty years. But whether it was corporate greed, stupidity, or something else it's not going to happen that way and we're not going to see those great minds figure out how to make these new cars run at 110% like we did the old ones. If the cars had been factored correctly, this would have been the golden age for class racing with new vs old, highly teched cars vs development cars, etc. That got taken away from us and look where we're at. It's beyond sad. |

http://dragracecentral.com/DRCStory....r2010#indextop Dave Ficacci has one of the fastest A/SA cars around and got outrun by over 2 tenths, and Duell was even off the gas early. He never even had a chance. Just curious, what class do you race? Do you have the possibility of racing one heads up? |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
I'm pretty sure just about everyone from A through J Stock has the possibility of running one of the new cars heads up. Jim

Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
Face it guys......all the complainning in the world on this forum wont do any good. We have been bitching since these abortions came out. The only way to get it fixed is to write letters, call the NHRA AND stay the "F" home for awhile in protest and quit pizzing your money away with those dumb azzed entry fees. Screw the points for awhile. It wont kill you. MONEY runs these decisions OR for those who are close enough just race IHRA (they are seperated from the carb muscle cars) and the local combos until NHRA gets their head out of their azz. Its the ONLY way to get their attention. Money talks and BS walks.
|
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
I'd have to agree with Terry on this one. Just stay away from NHRA events for a while. The entry numbers are already down due to the economy and allthe while the cost keeps going up with no real difference in payout. Kinda like going to a gunfight armed with a pocket knife.
Seems like IHRA, combo races, association races, etc. are a better choice for now. JMT. |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
I haven't been to a National event since 2008 and won't go back to one until something is done about these bogus cars.

Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
It's very easy to be fast when you combo's with phoney rating's. You don't have to do R & D to make your combos fast. You just borrow a engine put it in your car for a big race like Indy then Brag and pat yourself on the back about how good you are like some racer's are doing. Again SHAME ON NHRA for NOT DOING THERE JOB! As has been been said in the past this would not happen when Jack Hart, Farmer, Greg X, Marty B and the old line Divison Tech Dirs were runing the Circus. The real way to fix this would be Class winers only for Elminator on Race Day.

I don't know if anyone has looked at Comp lately but if you want Stock SS to look like they do on raceday xhange it back to where only class winner's get to participate in the eliminator on Sunday....
Brad |
Re: Wow !! Sonoma stock !!!
How would class winners fix that if the cars that win class have bogus power ratings?
There wouldn't be such an issue if the new cars were rated properly and were normal production combos like the 4000lb 5.7 and 6.1 Challenger without the foot-tall teepee intake or the Shelby GT500 with it's blown 5.4 rated at 500hp. |
