Any opinions on best hooking 9" radial for current track prep,esp in hot conditions?

My vote is for Hoosiers. I used to run Goodyears years ago, and that's why I switched.

Naturally, the tire is just one part of it. The rest of the car/suspension needs to be good as well as individual track prep. But I've been VERY happy with my 9" Hoosier lightweight radials on 10" rims also for many years. No problems at Budds Creek, MD in 90*-100* heat a few weeks ago.

Randy, the new Goodyears are best for the way you and I drive our cars.

Trust me I have tried them all.

I've had good luck with both Goodyears and Hoosiers and when I haven't, both companies have dealt with me fairly. I have no reason to believe M/T would be any different though it's been many years since I ran them for some reason. The main thing is to keep track of how many hits a set of tires has on it. For my C/SA wagon the magic number seems to be around sixty. After that, consistency starts to go away. I was hoping that we might get more out of the H/SA 2 door but we don't.

Bottom line:Hoosier and Goodyear both currently make a great product. I just bought a set of the Hoosier lightweights and we love them on our H/SA car and I've got a set of almost new Goodyears on my wagon. I'm waiting for an M/T sponsorship and don't pitch me any ***** about my stash of Toyo bias ply 9X30s...

60 runs?! With the crate motor, I ran my 30x9 M/T Radials 115 runs (which means they were done at 110-112) ;) Been 1.40 60' on cords. I usually ran 18psi in them. Ran 21 in them part of one season, but found they weren't consistent there. While you can run radials super hard, that doesn't mean you HAVE to. Find what works for your car and combo. I even bracket raced full-time on the radials.

I too have made fast runs on cords. Isn't it amazing? I didn't even know until I came home and unloaded. "Whoah! Better order some new slicks!" I was just saying that 60 hits are guaranteed to be as consistent as your combo/driving will allow. I think that the runs between 60-100 might be the fastest? What is your experience?

Both fast and consistent from Run #1 - Run #109. Hit and miss from 110-115.

I have to go with Hoosier right now,but Goodyear did make a pretty good working tire for our cars a few years ago.

BTW,I do think those 60 ft times at Stanton last week were a little bogus.The 60 ft times seemed at least .02 fast,and the reaction times seemed at least .02 slow...at least for me.Obviously,Tony D had no problems!

I ran both M/T's and Hoosiers on my LT-1 Firebird...

I felt the M/T's were better......did not last a lot of runs for me but I was probably doing way to much burnout on a car that would hook without a burnout.....Best 60' was 1.32 or 1.34 can't recall the exact number. Usually ran 18-20lbs of air.....

Hoosiers just did not feel like they hooked as well and the 60's were slower....M/T 3066 R......if I remember right

I had similar results with M'T's a dragster ......They worked in any weather.....Loved them....
