You might be a stick racer if;

Your Granny is offened by the term "Granny Shift"

If your left leg and right arm are noticably larger

When you you were a kid your bicycle had 3 pedals

Your 4 year old has to use shifting motion to count to 4

Thought about a career truck driving just so you could shift gears

Your wife says your 6 year old lost a tooth you reply which gear

You use 4 speed for bench pressing

You quit your job because company car was automatic

Refuse to have automatic withdraws on checking account

Hear someone Granny shift and you have to be restrained

You have ever got a christmas card from the Nashes,Liberty's,Long's,or Hemmingson's

Ever launched a footbrake car on top bulb

Your baby gets upper& lower teeth and you try to figure what ratio they have

You never have heard a opponent's car leave the strarting line

[QUOTE=Mike Taylor 3601;275063

If your left leg and right arm are noticably larger

That only applies to the "old school" 3000 lb + pressure plates. I have McLeod Soft Loks in both cars, and the gas pedal is harder to push down than the clutch! (Maybe a slight exageration, but not by much.)

You use 4 speed for bench pressing

Yeah, but a Jerico doen`t give you the same "workout" that a all iron Toploader or MoPar A833 did!

Hers a couple more;
you don`t own any pink T shirts.
You also don`t own one of those wierd looking funnels that is really skinny at the bottom,
You can buy a used Jerico, run it for 5 or 10 years, with just a few oil changes, and sell it for what you paid for it.
Did ya ever notice that stick guys tend to smile more?

Here's a couple more:

Everytime you work on a friend's automatic racer, you slow it down.

You drive your wife's automatic car using your left foot for the brake simply because it won't be still.

Converters make no sense; if you need to leave harder, just step it up.

You know the gear ratios of every available Detroit V8 manual transmission built since 1955.

Re: You might be a stick racer if;

Good ones! My first automatic, and it is kinda boring. Just getting too old for the maint.

Larry Hill 08-14-2011 06:31 PM

Re: You might be a stick racer if;

You make a run, get back to your pit, put the car on four jack stands, and lay under it!

james schaechter 08-14-2011 06:41 PM

Re: You might be a stick racer if;

Or in your case Larry, you just lift the car up with one arm and wiggle the trans out with the other. LOL.

Now, most of my shirts have gravel dust ground into the shoulders from lying on them, but I have seen plenty of the auto guys with the car up in the air. Of course those racers have pink stains on the Front of their shirts! :)

Re: You might be a stick racer if;

A few more;

1) When you go to buy a new vehicle your first question to the salesperson is; "does it come with a stick".
His/her reply; "whats that"?

2) You put your stick shift race car up for sale. Potential new owner says he is going to put an automatic in it. Your reply, "Sorry its no longer for sale".

3) You don't know how automatics work and don't care to learn.

4) Fellow racer comes over to offer you a complete automatic trans to convert your car over. You politely decline.

My wife and I have discussed make T shirts and selling them we are going to get website soon and possibly do that.
My name for the T shirt line would be stickman,but use stick person drawing.
Dave, your daughter driving stick reminded me of story my younger brother was'nt married,I saw coverage where Jamie Duke(Kilgore) won in A or B stocker I told him I found him a woman,He said whats she look like?I said I don't know,does'nt matter she drives a stick.

Another one,
If you've had the racer you just beat come over and congratulate you then tell you how good you could do if you had automatic.
That's true story has happened to me several times.

Another one you guy's that go back to Hays Mark12 days will get this.

You launch the first time you think the car in burnout box behind you has just rearended you.

You might be a stick shift racer if..

You have to sell your car that has too much bondo that keeps cracking from all the speed shifting.

Re: You might be a stick racer if;

Automatics work by fluid pressure. As you get older, you might become suspicious about the reliability of parts that require fluid pressure to function, lol.

Re: You might be a stick racer if;

You might be a stick racer if you have ever ripped the "T" handle off the shifter going for second gear and still made two more shifts to complete the run. Still have the scar to prove it.

You might be a stick racer if you think ATF is only used for fogging down a motor before storing it for the winter.

You might be a stick racer if you find yourself dumping the imaginary clutch pedal in the couch when watching pro stock on tv.

Re: You might be a stick racer if;

You might be a stick shift racer if, you ran a 3200 lbs pressure plate and when you got to the place to get your ET slip, your leg is shaking so bad that your worried about it slipping off the clutch pedal. You might be a stick shift racer if, your line lock doesn't work you try to do a water burnout with your right foot on the brake and accelerator pedal at the same time. You might be a Stick Shift racer if you wonder why everyone doesn't put their car in neutral after they cross the finish line.

Brad,
I went 3rd shifter stayed in 2nd. then I noticed T handle in my hand threw it to side grabbed stick got third & 4th and won round,went back rewired line lock and ran 3-4 more rounds with top broke off shifter.

If you have ever sold 500 auto trans cores to buy 1 new Liberty. (my Dad did that in 1989 )
