Good afternoon - It must be charma ( mostly bad ) time to race here in Division One and its raining - so what's new ?

After all the good reporting on here from the Hills' , Toby Lang and the boss from Indy I'm going to feel like I'm on the graveyard shift as this race won't have much to offer as Indy did .

The ride here was mostly uneventful with the exception of some water and mud on a few roads - except for the trucker pictured below - he's having a bad day .

Also note that we don't enter in Gate 2 - we must use Gate 3 / the main entrance and turn left about 100 yards in - follow signs .

PS - Did I mention the Sun is shining at this moment ?

Good morning and welcome to Day 1 here at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park - No better sound in the world that you can hear first thing in the morning is the Jet track dryer - and its going as I type .They have three hours befor things get going but Bob being Bob ( NHRA Division One Director Bob Lang ) is usually up and going before the crack of dawn .And he'll have this track whipped into shape quickly .

As for the weather - it looks great out - Sunny with the temp in the low sixties and rising .Today we'll steal a line from Mr.Rogers -- "What a wonderful day to be in the neighborhood " . Sure applies here at E-Town today ..............

No starting of engines till 10 but tech will open at 8 sharp ........I got work to do ---- later .

Stock got their first ( and probably only ) qualifier in - track is about .02 slow in the sixty and most are a tad slower than they were at Cecil County .After everyone get a shot we're to finish the Cecil race and if time permits another time trial ...........

Stock in the lanes, and a quick in car cam from Ed Bednaz.

The camera moved but you can see Ed get out of shape and then shut it down, I still thought it was worth posting and Ed gave me the ok to do so.

Because of the late 1:00 start, there was only one qualifying shot for SS. SG and ST got only one time shot. Stock, Comp and SC received two shots. Your guess is as good as mine for tomorrows schedule.

Congrats to Jim Boudreau on his Div 1 Cecil County rain out win over Lee Zane. It was a great race with a double breakout going to Jim, congrats to both.

What can I say Shane Carr is on a tear. He wins Indy in SS, Cecil County rain out win SS and SC.

OK - enough of the funny business - we finished the Cecil County race this afternoon - congrats go out to the winners - Jim Boudreau , Shane Carr , and Matt Sherman in S/G .Also an atta boy to Lee Zane and Joe Santangelo for their runner-up spots .

I really did get some work in today - here's a few more photos taken this afternoon .We quit around six tonight - SuperStock and SuperGas got bumped from the program because of the curfew .

I forgot to mention the weather this afternoon - ugly is the first word that comes to mind - pretty hot , humid , very high vapor pressure and some headwind - nice huh ? Oh and a DA over 3100 feet .Can you tell we're spoiled here in the Northeast ? ? ?

Tidbits - Todd Hoven who blew his stuff up at Indy did a huge thrash at Ellison Engine Service and showed up with a fresh bullet .Joe Garbarine in his new '11 Challenger Stocker is trying his luck this weekend in SS/DA .

Good morning - Can you believe it ? Another nice day here in New Jersey as the Sun is out and the temps to reach the low eighties this afternoon .Only a few days ago the forecasters were saying it would rain the entire weekend .

If you're "on the fence" about coming here's my advise - Saddle Up ! ! Plenty of pit parking left and you will get a time shot before eliminations this afternoon .

Back a little later ..........

PS - Things are looking so rosy here at Old Bridge I'm letting the animals out of the Ark today .

Stock , SuperStreet both got their last time shot and Comp ran their first round of elims .

Congrats to Steve Ficacci who is driving Anthony Bongiovannis CobraJet AA/SA qualified on the pole this morning and thats the good news .Bad news is he went -1.20 to do it as it was a whole ton faster this morning .His prize will be forthcoming Tuesday from the NHRA .

Its getting dark out in the last hour and I'm told its raining in Pennsylvania .They are in a hurry-up mode here to try and get as much done before the storms hit .

They are just finishing up with SG, but I am not sure if they will call Stock for first round. We were scheduled right after SG time shots, but we had a oil down on the starting that caused a one lane only for a good amount of SS qualifying. A few sprinkles started to fall and we were on hold on top of the oil down. Alcohol is supposed to run at 2PM so it looks like Stock will be pushed back.

The in car cam is brought to you by Marc LaBrecque in his GT/TC S10. The sun was bad on the left side, but I thought it was still a good in car to post.

They just called Alcohol as I type, so Stock will run first round later.

SuperStock got their final qualifier in - Anthony Bongiovanni is sitting on top with a -1.10 run in his CobraJet SS/CA .Not a bad weekend for him as his other car sits on the Stock pole with Steve Ficacci driving ........congrats Anthony .

After Alcohol is finished Stock is to have round one .......and we're chompin' at the bit .

Stock finished round two - pretty exciting stuff at night - many , many redlights - some of us - myself included don't like the bright lights but they are part of the sport and must be dealth with .

Wrong - Plenty going on .........The Stock final could be another heads-up shoot - out as the possibilities are endless .Some of them are - Mike Ficacci v Ryan Horensky C/SA - Dave Ficacci v Jeff Bardecoff B/SA or Bob Mederios ( who has been fast this weekend ) v Dave Ficacci B/SA . Me ? I'm rootin' for the boss in his AA/SA old school CJ .Then we have to remember there is still a Pires in the mix plus dark horse Glen Hartzler who knows how to get it done . And then there's that Fletcher guy .............

And then there is SuperStock with entries that have Divisional and World points deal implications ......exciting - you bet - stay tuned ! ! Some monster match-ups .....Santangelo v Antonette --- Biondo v Morehead --- and then the young guns - Worner v Fletcher .

I've gotten spoiled watching Toby Langs videos lately. Maybe next year Division 1 racers can take up a collection for our own Cameraman. If so, I will chip in $. Definitely helps to tune your chassis when YOU can see what the car is actually doing...

And If NHRA isn't going to promote sportsman racing, maybe we'll have to do it on our own, LOL!
