Who makes the ugliest automobile
 

I was sitting in traffic today and out of the blue this question came over me"what is wrong with these people, how can people buy these horribly design automobile and be proud to be seen driving these sardine cans"! I have two cars that I have to throw out there: the first has to be The Cube from Nissan and the other has to be the Kia Soul with an orange puky gold color. Help me understand why someone would buy one of these garbage cans. a Gremlin is a work of art compared to one of these cars. Your turn. CR

Here is my list of ugly cars: Scion box/Honda elephant(Element), Pontiac Aztec,Smart car, French Citroen from the 60's, Toyota Prius. Even the 60's Chrysler products were works of art compared to these priviously mentioned POS. The funny thing is how smug their owners are when they drive up to the gas pumps. I think to myself can these people really be that stupid?

Hey Now! Easy , that '61 was my High School freshman year car ,with a 361 2x4 in it.
faster than most of the Tri5 Chevies too, and you could burn those old Bucrons all the way across the parking lot!
Hands down the Aztec has to be the ugliest modern era car.

I think almost all the new cars make Virgil Exner's designs (early 1960s Chrysler products) look good by comparison. Nissan seems to lead the ugly contest with the Leaf, Cube and Juke (contraction of Joke and Puke), followed by the Toyoda Prius (Pious with an "r" inserted in and the "o" removed), Audi has seemed to taking a liking to the overly HUGE grill that Chrysler brought back with the 300M but Audi took it to the extremes.

It seems like there are people that will buy anything new no matter how strange it looks. Maybe Chrysler should dig out the old Exner stuff and give it a modern interpretation and they might have a hit?

I'm glad that this thread brought a smile to some of you. I look at the old Chrysler and Dodge of the 60's as works in progress and they all look good once converted to a race car status, try to convert a square box into a race car and you still have a square box. A couple of years ago I bought an Aspen Station wagon with a slant six for my son to go to University(great for carrying all his gears but all his friends love it for it's bus like utility), I installed a catalytic converter and gear swap and was told that it past the emission with a better result than most Honda or Nissan four cylinders. Want to save the planet, recycle an old car. From Pinto to Cadillac they look great as a race cars. CR

Add another vote for the Aztec.

I rented a Fiat 500 in Austin to work the ProAm at San Antonio earlier this year. I was a little surprised by its performance - had no trouble getting up to speed on the highway ramps. ...but driving a car that small makes pickup trucks look like semi's when you're close to them, and the trucks don't give you any respect.

I'd actually like to have that blue Citroen. It's so homely that it's cool. And, those cars had hydraulic systems on their suspensions about 40 years before the lowrider owners thought of adding them to their cars.

Matador station wagons have a soft spot in my heart, took my drivers test in a 1978 version, and yes I had to parallel park that baby! Did lots of things in that wagon ;)

The Pacer and Pacer wagon are very ugly to me, but the ones I hate are the Prius and the owners they have nearly taken me out twice on the motorcycle!!!!
