The word I recieved from Div.2 was that the schedule would be released during Pomona.

Re: 2012 LODRS schedule

Last year it came out on the 6th of November, I heard that the D-1 Schedule is complete just waiting on a couple other divisions to settle up with tracks. Also hearing that there will be a big announcement at Pomona regarding the Alky Cars. They will be split into 3 sep divisions (East, Central, West) and will only run at division races that the tracks are suitable to handle the speeds they produce. So I would assume that Cecil, Leb Valley, E-Town might not have Alky next year at the divisionals which may open it up for us to have either a Fri-Sat event or Sat-Sun Event and not 3 or 4 day deals and open it up for T/D & T/S to be at more events.

Rob all that means is some other class will bump SG !!! lol

Seriously it sounds like someone finally figured out that Alky cars are dwindling and really belong at the bigger shows, or maybe match type races...like the article says to promote attendence....

As far as tracks that can handle the speeds....why cant LVD or E Town handle them, if Garlits could go 200 at Island !!!! Maybe he had better equipment in 1964 ??? ha...

Probably because Garlets' car weighed about 1500# @ 200 mph and the minimum weight of a TA/FC is 2275# going 50 -60 mph faster and the mandatory carbon fiber brakes wear out pretty fast.
I've used up the pads at Island going 165 @2700# !

At the events w/o alky cars, will the entry be lower, with same payouts..or same entry with larger payouts ......or,well you know!!

Re: 2012 LODRS schedule

I heard that the only track in Div.2 that will have the alky cars is Gainesville.

Really? So one race will determine the Division Champ and the All-Star Rep? That will be one hell of a race! Get your tickets now.

Don:
From what I've heard the alky cars will not be running for divisional points in 2012. It's going to be 2 or 3 "regions" and the points will be regional points. The divisional tracks that chose to have them will be part of the regional series.

Or they figured out letting them in free and then paying out a purse when they don't draw spectators in, is not good business.

Until someone figures a way to compete with Manzo, it seemed like a waste of time, he's that far ahead of everyone. I wont miss them personally, tho I enjoyed watching Frank raise the bar.

You hit the nail right on the head sir! To let them in for free under the guise that they put people in the seats is rediculous. I for sure won't miss them.

I, for one, will miss them.. I've gotten to know most of the D1 guys and girls and enjoy spending time with the crews.. I see this move by NHRA as the death of the alcohol classes.. depending on how these supposed regions are set up will determine who participates.. the low budget guys are not going to travel the world to race, and neither would we.. even getting in free does not make it worth their while..

There is a large expense to running one of these cars and travelling adds to that expense.. most crew members are not volunteers, so where does it all stop??.. not with this regional idea, that's for sure..

I also did not like the way NHRA went about obtaining input from the alcohol guys on their new idea.. from what I've read, many SRAC reps were not consulted..

And no Dave, there aren't any new classes to bump SG, that I've heard of, but I think I'm Bracket Racing next year anyway.. more bang for the buck and less travelling expenses..

Are you sure Charlie , they might bump us for snow mobiles.lol

I figured out how to not get bumped....

I got rid of my SG car and got a SST car !!!!!

When was the last time SST got bumped for tricycles or golf cart races or snowmobiles or or or...

Bad this is I have to start waking up earlier at the D1 races...

Good thing is I get to race Gary and tell him he's number 1 (thanks Ken)....

Re: 2012 LODRS schedule

Division 2 saw some success with the Unleashed style heads index classes, 10.0,11.0,and 12.0 I would imagine they will return for Div. 2 at least maybe in more... They picked up on average 14 cars per class, and made for some great racing. Some speculated early that this may be the new super classes because there are no delay boxes or throttle stops allowed, but I dont see the super classes going anywhere because of the $$$ involved by sponsors... If anything I think you will see more of this stuyle racing added and maybe even a Open Comp style class where racers qualify to set the index for the race, then drop one thenth to establish the index, handicaped pro tree start...

I for one have not run a Divisional race in some time, and am looking forward to doing so again this coming year. We have a newly prepared S/C dragster and a Mustang that I can either run the 10.0 class or S/G with...

Freddie, I don't remember that good of participation but won't fault your statistics. However, unless they shorten up the program the unleashed folks will tire of spending 3 days to run for less than local bracket races pay.

I'm not arguing or saying they should go away but, I don't understand why they don't pay like the rest of us. They are not drawing in spectators and that's the only reason I could see to let them in free.
I was in the stands at the Norwalk nationals when the alcohol cars ran. People were actually excited about them. Maybe it's the lack of promotion by the tracks.

Re: 2012 LODRS schedule

ALky is dead in the water. How many races even had an 8 car field?
They need to make them a national event only class.

The Unleashed classes will never fly either. Most participants were either local bracket racers or guys running their class car in there also.

If you think Bracket Racing is cheaper than Class racing you are misinformed. I live 4 miles from my closest track and I can drop a $100 for 1 night of bracket racing real easy. Most times it's a 7 rd race and they only pay $1,000 to win- $200 R/U- $50 SF. I went to a Big Buck race this weekend. I dropped $620 in Entry Fees. I won $575 in Round money and felt like it was a good weekend. The level of Competition at the Bracket events is way higher than the class races. Those Bracket guys love it when a class car shows up. It's like blood in the water to Jaws.

Re: 2012 LODRS schedule

Well Chip, I think I would feel a lot better dropping $100 for a night of bracket racing and at least going down the track 3 or 4 times that night if not more..

I have a motorhome, so I save the expense of a hotel.. and shopping is a little cheaper than eating out, but I averaged spending $500 to $700 a weekend for Divisional races between entry, crew, gas, food race fuel and what ever, for one qualifying shot and go into first round.. more than one shot was not that frequent cause SG was usually last out and the first to get bumped..

Now, as far as Class Racers being easy pickens for you bracket guys, what do you think Super racing is all about??.. bracket racing with an index.. I can't wait to get back to the bracket tracks and have all you guys sense blood in the water..

Doesn't look too bad for the D1 guys.. and I guess it depends a lot on how NHRA is going to handle Out of Region races.. it sure is a long way for a D2 guy to travel to Epping..

great....now, when do they release the schedule of which classes will be competing at which national events?

Charlie,
I think I got a pretty good handle on both Bracket racing and .90 racing.
2010 IHRA Box e.t. World Champ
2011 IHRA Hot Rod (10.90) World Champ.
In my opinion bracket racing is much tougher. I'm not taking away from the .90 crowd because they will slit your throat too.
Reasons I think they are tougher:
1) Double entries
2) Buybacks
3) More cars = more chances to lose

Looks to be also that Virginia is a 2 day event (Fri-Sat) which might bring in a bigger crowd of cars since we will have Sunday to make that long tow back home.

I know Virginia is included as a Jegs All Star home race, wondering if Maple Grove is the final race closing out the points being applied to your total or is it the first race of the following season?

Re: 2012 LODRS schedule

For Div 4 racers, trying to move a couple of races for 2012. Maybe move No Problem to one week after the Cajuns, and take a look at Houston. First Houston is on top of S. Georgia which is one week before the Gators, and Second Houston is on top of Reynolds Ga. I spoke to Paul @ No Problem and he is meeting with Craig later this month and will bring this up. I don't know who the SRAC rep is in Div 4 for the .90 classes, so any info or opinion, please email to jefft@southlanddodge.com. No Problem in June is a little warm.
