Rick stewart to retire

http://www.competitionplus.com/drag-...weekends-event

Say's at the end his replacement will be named later.
I can only hope it will be the one and only Bill Floyd. as much as i would hate to see him leave D3 It would be awesome to have him taking care of us at the nationals.

One possibility is Cliff Huff, D4 starter.

I thought maybe we could buy him a personality, and if everybody chipped in, maybe a sense of humor.

I heard that Bozo the Clown was retiring from Ringling Bros and is taking the job as starter. This way we can officially make it a circus.....

Miss Buster more and more!

Be assured that Rick will teach the new starter how to flip his right hand to make it look like he is starting the Pro tree when the cars launch. Otherwise spectators might figure out that Rick was faking the Pro tree start all these years.

I think the new starter will be division 6's Mark Lyle. He's been to almost every national event this year and does most of the starting for the sportsman classes.

His greatest moment was when he got all spazzed out and hopped on the RICE-ROCKET and cracked the throttle and headed down the track and recieved a fair amount of road -rash ,,,,laughed my *** off !!!!! That was the biggest thing that drove me nuts about him. We all know he isn't actually doing anything at that point. Maybe he is going to go back to racing and he has been doing that to antisipate the tree so he will be sharp when he gets back in the car.

I would much rather be the starter following Rick. It wouldn't have mattered who the new starter was following Buster no one was going to like him.

Rumor has it that the trunk monkey is taking over the starter position.

It's too bad that we can't go back in time and clone Buster Couch before he passed away. I never competed at a National event, but have seen a lot of videos of him in action. Buster had a personality that was unlike anyone else. I hope someone can be found with the same qualifications as Buster. Of course we would have to go back and clone Steve Evans, also. I do miss the days of his commentary. Anyway, my 2 cents - for what it's worth.

I suppose there's been plenty of Buster threads, but this reminded me of something that hit my funny bone pretty hard. While announcing at the Gatornationals for the first time way back when, Buster was sitting in the next booth/ race control and of course like all or most announcers you kinda keep an ear open for class calls they're getting ready for. And only those of you that knew Buster's drawl can really appreciate this. I know per the schedule that Funny Car is next. I hear him say:

"Yeah, ok. Time to get the guard rail gliders up here."
