Stk, SS, S/C, S/G at all races. Did we have that last year?

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

Yes, same as last year. NHRA isn't going to eliminate their cash cows, especially SC and SG.

I'd be really surprised if quotas change much from last year either.

Looks the same as last year because it is the same as last year. When I click on the link it shows up as the 2011 schedule.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

Wow.There will be Stock class at 9 of 23 races next year. That's a real showcase of a performance class.Like I said in another thread. When will we get an expiration date in the idiots in Glendora. They're chipping away at us slow but sure. How about it all you NHRA cheertleadetrs.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

I think the new schedule for Stock and Superstock sucks. Neither one at Phoenix, but they both run class at both of the Las Vegas events. I live 15 miles from the track in Phoenix and I'm not sure if I want to enter the event.

ED
Stk and SS get 12 class races per year like always
9 national events and 3 sportsnationals

So it's 12 of 26 or 46% of all national events

Hi Charlie,46% is pretty sucky for what's supposed to be one of the performance categories.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

When you think about it it's a damn shame the charade those trolls in Glendora atre pulling on basicly all ythe racers in the pro and sportsman ranks.
Their new rules, enhancements, policies, whatever you call them come down to the fact that it winds out pitting all of us against each other, while taking the focus away from the crap they're foisting on us.
Maybe one day we'll all realize this and band together in a rebellion to remove them before they sink the ship completely.

I think the ship is already treading water…

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

Ed what do you want class at every race?
Class @ 46% of all races and STK and SS are not locked out of any event.
NHRA has never had more then 13 class races per year for SS or STK.

Not all Charlie, but since we're supposed to be a performance eliminator why shouldn't we be more show cased at national events.Seems I hear people saying we don't get enough exposure at national events.Class runoffs would give S/SS more recognition.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

Having class eliminations on Saturday on a regular basis would provide a much better show for the spectators. But then, that would promote Stock Eliminator and Super Stock, which might make them popular classes with the spectators. We couldn't have that.

They would have to stay in the stands to watch. They leave when the fuel cars are done.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

Alan running class on sat would be great for STK & SS, but let’s get real. NHRA can't run two rounds of pro qualifying in less than six hours how in the heck are you going to fit SS & STK class in there and keep the fans in their seats? NHRA fans on average only spend 3-4 hours in there seats watching the event, that leaves little time to watch anything but pros.

80% or more of the ticket buying fans are there to watch the pros not STK and SS or anything else.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

We commonly run regular eliminations on Saturday, there have been times when we ran eliminations until 8-10 at night. The Saturday pro qualifying schedule is full of holes. Stock Eliminator and Super Stock class eliminations would be great on Saturday, there's really no down side to it, it is good for the racers, the spectators, and the sponsors.

The only thing necessary is for NHRA to want to, and we all know they do not want to be bothered.

Danny, the only time there is tear down for any large number of class winners is at Indy. Most National Events don't have tear down at all, if they do it is a carburetor and cam lift check for a few cars.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

Why on earth would they have class at more events? They would have to give out more trophies (spend more money).
At the PRI show I'm going to suggest that they just give one trophy to one overall class winner.
They can run it just the same as the combo classes but all will run.
Then they just give one trophy, and only pay contingency to one car.
Sounds like they would like this.
And everybody would be treated equally.

Re: 2012 Class Schedule

Ok, I am confused. When we say "run class" at some events, do we mean like it used to be where all J/sa run together, and AA/A run together, etc? Or are you just referring to the stock and super stock categories being held at an event?

I havent been around racing since I was 6 (1987). I have one my dads photo albums from 78 at indy and he was explaining to me how class racing at indy used to be an entire day and how much fun it was. Am I to understand that they don't do that anymore?
