Super Comp Tips

I'm going to be running in my first super comp race this coming weekend. Any tips for me to help improve my chances of going rounds? :)

Sure, run me first round. lol
I plan on being at the Citrus this weekend, so look me up and I will see if I can help you any. I have a red Thunderbird that I run in Super Gas and a Dragster with Kawasaki on the side. If I remember, I had sent you a pic of it when you were looking for a dragster.

About the only way to increase your chances are to be .000 on the tree and 8.900 on the track and hope you don't get beat by .00000001.

I have the best idea. Leave your car at home, race your friends car, put .040 more in the delay box then he ever ran, go "0's" all weekend and spend the rest of the year breaking his balls with the rest of your friends. Great fun and costs less. Happy Turkey Day everyone.

I rolled off the gas pedal halfway on that one right at the stripe.....That one really hurt.....It was in the first round....

It's still fun though and beer helps sooth the pain away.....LOL

Happy Turkey Day....

Is that the time you ran Ron 55 Chevy and when you let go of the trans brake button the delay box said "ARE YOU SURE "

Well tweaker, since you started this post, are you now wondering why you jumped into this fire? Lol. Super gas and super comp is some of the best and closest racing there is. Great people and you'll make friends from all over the country if you start running the divisionals and national events.

So true. I didn't say "... and you'll win". I was just suggesting that it was a way to get the win light more often than not. If you can consistently bring in a package under 20, you'll be a tough competitor. Add in a little skill at the top end, and you'll be a monster.

When people ask me why I do this...I tell them the first reason is that I have good friends all over the country....that I could call at a moments notice......now that's cool.....

the best super comp tip I can give is .... pick a different class .... the toughest class in NHRA is Super Comp..... try super street, it is designed for the "entry level" racer. Racing in super comp i feel will be setting yourself up for disappointment.

You dont seem to have a problem with either..

Re: Super Comp Tips

I raced with roughly the same technology and speed (single low gear throttle stop, 20 mph slower than the typical high-MPH car) and my winning record was about the same in both classes. I don't see one as harder than the other, except that you have to beat one more racer in S/C to get to the final round. They're all challenging. Don't get discouraged - especially in Super classes, where compiling lots of data on the same combination is a big advantage and you only get that data by going to race after race.
