Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
SECTION 10A: STOCK CARS, ENGINE: 1, ROCKER ARMS (Page 5)
Aftermarket rocker arm permitted. Either adjustable pushrods or adjustable OEM rocker arms permitted on any application, but not both. Can we get a translation on this please. |
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
AAA/SA? ... CC/SA? ... would it have been that difficult to just reorder the classes from A on down?
|
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
OK, roller rockers are allowed. ANY ratio allowed?

The camera/video rights section caught my attention, as well as substance abuse policy now being more in line with what most employees working for a company already abide by. Stock still 1955 or newer to put that BS to bed. http://www.nhra.com/UserFiles/file/2...Amendments.pdf |

Of course, NHRA would say "just because we did not tell you that you cannot, does not mean that you can". I guess it is kind of cool, though. If your Stock Eliminator combination is factored at 500HP, you can run AAA/S at 3170 with driver, on a 9" slick. |

Who will be the first 8 second stocker?

Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
I guess there are no changes to the SS/GT, and Modified classes?
Or did I miss something? |
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
looks like "many people" will have to curtail there cocktailing or use of adult beverages--- not only racers and crew but NHRA staff also(TC) maybe? They are gonna make an example of somebody I gaurantee you.
Noticed also many classes will not be allowing ANGLE PLUG heads !!! Do not know how many that is gonna affect Many classes quicker than 150MPH or 9:99 will also hafta have a HANS neck protection unit too under the new system.... |
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
Apparently, one of the 2012 enhancements will be that "all" window nets will expire after 2 years. 2011 rules had an two year expiration term for the "mesh" type nets only; "ribbon" type nets did not expire.
Maybe we can get the manufacturers to put both our two year seat belts and two year window net in the same box so that we can "save" shipping? (sarcasm) |

Its angle-tipped spark plugs that are now illegal in comp. Are we to assume they are legal in stock and super stock? |

So what are the stocker BB and AA indexes then? 10.35 10.05? I didn't see anything posted. Maybe I missed it.

SECTION 10A: STOCK CARS, ENGINE: 1, ROCKER ARMS (Page 5)
"Aftermarket rocker arm permitted. Either adjustable pushrods or adjustable OEM rocker arms permitted on any application, but not both. " They really go to great lengths to spell out their rules changes so all can understand them. Is this for real? Is that it? Really? I think every racer with a stock # should call the tech dept at the same time and ask for an explaination. |
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
I can't imagine that a Super Mod in Super Stock CAN have angle plug heads and that a Super Mod in Comp CANNOT have them--no logic there----as for roller rockers bet its gonna be OEM location and ratios ---No T&D/Jesel shaft style rocker systems UNLESS that style is OEM (Mopar, etc)

Would have to be the same setup as stock, IE. shaft mount or stud. Same ratio as stock spec. IE. 1.5 etc. You guys had to know it was coming! Trust me on this, this will be the spec. Jim . |
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
For the video deal, I kind'a saw this coming cause when I did the cam affixed to me hood in Sonoma , Danny told me to take it off cause it didn't fit with ESPN being the video rights holder. F it, I did it anyway.
Can't do that now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Well ESPN/NHRA, step up to the plate. Why don't ya'll take some footage of all the great stk/ss action yourself's and spread it around. I want to see Toby continue from the stands, don't believe he can be affected, but ya never know. Anybody want to buy a lightly used HD Pro??????????? |
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
Who dreams up this crap anyway? Seems almost laughable to even put some of this stuff in print. And even funnier that quite a few of you will actually put up with it year after year. Time for another venue and some real rules that actually mean something. You know, the kind that can't be interpreted 100 different ways depending on the incident and the competitor. Hell, how much is the budget for the tech dept? With the way this is written it shouldn't be any more than allowance for a third grader.

Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
So are all of the super stock only cars with 6.0lbf weight breaks going to be allowed back in? I have to say that I would love to see one of the 68's cudas or darts in stock. At least that would add some additional excitement and even amidst all the unrest of NHRA's idoacy(if thats a word), seeing some of the SS only combos in Stock would be exciting.

Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
I see that the aftermarket automatic transmission cases will now be listed as legal for everyone, not just the Drag Paks and Cobra Jets. JW is getting ready to release a replacement for the TH-400.
|
Re: 2012 Rules Are Posted
The next sentence reads "NHRA-accepted adapter plates permitted". Does this mean that the bell housing on the 200 can be machined off and a SFI housing adapted to it?.
