Carter AFB Question
Anyone know the cfm rating of AFB's #3855 & #4131? These are 65-66 Mopar carb's.
Thanks, Joe |
Re: Carter AFB Question
Around 550-575 cfm. I have only flowed one carb of those specs (1.437 x 1.563, 1.118 x 1.313) and it flowed 560 cfm on my bench.

Last time I was at R&M they still had that flow bench Lee & Buddy built. Somebody had asked about buying it. David and Bruce mentioned it. |

Probably as long as the sand in the springs. Right, Ed? |
Re: Carter AFB Question
Sorry I didn't see this sooner.
I've lived in Tulsa all my 68+ years. Just bought a house with a Sand Springs address about eleven years ago. Only six miles from my shop (which I sold my dyno & closed just over a year ago) in west Tulsa. Now my mailing address is the same town as my long time friend & hero, 2 time NHRA Top Fuel World Champ Bennie "The Wizard" Osborn. LOL |

Ed
hey sorry it took me so long to reply. I asked my dad if he knew you and he said he remembered you racing a 65 chevelle in stock with a 327 and a glide in the 70s, that ran 12.40s said he never met you just knew who you where. if you ever saw a blue rambler american that ran deep 13's that was his old race car. |
Re: Carter AFB Question
I ran that car for two years. Tulsa was AHRA then. I had to slow it way down because the records were so soft. Best it went at Tulsa was 12.0s. Took a year off after that, then built the C/SM '69 Camaro. Tulsa was back to NHRA by then. Never did care for AHRA.

Re: Carter AFB Question
well evidently you had quite a reputation as a carb guy. anyway speaking of tulsa i'm glad the tracks going to be alive for a couple more years atleast.

Re: Carter AFB Question
Yeah, we still have a place to play. When I started we raced at the North Airport. Still had a flag man. Had to stop the races to let airplanes take off & land. Small private airport near 36th street North & Cincinatti.

Re: Carter AFB Question
Well ed maybe well see you at the track sometime it would be a red white and blue amx that should be ready for next season.

Re: Carter AFB Question
The 4131 is a 525cfm, I run that carb on a 66 383 combo. Its a awesome working little carb...
