.90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

I am pleased to announce that the 2012 .90 Nationals will be held on June 9th, 2012 at Numidia Dragway. Once again we will do the free test & tune on Friday June 8th, 2012 from 12 to 5pm. Also if their is enough interest we will try to throw together a high-roller race on Friday night for a small entry fee for all 3 classes. We will also be throwing together the racers BBQ on Saturday Night for all racers & crew to attend to be prepared by Uncle Buck. We are still working out a race for Sunday or we may just leave that as a travel day for most of you. Entry fee's will be adjusted just a bit for the event as the $155.00 entry fee is already completed but, the $170 entry fee will re-open today till May 6th. Remember by pre-entering by the May 6th date you get entered into the raffle for some cool prizes (GC Towards a Brodix Block, Accelerated Travel G.C., Buy 1 Get 1 from Hoosier Tires, Etc) The entry fee from May 7th till the gate opening will be $190.00 (It's $10.00 cheaper then the 2011 rate). As always the purse to win will be $5,000 to win in each class plus contingency certificates from sponsors. I'm also working to combine this race with the Combo in the Hills Stk/SS Race for some of you that might have a Stk/SS & .90 Car. We are trying to put together a sportsman race that everyone will be talking for a long time. So mark the calenders and put that personal time in at work....the .90 Nationals are here!!!

Haha Quiet down Tom! Why do you think I picked the week after the Englishtown National Event (They have Paved Pits) and I won't have to worry about the pits being too muddy...unless the lake overflows.....

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Some of you may have read on the Stock/SS page but, I'm pleased to announce that we will combining the .90 Nationals & the Combo In The Hills II together for 1 huge weekend of sportsman racing on June 8th & 9th at Numidia Dragway. Friday June 8th will be a FREE Test & Tune put on by Track Owner Bob Dimino, Brian, Lee & Myself. The FREE Test & Tune will run from 12 to 4pm ( I can't promise how many time shots you will receive that day as we will run everyone in groups so we don't have to switch the tree over from a .400/.500 Pro to .5 Tenths when we run the Stk/SS guys ). After the Test & Tune is complete Numidia will have to do some minor prep work to get ready for their normal Friday Night Street Session. At that time Lee & Brian will be putting together a special "CIC" Race for the Stk/SS Guys and to give back to the .90 Guys we will run a special "Top 32 Shootout" that will be open to all 3 classes (1 race for S/St, 1 for S/G, 1 for S/C). The entry for that event will be $75.00 and it will guarantee $1,000 to the winner of each class. We hope to get 1 or 2 rounds in before Numidia starts their Street Night and we will fit in the remaining rounds in between (Trust me if you've never been to Numidia on a Friday Night...Bob packs the stands with people).

On Saturday June 9th we will kick off the .90 Nationals / Combo in the Hills event at 9am with 2 qualifying shots for everyone. Stock will be the first to hit the well-prepped Numidia Strip in the morning followed by Super Gas (Make sure you set your alarms since I know your not used to being out 2nd), Super Stock, Super Street & Super Comp. Once qualifying is complete we will take a quick 15-20 minute break to groom the track, let the track crew get a breather & a bite to eat. We will stick with the same run order that we had for qualifying with Stock running 1st round followed by Super Gas (We have a few double up racers in SG & S/ST & a few Racers have S/G & S/C Cars they may double enter so to give them time to not rush around). 1st round will be random pairings for all classes and 2nd round you will go on a ladder till we are complete.

On Saturday Night Myself, Uncle Buck and the Donhausers will be putting together a FREE BBQ for all the racers and family (Hopefully we bring enough food) to come and enjoy. This will though be a BYOB (Bring your own Boooze) as my pockets only go soooo deep unless I get some supporters who want to pitch in and want to give me some cash or bring a side dish. Also if your not into BBQ's Knoebel's Amusement Park will be open on Friday and Saturday Night for all to enjoy.

On Sunday I assume Bob and his Crew will have a Summit Series Bracket Race for all to enjoy with a pretty nice payout.

Here is a layout for the $$ Payout for the .90 Nationals...

Top 32 Shootout: (S/St, S/G, S/C)
W: $1,000
RU: $500
Semi: $250

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Hope everyone had a great Holiday!

I've set up a PayPal account for the .90 Nationals for anyone who would like to Pre-Pay for the event rather then having to mail out a check and risk of it getting lost in the mail.

Just go onto www.paypal.com and put my e-mail address ( Rekeister@aol.com ) into the file and you can pay that way. This should make things a lot easier in the future for those who want to pre-enter.

** Just an FYI If you decide to go with the PayPal route you will need to add the fee of $10.00 that PayPal charges for the transaction. So it's not really saving much for you but, it does give you another option to pay with if you choose too **

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Well I hope everyone is doing well!

Not too much to report on the home front since a lot of things are already in place from last year. All the sponsors that were going to support this race last year have signed back on for the 2012 version. We have less then 4 months to go before we kick off this great event and the pre-entry list is holding strong. You have up till May 6th to enter at the rate of $170.00 before it goes up to $190.00. Hopefully gas will not be an issue and not hit $5.00 a gallon by June because I think a lot of us will be cutting back on out racing plans for 2012.

Remember Lee, Brian & Myself are here to put together a sportsman race for all the racers and we hope to see everyone support it! It will be a great time I promise you!!!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

A few of you have asked about the "Top 32 Shootout" that we are offering on Friday Night. If many of you remember back in day at Divisional Events for a small fee Division 1 would put together a shootout for the Top 8 or 16 Qualifiers at each event and they would have a small race later on at night. I'm pretty sure that D-3 still does something similar to that. Since we will not be qualifying on Friday the way the "Shootout" will work is at 3pm the day of the Test & Tune I will make an announcement over the PA system that anyone who would like to sign-up for the event to please meet me at the base of the tower and we will settle up there. Once the 32 drivers are paid ($75.00) and on the list the class is closed for the night. I would love to expand it to a larger field but, the Stk/SS guys are running a CIC Race that Night and Numidia has a Friday Night Street Program which, if you've never been there on a Friday Night you would think it was a National Event as the stands are packed. Those events start at 6pm and I will try to have at least 1 round completed by that time. Time will dictate if I will be allowing a time shot beforehand so it will be important to get a few shots in at the Free Test & Tune from 12-4. The winner of the Top 32 Shootout will pocket $1,000 to start off their weekend and the Runner-Up will pocket $500.00 and we will pay back till the 3rd round loser.

As far as the race itself on Saturday June 9th, we plan on getting started early at 9am with Stock, then into Super Gas till we give all 5 classes 2 time shots so hopefully eliminations will kick off around 2-3pm with Stock. Remember it is still random pairings for 1st round and we will basically be pulling from random lanes so everyone needs to be on their toes. The pre-entry is still at $170.00 till May 6th (Atco Open) then it will go to $190.00 after that and at the gate. As Lee & Brian have said "You Support it, I'll pay it" so the plan is $5,000 for 85 cars each class but, if we get more then that I'm willing to up the purse. Remember I'm not in this fight to make money for myself but, as long as I can cover my cost's for items I'll be glad to pay it back to the racers. So tell you friends, pass the flier out to anyone you may know and get those entries in ASAP.

Also the racers BBQ is coming together very well and should be a great time for all and of course if you want to stay on Sunday Numidia will be offering up a Summit Equipment Bracket Race that could pay up to $2,500 to the winner. Last but, not least Numidia will be playing host to their 2nd annual "Superbucks in the Hills" the following weekend on June 15th to 17th which will pay either $5,000 or $10,000 to the winners in Super Pro.

So far we are at:
Super Comp: 12
Super Gas: 25
Super Street: 11

Keith,

I will check with Bob and get back to you on this. They usually run pretty late on Sunday Night with there Bracket Program but, how late I'm not too sure. I know a few guys are traveling from Pittsburgh or E-Town to park for the following weekend and Bob or Vinny sometime stay in the additional apartment attached to the tower but, can't say if they are staying that night. I'll let you know.

Just let the person at the gate know that you are parking for the .90 Nationals / Combo in the Hills Event and you will be good to go. Their will be no parking on Mon - Wed and the gates will open at 5pm on Thursday June 7th or if Lee, Brian or Myself get up there earlier the 5. Thanks!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Just a friendly reminder that there is about a month left to pre-enter for this great event at the $170.00 rate. The cut-off date is May 6th (Atco Open) to pre-enter after that it goes up to $190 and just have to pay at the gate. If you would rather give the money to me at an event I will not be doing much traveling this year so I will only be at the following events or you can drop it off at Kelli Barbato's Camp in case I'm not there...

April 28th & 29th - Atco MASGA / MASCA Event

May 4th (Friday Only) - NHRA Open (Brother's Graduating from College so I have to skip this event)

So far we are at about 20% at the quota with Super Gas holding at 24 Cars, then SC at 13 & S/Steet at 11.

If you want to mail it in the address is as follows:

Re: Ronnie "Uncle Buck" Memorial .90 Nationals

The .90 Nationals will officially change it's name to the Ronnie "Uncle Buck" Memorial .90 Nationals to honor a man that touched so many .90 Racers over the years. If you never had the chance to meet Ronnie you missed meeting a great man. Ronnie made sure every-time you stopped by the trailer you left with a full stomach and a cold beer. He will be truly missed by all of the .90 Racers! Let's all honor a great man at this race because I know how much he was looking forward to cooking for you all and attending this race.

49 Days and Counting!!!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Coming up on a few days left to pre-enter at the $170.00 rate. I will be at the PC Richards NHRA Open at Atco all day on Friday. I will not be there racing but, just hanging out so if you would like to pre-enter just call me on my Cell Phone ( 856-332-2851 ) or e-mail me at Rekeister@aol.com and I will stop by your trailer. I will have a complete list of pre-entered cars on Monday after this weekend. Plus if the reports are correct gas prices are starting to drop and may have already peeked for the year...as long as they stay low for June 7th & 8th..haha.

Also a few people asked me this weekend about the track at Numidia since a lot of people have not been there since the NHRA National Open in 2009. In 2010 the concrete was extended to the 1/8 mile and the entire track was ground, smoothed & re-paved. In 2011 A second return road entrance was added that gives the drivers another 400' of runoff so you no longer have to make that quick left turn at the top of the hill. Also a state of the art sand trap was added to the end of the track to prevent anyone who might get into trouble.

So come see why NHRA Division 1 & Drag Racing Action has voted Numidia Dragway the "2011 Track of the year" on June 7th to 9th!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

So over the weekend I had the chance to talk with a few Super Street drivers at Atco regarding the .90 Race and spread the word to them about attending this event. I heard a decent amount of grumblings about the no min weight rule being put into place and that's the reason that they would not be attending this event. I felt it was in all fairness to responded to the this issue.

I wasn't going to add Super Street to the .90's until I received a few e-mails from a few of you . The original reason behind not adding S/Street was because of the weight rule. If you look at both classes in both sanctioning bodies the weight rules are different. NHRA is 2,800 pounds & IHRA is 2,600 pounds. The reason behind the no min weight rule is because to open up the field to everyone so we can get a full field. I can't watch each car too make sure 1 car is the proper weight. Super Street is a very heavily populated class (Maybe this year cause people are scaling back and you don't need a NHRA/IHRA LIC to run S/Street just Cert if you go over 135mph). I thought the point behind the class was 10.90? As I asked a few of the S/Street drivers already at Atco this past weekend...."When was the last time you were weighed at a National or Divisional Event?" How do you know the guy your lining up against is not really 2600 or 2700 pounds if nobody checks it. I'd be more worried that my car has the all the proper bars and is safe to run against. I was told by a few people that if you "Win" the event you get weighed at the end. Out of the 13 drivers who are entered 1 driver is a cross-over from S/G, most of the other 12 drivers have run S/Street at some point either at a divisional or national event. I'm not trying to start a war on this site but, the rule has been in place since March of 2011, I don;t know why all of a sudden 30 days before the event this is becoming an issue. I will re-evaluate the class after the race is complete and make adjustments for the 2013 race. Thanks for your support and if you would like to e-mail me feel free to at rekeister@aol.com.

Really? People are complaining about this? That couldn't be farther from my mind as a Super Street racer. The aim of the game isn't closest to 2800 lbs, it's closest to 10.90 sec. I care more about getting a full payout than outlawing someone that's only 2400 lbs.

Don't worry, Rob, we're not all complainers. I can't wait for the race!

Wow...I guess some .90 races are as whiny and picky as Class Racers are, when it comes to good money, but not xHRA, races. Sad.

well i think it should be fine. ihra is 2600, nhra is 2800. if you want anyone to compete it should be open, i for one, weigh 2640. i am coming from Pittsburgh's ihra div. race and am not going to bring my weight bars with me just to make some "nhra gripper" happy, so please make a decision whether i am welcome to race or not....

I think some people aren't happy unless they are complaining about something but I am open to other people's thoughts and ideas so I would love to hear someone's reason to be upset with the no minimum weight rule. I mean I heard someone on here argue the downside of having a diaper on your car---the way some people think fascinates me.

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Trust me Guys and Gals I didn't post this to discourage people from coming to the race. I simply wanted to explain myself as to why I decided to do a non min weight rule. Like I said I'll look over the rules after the race is over and make adjustments for the 2013 event. I started this race for you the sportsman racers to enjoy & have fun at and maybe start a tradition in the near future. I see the success that Pete Biondo & Kyle Seipel are having with the "Spring Flings" and my intention is to maybe make the .90 Nationals as big as their event or as close in the near future. All I can do is promote the heck out of the race and hope people like Gary, Kelli, Keith, Derek, etc go back to racers after it's over and say "Dude you missed one heck of a race you better be there in 2013". The intention from last January when Brian and Lee announced the Combo in the Hills and I decided a few weeks later to start the .90's event was to give back to the racers and that's what I'm trying to do through the sponsors that I have obtained. Trust me it's been a roller coaster of nerves with Hurricanes and Rescheduled National Events but, I'm determined to make this event work. I can't force people's hands in anything they do and the decisions they make is their own all I can do is provide a great race at a great facility run by a great family. I hope to see a lot of supporters on June 7th when we open the gates for the .90 Nationals :)

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Good Morning Racers,

Well we are under 20 days left before the start of the .90 Nationals / Comp Cams Shootout at Numidia Dragway. I hope everyone is getting pumped up and excited for this event (I know Derek might already be at the front gate waiting to get in). Just a few quick notes to go over just so we all know and haven’t forgotten about it. I know I’m a pain in the rear but, it’s all about making this as smooth & organized for you guys & gals!

• If your going to E-Town for the Supernationals or Pittsburgh for the IHRA Pro-Am and want to drop your rigs off after the event is over the gates will be open till 10pm on June 3rd! This way anyone traveling from a far distance can save a few gallons of gas by not having to lug everything back and forth.
• My Brother and I will be at the track around 1:00 on Thursday afternoon to start hanging up the banners and getting things prepared for your arrival. Gates will open at 5pm but, if we start to back up down Dragstrip Road we may start to allow a few rigs in at a time.
• There will be no registration on Thursday evening for the .90 Nationals. Our main purpose on Thursday night is to get everyone parked and settled in for the night. Gates will be open till 10pm. Registration will begin at 8am on Friday Morning. Just look for the .90 Nationals / Combo in the Hills banner that will be hanging off of Lee or Brian’s trailer. Even if you have pre-entered you must come over and register so we know you have arrived and we will have that all important thing called a TECH CARD that you will need to fill out to race.
• Dave Ley and Numidia Dragway will be doing the tech on Friday & Saturday Morning for us but, not sure if Dave will be driving around doing the tech at the trailers or up by the gas pumps. We will let you know when you come up to register. It can get quite crazy up by the fuel pumps with tech so I will shoot for the guys to come around to the trailers to do tech.
• We will start the FREE test & tune as soon as we can to give everyone as many shots as they can at the Numidia track. You must go through tech first before attempting any time shots. We will run everything in segments to make it run as smooth as possible. We will give you lane assignments once Lee, Brian & Myself go over everything with Bob & Vinny.
• As far as the Comp Cams Shootout goes. At 3pm sharp Ashlee Donhauser, My Brother Kyle & Myself will be at the base of the tower. Ashlee will handle Super Comp, My Brother Super Street & Myself Super Gas. Everyone is to pay their $ 75.00 and their will be containers with the numbers 1-32 in them. Once you are registered you will choose a number. That number is where you will be placed onto the sportsman ladder so who knows who you will race 1st round. That will not be disclosed till you are called to the lanes. I will check with Vinny & Bob to see if we can allow a time shot or we will go right into 1st round. If we have more then 32 guys & gals interested we may expand the Shootout to 48 or 64 cars. Hey it’s all about more cash in your pockets! We will pay all the way back to the 3rd round loser in this event. Yes Crew members will be allowed to drive up and enter their driver into the Shootout. If you ever dreamed of running under the lights with a big crowd in the stands this is the event to sign up for!
• We will attempt to put everyone over on the Tower side of the track so if you can work out of the back of your trailer please do so, if you would like to park on the side of the trailer we have no complaints about that just don’t take up 5 spots for the car, golfcart, bbq grill, personal car, etc…haha. If we have to we will park the over-flow trailers onto the other side of the track. The ticket booth on the tower side is the only one working so you will need to come down that return road after completing a run.
• During the Comp Cams Shootout we will be doing the raffles for the drivers who pre-entered for the event. I figured most, if not all of you should be in the building by then so it would be a perfect time to hand out the prizes.
• The BBQ will start around 7pm on Saturday Night at the Donhausers. They will be parked next to the stands and we will have that roped off so we can make enough room for everyone to mingle and grab a bite to eat. Menu for the night will consist of Burgers, Dogs, Corn, Sweet Potatoes, Salads, Slaw, Pulled Pork & Desserts. If anyone would like to bring something else we are more then welcome to accept it and put it onto the table just let me know so I can add it too the list.
• We will have “Uncle Buck Memorial .90 Nationals T-Shirts” (Grey with Black Lettering) that will be for sale on Saturday by the tower. We have about 172 shirts and will sell for $12.00 and a part of the proceeds will go towards the “Pancreatic Cancer Society” and finding a cure. We also have last years red shirts from the rained out event also that will be on sale for $8.00. We will also have a jug set up at the t-shirt table & at the BBQ for anyone who would like to donate anything extra for finding a cure for this nasty disease.
• Remember the .90’s will start out at 9am sharp with Stock then right into Super Gas for their 1st time shot, Super Stock, Super Street, Super Comp. 1st round is a random pairings then we go onto a ladder for 2nd. A true .400 tree for Super Gas & Super Comp and .500 Tree for Super Street. NO LED COMPENSATION will be added so it will be like the good old days with the Christmas tree.
• Bracket Race on Sunday for anyone who would like to stay after and play.
• We will have Mike Bassin on the Mic both days and anyone who would like to go up and guest announce it more then welcomed (I was hoping to have the Schurman – Northrop comedy hour but, I think both are backing out on the race), We will have results posted on Drag Race Central throughout the weekend, Rob Need for Speed will be making an appearance on Saturday to do video’s for Class Racer, I’m sure Tom Goldman or Myself will be doing a “Live from the .90 Nationals” on Class Racer & we might just might have Dragtime News & Drag Racing Action on location for pictures and articles for future issues.

So with all that being said, let the countdown begin for the 1st Annual Ronnie “Uncle Buck” Memorial .90 Nationals. This will be one of the sportsman race that will be talked about for the ages. I’ve put a lot of effort and lost a few nights sleep getting things finalized but, I think we will deliver a top-notch product to you the racers and hope we can do more of these events in the near future and make them bigger then this one. So come, enjoy, have fun, win some cash and tell all your friends to load up your trailers and come take the drive to Numida. Heck Atco, Maple Grove & Cecil all have special events that weekend….so there is no excuse not to be at the .90’s!!

Rob,
I'm here:) The gates locked????:confused::confused::confused::confused:

Kidding aside, You have done all you can with promoting it to the racers, getting sponsors, shirts, stickers, walking the pits trailer to trailer at races and a lot more then ANYONE has done for the .90 racers in years. (Even writing a step by step small novel to let all that are coming what to expect and whats happening day to day)

To all, if you can get off work, afford ($$$) the travel and entry fee's, this is something that you should make every effort to come to if its possible.

Everyone wants to WIN and comes to WIN, but winning the inaugural one, is always something we all strive for..Don't miss it.

Keep up the good work Rob and to all that are helping you make this possible....( Thanks to all the persons behind the scenes and especially all the racers that go through the gate to race)

Good luck to all the racers going to the Maple Grove points race this weekend and Englishtown Nats next week, and I will see you all at the .90 race on Thursday night.

Derek

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Thanks Gary, Rob & Derek for the kind words!

Sorry about the small novel but, you can't say you were not surprised about something at the 90's. I've put a lot of effort and thought into this race and I do have to thank first off the racers and sponsors who have been behind me through thick and thin. We have survived a Hurricane and a National Event Reschedule and hopefully the 3rd time is the charm. I do have to thank my Father for never letting me get my head down when times were tough and I wanted to throw the towel in and also Luke Bogacki who took the time out of his busy schedule to answer all my questions I had regarding sponsorships, setting up the race, etc. He really did point me in the right direction as far as setting up the race and did more then he had too. So let's rock and roll and get the show on the road!

As they say "If you build it, they will come"

I know most of you are all racing at E-Town this weekend but, I just figured I'd see who's coming to Numidia next weekend? I look forward to putting on a great sportsman show at the "Thrills in the Hills" next weekend and I hope you the racers support the hard work and effort I have put into bringing this all together. This started out as a challenge and has grown into something I could have never imagined it would. I know a few of you have told me that it's 3 or 4 weekends of racing in a row but, I promise you you will get the best bang for your buck at Numidia next weekend. I talked to Bob yesterday and he said he's getting warmed up on the mic for everyone next weekend at Numidia so watch out! I Hope to see everyone next weekend at the Ronnie "Uncle Buck" Memorial .90 Nationals!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

Weather does look awesome for this upcoming weekend and I don't see any Hurricanes forming out in the coast so I think we might be safe! I might have to break out the Jeans and Sweatshirt for night-time there.

http://www.weather.com/weather/tenda...+USPA1211:1:US

Also I'm checking on the gas situation for you all. Numidia carries Sunoco Race Fuel but, I'm seeing if Bob will bring in some VP for the weekend if not I'd advise you to bring some extra VP just in case.

Last but, not least for you bracket racers who is turning on the stop for this weekend and have a Nitrous Bottle hooked up on the car it must be removed if you are running the .90's.

See everyone on Thursday!

Re: .90 Nationals @ Numidia - June 9th, 2012

As most of you know Numidia can be a bit of a rough ride as you go through the Hills of PA. Brian Van Poppel just posted this on the Combo in the Hills site for an easier way to get to Numidia is you are coming from the South...

Last year we had many of you who attended who came from the south who were not happy about the ride getting to Numidia. Many of you took 81, I believe. I can tell you that the way that we go we have no problems with. It is a little of the beaten path but a beautiful and accessible ride. We take I83 up to the Lemoyne exit over the 11/15 North. You stay on 11/15 until they split and you continue on 11 North. Continue on 11 N and take the exit for 42 South. The track is a few miles down on the left hand side. Only 1 kind of big hill on Rt42 but a very nice, quiet, relaxing drive.

I also talked with Bob yesterday and he is going to try to have C12 & C14 VP fuel on hand for anyone who might need some but, to be on the safe side I would try to bring a little extra.

Remember Test & Tune starts at 12pm, We will take entries for the Top 32 Shootout right at 3pm and give everyone a time shot following the Stk/SS CIC Time shot. We will then let Numidia groom the track and then go into 1st round. If you are confused about how we are pairing cars for the Top 32 Shootout please e-mail me and I'll explain. We will try to get this race done ASAP so some of you can roll over to Knoebel's with the Family and have a great time that night! Knoebel's will be open till 10pm that night!
