Competition for the Blown Fords & V10 Mopars and the Bow Tie
1964-65 Lightweight B bodies with the 2 4bbl hemi @ 450 hp. 7.11, 7.36, & low 7.50 factor I think. Should add some interest. Doesn't say which manifold, the original alm and magnesium, or the Mopar Performance replacement. Should be interesting. I kinda thought the 68's might get some play, but nothing yet.

Jeff, Just wondering if the 64-65 Hemi posting @450hp, is this for Stk ? or SS?...John ! Any changes fot the 1-4bbl hemi ?

John, it says stock, and it's effective 1/1/12 so that is new.

Re: Competition for the Blown Fords & V10 Mopars and the Bow
What is the HP and class for the '64 Savoy with single 4bbl Hemi and what happens to the class when you put a 2x4 induction on it?
I have to imagine it gets a cross-ram, either OEM or MOPAR. I know of at least on single 4bbl racer that will jump right in. Heck, it's more legal now with a 2x4 than that 1x4! |

Is that anything like being "more pregnant"??? Isn't it either legal, or it's not??? |

Jeff,
Has NHRA started to accept fiberglass and lexan for lightweight cars yet like IHRA does? Jeff Day |
Re: Competition for the Blown Fords & V10 Mopars and the Bow
It'll still make, at it's absolute best, over 100 hp less than the supercharged cars.
Regardless, it will be cool to see some of those combos running. |

The single is 430, so 20 for 2 X 4, plus a cross ram vs. a dual plane. Two 770's vs 1 850

Re: Competition for the Blown Fords & V10 Mopars and the Bow
Did you know the real NASCAR 426 ran a 950 cfm? It was the 3 barrel a real NASCAR intake had a notch in the rear for the throttle blade to clear at wot.

I believe NHRA allows the 3v but you can use the 4v 850DP as an alternative.

Re: Competition for the Blown Fords & V10 Mopars and the Bow
Actually the Hp rating is 440 for the automatic, and 430 for stick cars. The NASCAR 3-bbl 950 carb has not been legalized, but the three bbl manifold that was modified for it's use has been legal for over 4 years. The carb was not approved because " it was a NASCAR only carb". Not sure I follow the logic since this is an approved NASCAR engine.

Re: Competition for the Blown Fords & V10 Mopars and the Bow
Well this gives me one reason to join NHRA again. Not that I can run anywhere close to a good A/SA car but at least I wont have to change the carb and intake if I want to run a NHRA race.
I wonder why they didn't include the 117in wheelbase cars in this change. I'll have to hack the crap out of my wheel wells to shorten it up another inch. |
