First two Divisional races in Florida?

Thinking about going to the first two divisional races in Florida (if fuel stays below $4.00/ gallon).
Anybody from division 3 thinking about going?
Do the tracks allow you to stay at the track between the two races? If so, How much per day?
Do you stay at a campground? If so which one?

I've done it in the past but, was able to go to my Uncle's house in between the races. I don't think that's an option this year.

I'm heading down for Orlando and Gainesville- South GA and Gators. I will land in Orlando on or about the 8th of Feb. After we leave Orlando we stay at Garlits and have dinner at Sonny's then on to G-Ville divisional. From there we'll go to Red Oak RV Park down the road about 90 miles or so for a week. It's clean and plenty of room for the MH and Trailer, then head to S. Georgia for the divisional from there. I'm a div 2 Guy , but I live near Indy. Nice this year as all my stuff is stored in Charlotte for the winter and I'll leave from there.

You can leave your stuff in Orlando for free or they usually let you in G'Ville Monday to stage and let you in tues or wed. If you have a car go there and tour around or stay in Orlando and go waste your money on Mickey Mouse or that RV park Chuck suggested is kool. Tommy De if you were just like Chuck you would be taller...just saying.

Re: First two Divisional races in Florida?

A couple more questions.
If you are 65ft or over you would need an oversize vehicle permit. Correct?
Do I need to top at the weigh stations in Florida even though I'm non- commercial?
I keep reading about horror stories and DOT.
Just for the record I will be 63 ft so, I should be OK.
We have never stopped before but, I'm just trying to make sure.

Chuck Westcott 01-05-2012 08:19 PM

Re: First two Divisional races in Florida?

Correct 65ft is the limit on Florida Interstates- @ 63 ft your ok, Hell I'm 66ft and I just roll through at the speed limit..
Don't know about you but I have a MH that I tow with and I don't stop at weigh stations and never been looked at twice.
Here are the towing Laws by State>http://www.towingworld.com/articles/TowingLaws.htm

Re: First two Divisional races in Florida?

Florida DOT is pretty lax, but the overlength permit is so cheap you might as well have it.
